  1. A long list of pitchers have changed uniforms. If they fail to address this need again, we wil be in for another horrible season, regardless of whether we snag Hamilton.
  2. The MFYs may get lucky and get out of ARod's contract if he is finished. That would suck.
  3. That's how the Yankees have been bagging FAs and trades for years. They make their best offer and the tell the player or GM that the offer expires when they walk out the door. That's what our guys need to do.
  4. So, he is about as good as Brett Gardner for $39 million?
  5. Another pitcher comes off the board.
  6. Hey Spud, How have you been. We've missed you around here. The King needs a jester. Seriously, are you leaving the country? We reelect the commie socialist ideologue that you have always wanted and you leave the country. How's your family doing? Your son is going to MIT? How's your daughter? Is the ex giving you any problems? Did you ever get anywhere with that lawsuit for the personal injury when you got clobbered by that door. You see, we have questions too.
  7. In his first year with Texas, I was at a game where he absolutely flattened a pitch ti CF. The ball left the park like it was shot out of a canon.
  8. Of the two, I think the move Grandy, unless they have reason to believe the PED rumors about Cano.
  9. Those teams were built around Manny and Pedro. They were the offensive and pitching centerpieces. Everyone else complemented them. If Hamilton is signed, he will become the centerpiece. It would be nice to have a pitching centerpiece too. Hamilton will not hit 18 HRs like AGon. The boy hits screaming bombs. A friend of mine met Jered Weaver at a Craps table in Vegas about 3-4 years ago. He told my friend that the only hitter he was afraid to pitch to was Hamilton. He is concerned for his safety with that beast 60 feet 6 inches away.
  10. He's not a pitcher. He is in his prime years.
  11. If the Sox are targeting this guy, they had better lock him down. When the Yankees go stealth like this, they strike like a cobra.
  12. Hamilton is exactly the type of young talent that you build a team around.
  13. He's just not very good. He has never pitched 100 innings in a season, and he was terrible against good teams. He's a good depth option, but I am not going to plug him into the rotation.
  14. Yesterday, I thought the off season work was 70% done, but after sleeping on it, I think. It is only about half done. The lineup needs a big bopper. Right now, the lineup looks like this: Victorino Ellsbury Pedroia Ortiz WMB Napoli Gomes Salty/Ross Iglesias Pedroia is the heart of the team and he makes the offense click when he is hot, but he is not a prototypical #3 hitter, nor is Ellsbury. I think they will push for HAmilton. Pitching is needed. The rotation is thin and not good at all. We still need a first base man too. There is a lot of work to be done.
  15. No he is not a good option. Two starts and 8 homers surrendered to the Yankees.
  16. When he went back to the bullpen, he was pitching solely out of the stretch. He was in the bullpen for the last 3 months of the season, but there was no progress.
  17. Theo got the dredge out for this move.
  18. Cherries made moves in 3 of the 4 days of the Winter Meetings. These were helpful moves that help with the foundation of the 2013 team, but I would say that it is still about 30 -40% unfinished. Most of the unfinished business involves starting pitching. Will there be a trade or a FA signing? Lots of names have come of the boards already. We still need someone to share 1B with Napoli. Will that be Swisher who can also share LF with Gomes? I don't think there is enough PT available for Swisher. Plus, he will cost a draft choice. Maybe it will be Berkman, who is a part-time player at this point. He could share 1B and LF. He is a nice stick when healthy. Will there be a big splash? Hamilton possibly? If so, I hope that it does not come at the expense of pitching. Finally, what would it do to our payroll budget to take Johan and the remainder of his salary for a middling prospect and someone from the major league roster?
  19. Very bad today.
  20. I like this move. He's a good reliable late inning arm.
  21. I think this is a good acquisition by the Twins.
  22. He has me eager with anticipation.
  23. It was painfully pathetic to watch him. I felt sorry for the guy. He gets an invite to Spring training to prove himself, but they need to conduct the off season as if he doesn't exist.
  24. In 3 months as a reliever, he had almost no clean outings and he was never dominant. What makes you think he will get his velocity back?
