  1. Josh Willingham got a contract for 3/$24 last year and that was too pricy for the Sox who opted for 1 year of Cody Ross at $3 million. Now, Victorino gets $37-39 million?
  2. I'll have to look again, but I thought his career splits against RHP are not very good. They certainly don't justify $13 million/year for 3 years. Were they just looking to give away money here? Put this in the context of what Ortiz makes, and it just looks stupid.
  3. They have paid much too much for him to be a platoon player, but his splits scream platoon player. He is awful against RHP and I don't think Fenway will help that. His splits were awful in the bandbox in Philly.
  4. That's a good point. I don't get this move. His splits against RHP are terrible.
  5. Maybe Victorino will be used in a platoon type role. His splits against Left-Handed pitching have been markedly better than what he has done against righties.
  6. IDK, $13 mil/yr for 3 years of Victorino is so much less exciting to me than 1 year/$13 million for Haren would have been.
  7. I don't get this move if this happens. Victorino is very mediocre.
  8. I really like the moves that the Nats have made in the last 2 post seasons. They weren't all gems, but they have built themselves a very formidable squad.
  9. I think we missed out here.
  10. Three way deals are complicated and they can fall apart very easily. Cherries has so much work to do that a 3 way would take too much time and energy IMO. Maybe he could pursue it after he has all of his other pieces in place.
  11. I don't think it is realistic that KC could be kept in the dark. There would be nothing to stop the team to which we would be trading Myers from approaching KC to cut out the middle man. They would look to cut their own deal.
  12. Essentially, Lester and Ellsbury for a pitcher. That had better be a top 5 pitcher. We'd also have to acquire a CF along the way. And if they can't make the Ells/Myers trade after trading Lester, where would that leave them-- rebuilding?
  13. Breaking the Home Run record doesn't look like such a lock anymore.
  14. I like that plan, and I hope that you are right. Baseball could be fun again at Fenway.
  15. Most years I was hoping that Wakefield would get hit by a bus, just enough to prevent him from taking the mound. I never would have expected to get a big prospect for him.
  16. SFF expresses himself much better. Work on your communication skills.
  17. Your posts almost always make sense. The only faulty ones are the ones where you tell me that I am wrong. jk, you have persuaded me to your point of view many times.
  18. The Mets are ridiculous.
  19. Rumors are that the Sox are in on Hamilton. I guess Cherries doesn't think pitching is a top priority. With the addition of Napoli and Gomes, the lineup would not have the over-weighted lefty problem that it had last season. There would be good balance.
  20. I agree. Building a contending team with the Red Sox' resources is not like designing the space shuttle.
  21. If he goes for 4/$60 million, that's not too bad considering the supply ad demand for pitching this off season.
  22. This guy has been killing us for years. Just to take him away as an opposing batter is a big plus. He loves to hit in Fenway.
