  1. Richards has not pitched in a full season since 2015 and he got banged around in ST, so there is no reason to expect much from him. Taylor is a pile of trash. But let’s get all excited about Garret Whitlock. LOL!
  2. The pitching is going as I had expected it would go— both the non-existent rotation and the pig pen. The fielding has been no surprise either. The lack of hitting had been a surprise, but they will hit— just not enough to overcome the pitching. They got a good jump on my predicted 90 losses, although I did think they would finish ahead of the Orioles.
  3. Announcers seem to think the ball has substantially less carry this year than in recent years. If that’s the case the teams with good pitching and D will dominate. And the value of making contact will be more pronounced than in past years.
  4. probably more than that, but if they want to get talent in return for JD, they will have to discount the contract beyond his market value.
  5. Sox would have to eat 2/3 of his contract.
  6. The Defense on this team is atrocious.
  7. Cora will wait until the team has slogged through 2 months of subpar offensive support like he did in 2019 when he let Benintendi ruin the offensive production for the first 2 months of 2019.
  8. We should be pummeling Harvey.
  9. I always liked him.
  10. JD will mash. He had a slump last year and not enough games to reach his norms. plus: if we trade him, the Sox would probably have to pay 2/3 of his salary, so it will not open up as much payroll as you might think.
  11. i can’t watch a 90+ loss team. I have better uses for my time. I am not asking for much, just some competitive games. Getting rid of JD will not accelerate the rebuilding plan imo.
  12. By the time I was old enough to watch baseball, there was no issue of integrating the game. Sports was one of the few aspects of life where performance did the talking and the BS didn’t matter. So, no, it is not the topic that distresses me. I am not even following that legislation. I don’t live in GA, and I barely follow my own local politics. I just like to enjoy the beauty of the game. The rest of life happens for me when the game ends.
  13. The fan base which our GM is doing a good job of losing.
  14. Trading JD at this point would be silly. This team will need to score a lot of runs to play .500 ball. Trading JD would not help in that effort.
  15. On the bright side, the O’s will be starting the Dark Knight Matt Harvey in game 2. He has been in darkness for around 5 years already. He is still managing to get paid well for being an occasional punching bag.
  16. DH Devers. Put JD in LF. Move Dalbec to 3B and move Marwin to 1B or bring back Chavis to play !B
  17. Baseball getting political. That's distressing.
  18. Devers can make the occasional spectacular defensive play, but major leaguers have to make almost every routine play. He doesn't.
  19. When the big acquisition in a reset year is Kike Hernandez, you are not serious about winning.
  20. It doesn’t change the fact that the place is a dump.
  21. Magic of Fenway? It's filthy and old, with obstructed views and no parking.
