  1. Why not sign a 3rd utility player.
  2. Oh, I was comparing their current cost. Holt is 32, and probably has some baseball life left. I’d rather have spent the additional $12 million elsewhere, especially since they ended up signing another utility guy in Marion Gonzalez.
  3. Holt is on a minor league deal with the Rangers for $1.75 million if he makes the big club. What was I trying?
  4. Can the lineup get longer than 9?
  5. i love your optimism.
  6. That’s what you thought?
  7. What was the intended affect?
  8. Yes An impending disaster... with a glimmer of hope.
  9. i am not seeing the significant improvement. I will add 7 -12 wins for ERod.
  10. 65 is putrid. That winning percentage was vomit inducing. I don’t see them doing much better than 70-72 wins this season unless there are additions to this squad or pleasant surprises.
  11. Was the game televised today?
  12. Cora thinks more highly of Kike than his stats dictate.
  13. I like your optimism. The only reason that I see many more wins in 2021 will be because they will have a 162 game season instead of 60 games.
  14. And the reason was the outfield? Maybe Saberhagen, Wake, Flash Gordon, Mo Vaughn and Nomar were the reason for most of the success of that team. I don’t get you. People say that the ‘98 Outfield was subpar and you argue that the team was over .500. LOL! Red Sox pitching sucked for much of the late 60 and 70’s yet they almost always finished above .500. It wasn’t because of their pitching. It’s the same concept here. The strength of the ‘98 team wasn’t their OF. No HOF candidates there.
  15. And that sign would be...?
  16. I am not putting a great deal of hope in Houck, and I probably need him to pitch far fewer than 400 innings in order to decide whether he should be rooming with Pivetta on the road.
  17. It was exciting having Pedro in 1998. He made up for that subpar OF. The 2020 staff will not compensate for this OF.
  18. But 400+ innings isn’t a sss, and I am more optimistic about the 24 yr old than the 28 yr old.
  19. On these cold winter days, I have been watching some old games on YouTube. Recently, I watched a 1969 game against the A's. The Red Sox OF was Yaz, Reggie Smith and Tony C. That was exciting.
  20. Oh, i thought he would have been off the COVID list by this time. Did he have complications?
  21. I have hope for Houck and see the rotation shaping up as ERod, Eovaldi, Perez, Richards and Houck. That is a shaky 5 man rotation, and the depth behind it is very weak.
