  1. you didnt consider Schilling an ace in 2004? Wasnt he a 20 game winner with like 200 K's? From what I remember, the guy was damn good that year
  2. yeah I shold rephrase my previous comment. During our run, we had guys who stepped it up when it counted. Normally you equate that to the guys with the most physical ability and talent. I guess that's why I really want an ace, because even if they're off during a big game, at least their physical talent can help to overcome it.
  3. I tend to think of Andy Petite as a dominant pitcher. he had an incredible win-loss percentage after yankee losses. We also had Clemens for some of those years. Too many things have to work out for you if you dont have a true ace. True aces don't guarantee victories, but they sure as hell make it a lot easier.
  4. Sizemore is gonna cost you a lot more than Reed would.
  5. Trust me, from a burned Yankee fan. You ALWAYS go for the top guy. If we had one of those in 2004...
  6. no way is Sizemore going to Boston if coco isn't. Sizemore is by far the better player.
  7. well they've already traded Hanley, so...
  8. The links were not meant to say so and so hadf the better attendance. I posted it to show the fluctuation that appears in both markets as well as other markets, in that when the teams win, attendance rises, when it loses, attendance falls. So if you goto a ballpark and boo the performance of a club that is rebuilding for the future, why can't you just choose to stay home instead? One might even suggest that the person who forks over 40 bux for a ticket to watch a team not even trying to contend is more of an idiot than someone who chooses to show his displeasure with the team by not bothering to waste his hard earned money. Put it this way, would you pay money to go watch a movie that promises its sequel will be much much better? I was using hyperbole and tossing that number off the top of my head.
  9. Then don't boo if your team loses 100 games. When teams win, people go watch them, when they lose, not as many people go watch them. In case you havent noticed, it's pretty expensive to go watch a game these days, why do it when your team isn't putting in the effort to get a winning ballclub on the field? Ask anyone with a family to support if he's willing to to forkover 200 bux for tickets, food, and parking for one night to watch the losing end of a 10-3 thrashing. It's called getting your money's worth, if you dont get this concept, look at the situation with Marlins fans, you think they feel the way you do? http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/NYY/attend.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/BOS/attend.shtml The attendance figures are there. Both teams are like every other team, when they're bad, less people go see them, when they are winning, more people go see them.
  10. lucky guy. I think it's still to early to tell though. Once the Manny situation is settled, we'll both know if we should bother getting excited for our first series next year.
  11. I think Damon woulda signed with Boston for less than the Yanks offer had they given him the Varitek treatment.
  12. i always liked Mueller. he coulda fit real well with the Tino-Paulie clubhouses
  13. Would you still be willing to pay the highest prices in the league to watch a team of the future?
  14. I'm surprised why the Sox are offering Clement in the deal unless it's a salary dump. BTW, is Boston paying any of Manny's contract in this trade scenario?
  15. Oh I'm sorry were you expecting me to sit by and wait for you to dig up more stuff form the Internet? Excuse me for being late on your 5 minute schedule. It's on Google btw, as are all your "trivia" questions. http://www.thebaseballpage.com/players/lylesp01.php This is a lame game, if you want to quiz people on their baseball knowledge you do it according to the years they were born. Why dont you tell us what red Sox player in 1935 had the first 3 hit game of the year for his club? Oh I'm sorry, that's not your timetable? Then don't playt this retarded you dont know nothing from when you wasnt born, you aint no fan game.
  16. the answer is ROn Blomberg and Orlado Cepeda btw. Ask something not found on google
  17. sigh I hate google trivia questions
  18. man thats the price I pay for not reading the papers everyday liek I used to
  19. I cant respect Tejada as any sort fo leader ever since I saw Giambi chew him out for loafing it on the bases while they were both on the A's during the first round against the Yanks
  20. thats just Miguel being Miguel
  21. If your FO is serious about focusing on 2007, then I don't see them making a move for a SS or CF in which they may have to give up a good or great prospect. I believe the Manny situation will determine what the FO's real plan for 2006 is.
  22. fine with me. He provides the insurance that Nomar could have for us. except he coems at a MUCH cheaper price.
  23. sweet! I always liked him as a player
