  1. am I the only one who sees this team going on a Yankees-like run from the late 90's? I dont see any weaknesses in that team at all.
  2. Let's play a game. You are the Yankees President/GM and have blackmailed Steinbrenner into giving you total control of the team, what would you do to make the Yankees a better team? Realistic things only I would.. 1. Put Gene Michaels in charge of all scouting and make him my secondhand man. 2. fire that fatty, Billy Connors, and every other idiot from the Tampa office. 3. resign Bernie to a 2 year 3 million dollar deal to be a good switch hitter off the bench 4. double the budget for international scouting, and heavily market the Yankee brand in the Dominican Republic so that the young talent will be killing each other to see a Yankee scout, and theoretically will increase the amount of talent that scounts see. I've got some others, but they're more like wishes, not really things I see can happen. Trading Giambi, etc. I think the Cubs or some other NL team might actually take Sheff (especially if they feel they can compete next year) for a really good CF for us. Thoughts?
  3. puzzling move. I dont see anyone on the FA who's an upgrade over Edgar. Almost seems like a move for the sake of making a move.
  4. It's a good thing they're right next to the water. They gonna need it for that fire sale they having
  5. I odn thave the link, but in today's post it says the Yankees have made an offer to Nomar to play first base.
  6. Someone need to tell Lyle about the rules of the AL East Club. Rule #1: You do not call out the Yankees or Red Sox unless you ARE the Yankees or red Sox Rule #2: You do not call out the Yankees or Red Sox unless you ARE the Yankees or red Sox! Rule #3: You do not call out the Yankees or Red Sox unless you ARE the Yankees or red Sox!! That being said though. That rotation of theirs just might be the best in the division.
  7. I'm pretty sure they're trading him, and my suspicions are that an AL East team will be in the hunt for his services come tradiing deadline
  8. How can anyone be surprised that they are acting like little brats over a silly ball? this is coming from the same management that bungled Theo's contract. Only the Red Sox could tarnish the euphoria of their first championship in 86 years with a dispute over a ball, letting go of popular stalwarts of the championship team, and then getting swept in the playoffs. Could there be a Doug Mientkiewicz curse looming???
  9. wait, he passed up a 5 year deal from the Jays to sign with the Pods?
  10. wow...I'm speechless. Am I the only one who thinks that the Blue Jays wil be begging someone to take one of these guys off their hands in a year or two?
  11. I've already conceded to you, go build a team of sluggers with no defense and tell me how that works out for you.
  12. Alright I give up with you. You refuse to see the importance of defense and how its team play that gives Ortiz the opportunity to deliver those clutch hits. Go back to playing rotisserie baseball.
  13. Without guys playing good defense, you might never get a chance to get the game winning hit. A lot of things have to happen that are created by Ortiz's teammates in order for him to be in that situation in the first place, and playing good defense is one of them. I can understand your enthusiasm for Ortiz, and I wouldnt have a problem with him as MVP as I have said before, but him being put in that situation to deliver a clutch hit in the first place is the result of hardwork from the guys playing on the field.
  14. wow, a FA using the Yankees as leverage? I'm shocked
  15. I can see your line of thought on this one and I for the most part agree with it. Just to point out though, because their offensive stats were so similar, ARod got the edge because he plays a position (any position) in the field. I'm sure if there was a catcher with stats similar to ARod, he might get the nod over him because he plays a more challenging position.
  16. Plus, he loves kittens. http://www.icicom.up.pt/blog/take2/shrek-gato.jpg
  17. Cashman is gangsta
  18. I wish you guys would make up your mind on how to insult ARod. Do you keep insisting that he and Jeter hate each other or do you go with the gay jokes. whatever the case, please come upw ith new material.
  19. agree with ORS. A guy who's such a compulsive gambler he that breaks the #1 rule in baseball to bet on games that he is involved in, can you really say he could stop himself fomr betting against his own team? Compulsive gamblers will steal from their own mothers.
  20. humm thats a pretty good point. I don't really have a good comeback for that. How about I offer you free porn to forget about it?
  21. I dont expect anyone to yield to our opinion of ARod. Only that they stop bringing everyone down just to build up Ortiz to be some kind of Superman. As for Arod being a team player. Well let's just say my favorite teams were the 94-96 teams, and leave it at that. At least I'm a team player, and will take one for the team
  22. I'm just being real
  23. but Ortiz isn't one of them. On the other hand, Ortiz hits, which Arod does also BTW of course we're going to defend ARod. You're badmouthing him. We show the stats and the arguments that he plays defense, and you label them as excuses. shrug, just can't win with some of you folks.
  24. Why do players always make it sound like it is? They must be liars, after all you would know better than them. I'm glad you agree that ARod has more talent than Ortiz.
  25. let me know when you're done editing your post so I can reply
