  1. forgot you guys had sent in part of Edgar's salary. I can't figure out why he didn't produce in Boston. Very good career numbers. Still young, performed well on the big stage in 97. Any guesses? Was it a mental thing? Or merely too high expectations? Cuz I didnt think his numbers were that bad, then again I didnt have ot watch him every game.
  2. haha I hope not. I think its about treating the job more professionally. While I htink it would work with a veteran club, I'm not sure how the youngsters on the Marlins would take it. Then again, with the year that they're looking at, I'm not sure they have much of a choice. I don't think anyone will be too pleased to listen to them complaining about their facial hair when they could wind up challenging the Mets record for losses.
  3. Could you be more specific about who you're talking to next time?
  4. I think I speak for everyone when I say, Many many many thanks to you fro setting this up SFoC.
  5. Theres a difference between trashing the FO and trashing the fans.
  6. A GM who doesnt molest his underlings, and who knows how to stop trading for overinflated big contracts. Or maybe someone who knows that McDeyss game was absed entirely on his athleticsim and that he would never be the same after his surgery so that there was no need to do that Camby and Nene trade for McDeyss. And that we coulda drafted Amare instead, and still kept Camby. Oh I'm sorry, I'm going off on a tangent. Alright, I'll settle for a cookie.
  7. I like Bill when he disses on people. I remember this game on TV I think it was a Rockets game, and he was like "Kelvin Cato just threw the worst pass in the history of the Rockets organization" and then for a follow up "Kelvin Cato has the worst hands in Rockets history" I mean cmon, how can you not love that
  8. He's like Bill Walton. Only problem is I think he believes his own hyperbole. I can't decide to call Tim Capt. Redundancy or Mr. Hyperbole. Someone give me a hand here
  9. This is the quote from Tim McCarver that made me realizehe was a complete idiot. "You know, pitching is about throwing strikes." Thanks Tim, really, great work.
  10. While I love what JD's offense will do for the lineup, and I think could bring us to 100+ wins this year, I do not like the man himself. I'm one of the few fans who have never accepted Clemens as a Yankee, and I've always felt that he piggybacked his way to the championships here. I just dont think the man can perform well under pressure on a consistent level. I hope you guys never applaud Johnny Damon. For a guy to come out and say he will never play for the Yankees and then to go over there and start using words like "I'm a Yankee blah blah blah" is personally something I do not appreciate. If he had come along with Giambi to the Yankees, he probably would have said the same thing "I will never play for the Red Sox" and then sign on with you guys this year. If people like Tino or Scotty Bro had signed with the Sox, I would have been absolutely crushed.
  11. There's a difference between being an apologist and pointing out simple facts that the Yankees are merely trying to better their product by all resources available. Wouldn't rather have that than someone to decide that a $15 million payroll is fiscal responsibility when they earn $50 million a year in revenue?
  12. I don't blame you at all for feeling that way about Damon. When Andy left, there was a contingent in Yankee fans who bought the Tampa line that Andy had been having elbow issues, when in reality, he left for the Astros because George didn't make enough of an effort. Andy had an offer from the Sox I believe, but he turned that down to goto the Astros instead. I don't know why in recent years your team has had some of its icons goto the Yankees (the last two with success since they both won championships here). I can't help but speculate that it's either the Red Sox FO or the character of the players themselves. IMO it's a bit of both, because our FO isn't exactly the best in the world either, but for whatever reason our high profile guys havent started going over to the Sox, YET.
  13. I'm not sure if this statement is intended to help your argument, but I can't think that its doing much for your pride
  14. the Seahawks got screwed pure and simple. the "low block" call on matt hasselbeck was simply the icing on the cake.
  15. I dont see why you would respond in that fashion to his statement.
  16. My first ASB game was the 1995 edition with Larry Walker on the cover. My friend and I instituted the Larry Walker rule--you were'nt allowed to pick the Rockies because Larry Walker could hit a splitter that bounces 55 feet from the mound and still jack it out for a HR.
  17. Why should we be embarassed? We spend what we make, so why is it a bad thing? Wouldn't you prefer that your team maximizes their revenue on your team, rather than having it line the pockets of the owner? Now, do we always spend wisely, well that's a pretty easy one to answer
  18. he got let go from the Yanks broadcast booth because George didn't like him criticizing the Yanks so much.
  19. lol well according to their record, they're playing slightly above average. Without Kobe, they would be at best second worst record in the NBA.
  20. Yeah, it just sounded like some of the comments was almost forced. I've had many discussions with long time Red Sox fans, and it was always give and take. The young ones though :dunno: I'm sure Sox fans feel the same way with people who jumped on the Yankee bandwagon after '96. I disagree about an injury to RJ or Mussina. We had that last year with injuries to Wright, Pavano, and then Wang, but we still finished 1st. I dont think an injury will throw off everything. How many times do the Sox play the Jays? I had aSox friend who swore to kill Frank Catalanato XD
  21. SO you think Kobe has only helped them win THREE more games?
  22. sometimes I dont kow if the people who are arguing Boston v New York really mean it or its because of they keep reading how much of a rivalry it is. Not pointing any folks out, I just get that strange feeling sometimes. Anyway, I think the Yanks and Boston rotations stack up well against each other with their strengths and weaknesses. I think the Sox own the edge in middle relief but the Yanks own the edge in the 9th. The Yanks middle is suck ass, and frankly until Foulke proves he's over his brain fart from last year, I doubt anyone wants to see their team turn the ball over to a young guy, regardless of how promising he may be. As for the Offense, I think its pretty obvious the Yanks own an edge, just varies according to whether one is a Yank fan or not =P. As long as the Sox have Manny protecting Ortiz, though, I dont see why they cant combine for 80 HR, 230 RBI and 200 Runs scored.
  23. thats true, they did beat us last year I think.
  24. I disagree. Duke has the better college basketball program, UNC has more NBA stars.
  25. Are you serious. You think Hughes, Odom, Mhim, Brown, and Smush Parker is a .500 team??
