  1. Or he could pull a Roger Clemens on us and retire, then sign with a west coast team later.
  2. And there's STILL talk of Julio Lugo, which I totally do not understand, there's talk that we trade Wells to LA for Brazoban/Sanchez, and prospects, while after that we swing the prospect for Lugo. I don't understand that at all.
  3. We have a pretty damn good future team and this is just off teh top of my head C- Shoppach? 1B- Bladgerdon? 2B- Lowrie 3B- Marte SS- Pedroia OF- Murton OF- Ellisbury OF- Murphy P- Lester P- Papelbon P- Hansen P- Delcarmen P- Buchholz
  4. 26 did you not just read the last few posts? Pedro explanation- We never right off the bat bashed him, he was the one who started s*** with us and made himself look bad in RSNs eyes. If he had said, "It was great playing in Boston, I love the fans, but the ownership did not repspect me" then maybe we wouldnv'e bashed our FO. Johnny explanation- Let's say Derek Jeter is a FA. He's around 32 and is showing signs he may start to decline, you offer him a reasonable offer that is repsectfull to him and supplements what everyone else has offered. Then out of nowhere he signs with the Sox for an offer he never confirmed was real, and that he never told the Yanks about the offer, so they couldn't at leats match it? And after all the history he has with New York, all the accomplishments he's had with you, he just leaves for 2 million a year. How would YOU act?
  5. If the Jays keep pulling off this blockbusters then it would seem so, I'm not convinced that we'll crash n burn next year just yet. However our future is bright with all the young talent we're gettin soon.
  6. Well, the way you said it was kind of wierd, the 2 doller hoes, the rich guy bullying everyone. But him leaving hurts not only because he went to the Yanks or left the Sox but just the way he did it.
  7. Anyone get the sense that we're kind of re-building? Like we still have stars but we also have a lot of help coming in 2 years or less.
  8. That's a terrible haircut for him, he probably paid like 5 bucks for it too
  9. Yeah, he's trying to make himself look innocent instead of him slapping us in the face and going to the Yanks. He's trying to make it sound liek it wasn't about money, BS. i wish we had more players like Andy Pettite, of whom rejected a ridiculously high offer from the Sox when he was an FA, and without hesitation refused it because "I couldn't do that to the fans, and my teammates".
  10. Yeah, theyre not in for WS contention though.
  11. Yeah, the holes we have are quickly fixable and I have no problem filling them wiht the players we're thinking of filling them with (Graffy, Reed). This off-seasonwe have improved all-around offensively minus Damon, have gotten younger, and have improved our pitching a ton. All in all it's not a disasterous season.
  12. Since when do we need anotehr guy for the middle of the lineup? We had the same 3-4-5 last year except now -Millar and add Lowell
  13. It's good to be a Red Sox Minor league Manager
  14. Well...at least his book is going down the toilet
  15. Ohhh fine, let's be mature about it
  16. Fight Fight Fight Fight
  17. Everyone is saying we dropped down to third because of losing Damon, there are two issues I have with that: 1) No one player can drop a team down below two others, unless they are the BEST player in the league, or if the team sucks and 2) No way the Blue jays are better than us on paper. I've never heard of their SS, their catcher sucks, only solid OF they have is Wells, and Schill, Beckett, Wake, Papelbon, Clement/Arroyo > Halladay, Burnett, Lilly, Chacin, Towers.
  18. Id rather get rid of Clement for reed but if needed Ill trade Arroyo
  19. 1)first, we need someone who can help right away in the wells trade, probaly a bullpen guy Answer= Why? Unless it's Linebrink I'm not interested, and also we could use one of em when varitek gets to the end of his contract. 2) Harris plays 3B/2B and we already got guys in Pedroia and Marte for those positions Answer= Pedroia to SS 3)Id much rather have Nixon and Crisp in my lineup than Reed and Crisp Answer= I would not mind keeping Nixon if a) he wasn't injury prone, and he wasn't as old as he is. Reed and Crisp would make for a great young combo and if Reed reaches his power potential they could combine for 40 HRs a season. 4)I think we should keep Clement, who by the way went to the Allstar game last year...Gil Meche is a spot starter at best Answer= Clement was another Theo mistake IMO, yes he was great in the first half and he only made the team due to injury. And Gil mehce I agree isn't much but he may get us to mid-season where hopefully Lester can take over? If not, keep Wells until mid-season.
  20. How is our INF a concern, i like what we've done besides at 1st
  21. My Plan: 1) Trade Clement for Reed, Meche, if needed give money 2) Trade Arroyo for Crisp 3) Trade Wells to SD for one of their two top C prospects (Kottaras/Hundley) 4) Trade Nixon to WSH for INF Brendan Harris Lineup 1) Crisp, rf 2) Loretta, ss 3) Ortiz, dh 4) Ramirez, lf 5) Lowell, 3b 6) Varitek, c 7) Youkilis, 1b 8) Graffanino, 2b 9) Reed, cf Rotation 1) Schilling 2) Beckett 3) Wakefield 4) Papelbon 5) Meche Bullpen 1) DiNardo 2) Seanez 3) Timlin 4) Hansen 5) Mota 6) Foulke (if fails trade, call up Delcarmen)
  22. Also theyre sticking with history, they realize that the Yankees had success in the 90's because of home-grown talent who only knew Yankee baseball and it's style, also they had played together and were used to each other (chemistry). If Papelbon, Lester, Marte, Delcarmen, Hansen, Ellisbury all come up and play together for a few years, we will have that chemistry and players who know what is expected out of them. Meanwhile the Yankees can only buy spare parts who are all 30+ and giving up all their draft picks, etc.
  23. Well, as I pointed out in the other thread, Damon/Boras never seriously told the Sox that NYY had offered them that deal. I'm sure that if they did, we wouldv't at least gone up to 48 mill.
  24. Well, in the deals he ahs pulled, you have to kind of think he must be. I mean Beckett is 25, Marte is a propect, and we can plug in papelbon, and soon many others.
  25. I actually just heard Luchhino and Jed talking about what happened on WEEI. They said they hadn't heard of the Yankees deal, or at least Damon didn't tell them. SO it really was all Johnny/Boras who wanetd to go to NY. I'm sure if the Sox had heard from Johnny that he had a 52 million dollar deal in place they might have macthed it.
