Im sorry, you just have to watch Manny every game to understand how good of a hitter he really is... Andruw Jones hits 260. While Manny hits 320. Manny has more RBIs and the homers are about the same... Andruw is younger but he strikes out like crazy and he is a FA after next season so there is no guarente that he will be back for 2008. 2006 OBP SLG AVG OPS Manny- .439 .619 .321 1.058 Jones- 363 .531 .262 .894 Career Manny 411 .600 .314 1.011 Jones 345 .505 .267 850 The Numbers dont really compare Manny is a better hitter and his Defense is fine at Fenway park, and really not that bad anywhere eles.

The sox have been over the lux tax before, I think in 04 and 05, why would they care if they went a little bit over. They have money, they are a pretty sucsesful franchise wouldnt you say?

If you watched sox games last year you would no that he played a solid Center field, and he is also not slow, and can track balls down pretty well.

How can you bring that up... its clear that almost 50 of players did something, The entire New York Yankee lineup (slight exageration) when healthy this guy is lights out.

When Gagne was at the top of his game its hard to say anyone was better than him for that short period when he was completely healthy... Im not talking about an entire body of work.

why does he need a spectacular quality... He is going to be a solid player who hits around 300. gets 10-12 Hrs and drives in around 65. He will play solid defense, what more can we ask?

Manny isnt going anywhere... the deal is the Red Sox want young talented pitching, and teams wont part with that in this day and age especially for a 35 OF who is labeled as a headache (I personally dont fully agree with that) that is due 38 million for two years and has basically said that in order to waive his no trade clause the team would have to pick up the two option years for 20 million a season.

did you even watch the last half of the year, in 04 Foulke didnt throw hard and he was dominint, if healthy it could be a very good thing for our bullpen.

Foulke pitched well the second have of last year... Actually he pitched well for the first month of the season as well, if he can stay healthy he would be extremely valuable to our bullpen.

I know Tek is getting up there in age but, I really think he will work himself into great shape this winter and have a bounce back year. I expect 270. Between 17-20 Jacks and about 75 RBIS. That would be huge for the club next year. I mean with his skills behind the plate his offense is a nice bonus.
