  1. Papelbon was frigging nasty today, fastball look just as good as last year. He also looks bigger and stronger.
  2. Yeah he is no Trot Nixon, he is going to be a huge upgrade. As for his number I personally don't think he should be weaing it either, not that it really matters.
  3. I'm also guessing that he will gain more power as him career goes on, like a lot of young players.
  4. Haha, yeah the whole Ellsbury thing is probably an over reaction on my part. However, we could have still had Marte which would be nice for the future.
  5. IMO, we trade we back Crisp and a few prospects for a Chad Cordero type, then Play Willy Mo in center until Ellsbury is ready. Then the two can platoon or whatever. Jacoby looks like he is going to be one hell of a player, and he does remind me a lot of Johnny Damon with his slashing type swing. Why did the FO extend Coco, with him waiting in the wings? By the way Dice-K look nasty even if it was against B.C.
  6. Maybe you shouldn't be on a red sox board if you are not interested in the Red Sox.
  7. Beckett K'd five today in two shutout innings vs. NE today.
  8. It is not mind boggling, because all these other pitchers are not in their 40's. Pitchers eventually break down, and the Red Sox would be stupid to sign Curt now and risk him finally breaking down for good. If the red sox want Curt in the offseason they will be able to get him. It's not like he hates the organization, I mean if Curt goes out and pitches very well this year and it ends up costing them 2-3 million dollars more, then so what. It is in the Red Sox best intrest to do exactly what they are doing espescially with Lester and the rest of the young pitchers waiting in the wings. I also think this is a plus that Curt feels he has a chip on his shoulder, that can only be good for the 2007 Red Sox ballclub.
  9. Yet we seem to be compatative every year, except for the second half of last season. It also looks like the Red Sox could be one of the best teams in the AL this year, so yes I think the FO knows what they are doing. Renteria wasn't a horrible FO move the guy had a great track record but he just failed in Boston, players that like that sometimes just happen. I think most agree that Alex was to much of an offensive liability to keep around. I also think we will be happy with Lugo at short. As for DiceK he seems like the real deal, and they bid so much because he was so important to their plans that they could not afford not to obtain the negotating rights.
  10. I know its probably a day to soon but I'm getting really excited for some baseball action. Tomorrows game is at 7:00 PM on NESN The Red Sox lineup from Boston.com 1. Julio Lugo, SS 2. Kevin Youkilis, 1B 3. David Ortiz, DH 4. Jason Varitek, C 5. Mike Lowell, 3B 6. Wily Mo Pena, RF 7. Dustin Pedroia, 2B 8. David Murphy, LF 9. Jacob Ellsbury, CF Pitcher: Curt Schilling It will be interesting to watch Ellsbury play. Manny will not play until at least saturday according to manager Terry Francona. Manny wanted to play sooner, but Tito wants Manny to get his legs under him before he sees game action. Baseball =
  11. All I'm saying is that at 40 years old it makes no f***ing sense to give a guy an extension, untill he proves it over the season.
  12. Finally, a Yankee fan I can agree with.
  13. I personally think Schilling will be back. However, it would be a horrible business decsion to sign him now. Schilling did not win the W.S. by himself; did they owe Pedro anything how about Damon, Millar, Cabrera, Lowe? No, baseball is a buisness and the Red Sox front office is made up of a bunch of savy buisness men who know what the hell they are doing.
  14. The Red Sox organization does not owe Curt Schilling anything. We are all greatful for what Curt did, but it was his choice to pitch on the bad ankle. The organization did not force him on the field in game 6. They need to see, after a tough second half of the season last year if he can still bring it. If he proves that he is still worth having around come 2008, then the sox will pay him and bring him back.
  15. Best case scenario: Schill is fired up by being not being extended that he pitches like he has a lot to prove. That would be the best thing possible for the 2007 Boston Red Sox team.
  16. This is starting to get me really excited for baseball.
  17. Manny being Manny
  18. I second that.
