  1. They wont deal him unless they fall out? Are the Mets serious? Do they really still think they have a chance to win that division this year? I don't really know much about this guy but if he's as good as his ERA is then he'll be a welcome addition to the sox bullpen.
  2. Welcome to talk Sox ... eventhough you're already 300 posts in.
  3. I believe we can get one or the other, but to get both I believe we'd have to morgage the future. For us to get a legit MLB LRP we're going to have to give up a starter and a top prospect. To get burnett we're going to have to give up probably 2 prospects. I believe Theo is a one of the best GMs in the league, and I don't think he's willing to trade away the future to win another WS this year. If Theo trades 3 more prospects and we don't win this year he'll be crucified when we need those prospects in a year or two. I'd be happy with just JC Romero, or another good bullpen arm.
  4. Well you said long term so I have to go with Youk. I want Billy for the here and now of this season, and the playoffs, but he's gone after this year.
  5. Joaquin Benoit 1-0 0.69 ERA 27 K's 26.0IP
  6. I don't think it would take a pitcher out of his rhythm anymore than a manager arguing a call for 5 minutes does. As far as a system goes, I say that the coaches have no choice in weither or not a play is reviewed. The umps come together as they do now, and if none of them feel they got a clear enough look at the play they will go to the replay. If you do it like that then you don't have to worry about how many challanges to give each manager, or how to punish them for incorrect challanges.
  7. Oh boy the Yanks are sending Aaron Small to the hill today ... better watch out. You never know what a 34 year old who has never pitched in the league before can do. If you get to age 34 and you're still not in MLB I think theres a reason for it. I really hope the Yanks plan to move this guy into their rotation on a regular basis
  8. I'm hoping to get home from school in time to catch the end of this game. I'm not wild about Hyzdu being in there(former bucco), but belli and tony g being out there are just fine with me. Hopefully Wells can keep up the good work he did in his last 2 outings. 4ER over the last 2 games isn't bad at all, and the fact that he threw 13 innings also makes me feel good about todays game. I've been a big supporter of Boomah since he arrived in Boston, and I hope he'll be able to lower his 4.73 ERA just a little today. I'd like to see his ERA at least under 4.50, and a good outting today would make that happen.
  9. I believe that it does even out through a season because like you said every team gets boned on a call at one time or another. However, I think with the addition of replay less teams would get boned less often. I don't wanna hear that baseball games are already too long. If you can't stand watching an entire baseball game because it takes too long then you are not a fan of the sport. At least with baseball there is a lot of action in between commercials. Sometimes in football games its 1 play, commercial, 1 play, commercial, 1 play commercial, time out, punt, commercial, kick off commercial. Yes I agree that baseball games do take a long time, but I don't think that in retrospect they take any longer than a football game.
  10. 85 posts in 2 days. I'm starting to wonder if you guys think I'm a spammer ... hope not.
  11. I think you may be. Curt has been very solid in his last few outings. I think they're going to stick with him until Foulke is back. If Foulke comes back strong then you send Schill into the rotation and bring Wade into the bullpen. If Foulke is still garbage when he gets back then you just leave Schill as the closer. I really don't think Wags is an option anymore.
  12. I don't think Colts fans ever said the would be led by the best rookie QB of all time to a SB, enless they were lying. There can only be one best rookie QB of all time, and he's wearing black and gold. If you were talking about beating the Pats then .... eff you.
  13. I've yet to set foot inside Fenway. I'm planning on either making a trip up during my break from school in September, or possibly wait till next year when I'm finished with school. Have fun on your first night in the greatest park in the history of baseball.
  14. He's right. It has nothing to do wtih him not being a Red Sox, or him being a Yankee, it has everything to do with him being an A-hole. Hey just for old times sake lets relive that whole slapping at the ball thing. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/gijoe4life/asb.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/gijoe4life/A-RodSlapsBallG6-5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/gijoe4life/A-RodSlapsBallG6-4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/gijoe4life/A-RodSlapsBallG6.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/gijoe4life/ARodSchool.jpg Come on ... what's not to love about this guy?
  15. Well, it's about damn time the Pirates make a good decision. I didn't really understand their interest in Lowell or Bigbie considering neither of them are an upgrade.
  16. winking face or not, pictures of that game are going to piss me off. Can you guys try and win homefield this year, cause we really don't want the AFC Championship in Pittsburgh.
  17. Sorry can't do that. I don't take many notes on the performance of the 3rd base coach during a game. We really only notice him when he makes mistakes.
  18. Lowering the Mound - I really don't think it was nessicary. People seem to love high scoring in other sports, but most of the baseball fans I know inlcuding myself, would rather see a 1-0 game where theres a pitchers duel than a 17-16 game. DH - The DH is only a bad idea because it is only used in one league. If you want to keep it then you have to put it in the NL. The DH gives the AL a distinct advantage in a home WS game because AL teams carry a player just to fill that DH role, the NL doesn't. Strikezone - The strikezone is fine it's just that every umpire has his own interperatation of it. Juiced Balls - HA. More like juiced players. Steroids - see above Anyway I think that replay should be implemented in the game. We all what the right calls to be made and the right team to win don't we? Why would you want a wrong decision to be made, that could cost your team its season, instead of just stopping the game for a minute and checking the replay. Baseball is the hardest game to officiate because there are so many bang bang plays. Replay would only be a positive for baseball, not a negative. I also think that Pitch Quest thing or whatever it's called should be installed in every stadium. Even though it will never be used to replace the homeplate umpire, it has been proven that umps miss less calls with Pitch Quest in the stadium.
  19. ...? Ok big deal. Everyone knows the Steelers dont win AFC title games at home. Face it though, you guys had a great run, but now it's over. It's time for the greatest rookie QB of all time to win his first SB, and time for the Pats to ride off into the sunset. Remember we got better this offseason. The Pats lost their O-coordinator, their D-coordinator, Law is gone, Bruschi is gone, I know there are several others but it's been a while.
  20. Well I'm still sticking by Dale. I was quick to jump on him last year until I really thought about it. If he holds up Johnny then I bet half of RSN is screaming that he should have sent him. No matter what decision any coach makes someone will always think he was wrong. Sure Dale makes some bad decisions, but he also makes some very good ones.
  21. The media may have taken a few shots at the Yanks but every time you guys win 2 games in a row everyone starts talking about the Yanks winning the division.
  22. The Twinkies win and we now have sole possesion of first place again. Anyone wanna gloat like a Yankee fan?
  23. I'm gonna say it for the last time. Tito said Billy will not be playing 2B anymore due to the knee injuries in his past.
