  1. He's ManRam Jr. Since the first time I saw him play, for some reason, he reminds me of Manny. Too bad he may not be in left much longer. He's drawing me to the Marlins the same way Pedro drew me to the Sox. 6-3 BTW
  2. I dont see how you can say he settled down when he walked the first hitter.
  3. Mike Myers and his reverse clone warming in the bullpen
  4. Just realized the game would be on WGN ... damnit
  5. Sidney Ponson for Phil Nevin Just heard this on ESPN radio. Too hung over to find details.
  6. That's a lie ... unless Schilling has never seen Roy Oswalt pitch.
  7. Trust me you're wrong ... I watch him daily. He has 3 SB 1 CS. He has 5 errors this season, but that doesn't even begin to tell the story with his fielding. I don't think I've seen a major league player miss this many pop ups in 1 season.
  8. I actually heard on our local ESPN radio the other day that the Yankees had some interest in ... TIKE REDMAN. He's probably the worst defensive OFer in the league right now, and he couldn't hit a beach ball if you set it on a tee infront of him. If the Yankees are coming to the Pirates to solve their problems they're in big trouble. And besides Pirates GM Dave Littlefield said he will not make trades that would help the Yankees in any way.
  9. What farm system? They sold that years ago.
  10. Pedro is not a goon. He's not a head hunter. He's a great pitcher. When he thinks someone doesn't respect him he makes them respect him by throwing inside. If you're going to talk about a head hunter why don't you look at your ex-boy the Rocket. He doesn't just throw balls at people ... he throws bats.
  11. I dont think Johnny's popularity/looks has anything to do with him making any All Star teams, or gaining the respect of RSN. Johnny has always produced since being here, and last year he put up, possibly, the best year of any leadoff hitter in the history of the game. I don't ever remember KFK being the best at anything. The problem with KFK is that, no one cares about how fun he is or how relaxed he makes the team when he sucks. Trust me there are at least a few players on every team that do what Millar does in the clubhouse. Like it was said before I think Manny, and Papi do a good enough job keeping the team loose. If we trade Millar and realize we need someone who can make the team laugh ... I dont know ... we could probably sign Dennis Leary. He couldn't possibly be any worse than at 1B than KFK is. BTW I like KFK, but if we can improve the team let's improve it.
  12. I don't think anyone is going to argue about that. But, being able to add Romero, and Burnett mid season would really give this team the kind of boost it needs to make a strong run in the playoffs, hopefully. Lowell does have post season experience, and if he's able to have a half way decent second half this would be a great trade for the sox.
  13. Well I said I hoped I was wrong about Lowell so I hope your right. I guess I shouldn't have really mentioned this cause its gonna piss everyone off but whatever. Sosa's slump has nothing to do with being 36 though. it has everything to do with all the sudden shrinking back to the size he was when he came into the league. Rolen has been hurt most of the year so theres his excuse. Beltre, and Beltran had one good year. Justin Morneau is having a pretty decent year and it still young so I'm not surprised he's having his ups and downs. Bellhorn always sucks on odd years, and was never very good with the bay anyway.
  14. I don't think the change of scenery is going to help unless the place has a good 'roids dealer. I think Mike falls into that same category with Boone, Sosa, and the others. I really don't want to accuse him of using roids because I was a fan of his, but it seems like the only logical answer. Theres is no way to explain having three 20+ HR seasons, then all the sudden only having 4. Heres Lowell's numbers this season compared to the 2 guys who he may be replacing. Lowell G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 2005 85 313 33 72 26 0 4 39 110 23 41 1 0 .281 .351 .230 Millar G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 2005 82 277 34 76 17 1 4 33 107 36 40 0 1 .367 .386 .274 Mueller G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 2005 85 281 39 79 17 2 4 38 112 41 42 0 0 .382 .399 .281
  15. ... If your talking to me ... then I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't say Youks name at all in my post. I was just saying that its not going to be possible to trade Lowell to the twins to get romero, because we have to get Mays in order to get Burnett and Lowell.
  16. Well how do you expect us to get lowell without trading the fish Mays? We have to make the trade to the Twinkies first simply so we can get the pieces to make the trade to the marlins. Trust me I'd rather keep ballgame and trade Lowell, but its just not possible.
  17. I think we're jinxing these trades by posting them. It seems like as soon as we start a discussion about a rumored trade someone on ESPN, or NESN shoots it down. I'd hate to lose Billy because I think he brings more to the table than just his numbers, especially in the playoffs. That being said, what the Sox need right now is help in the bullpen, and that is exactly what these trades are going to do. I really don't like giving up Bronson because he is still young, has a tiny contract, and has one of the prettiest curveballs I've ever seen. Although, if Theo is intent on giving up a pitcher from this staff I'm happy its Bronson and not Wade Miller. If Wade is brought back next year(I think the Sox have a club option) then he is going to surprise everyone in the league. I guess when it boils down to it I'd rather trade Bronson than Wade, or another project.
  18. Must be nice to have too many WRs to chose from. We have 1 legit NFL WR on the team this year, and another guy who could possibly be the next Steve Smith type guy. Other than that though our recieving core is pathetic. Every day this off season I've felt less and less confident about this Steelers season. I'm really getting worried that we're not gonna get Hines Ward signed in time for camp. I think if we don't get a deal done by then he's gonna walk after the year ... which would leave us with 0 recievers. Good thing we run the ball 65% of the time.
  19. Trading Youk would make no sense at all. Youk is the future at 3B, and since Billy is getting up there in age I'd feel better trading him. I don't think Theo would even consider trading Youk because we never know when Billy is gonna break down. Trading Youk would instantly make atleast half on RSN turn on Theo ... no matter what we got in return.
  20. We couldn't give lowell to mini because we have to get a pitcher from the Twinkies to get Lowell and Burnett. Plus I don't really think the twins are gonna want to take on that kind of salary especially considering they let corey koskie walk away last year because they didn't want to pay him.
  21. I was just saying that to my friend last night. I really think KFK is starting to look comfortable at the plate, and just maybe we should stick with him. Last year he blew up in the 2nd half, and I think he may be getting ready to do it again this year. Although his power numbers still haven't really come around yet, his average is at .293 over the last 30 days. I really hope he can get things going with the power soon. I've never really been wild about Millar, even last year, but it would still be strange to watch the Sox and not see him out there.
  22. It's good you accept that fact that the Sox are going back to the World Series this year.
  23. The Orioles lose to the Twinkies again 3-2. Jacque Jones hit a homer after Sosa struck out with 1st and 3rd in the top of the 9th.
  24. How do you know that it was Tito's decission to keep Mueller off 2nd. I think it is very likely that Tito may have gone to him and asked him how he'd feel at 2nd, and Mueller said he didn't want to play there. I'm not trying to throw Billy under the bus. He has every right to say that he doesn't want to play 2nd base because of his knees. Even if this was Tito's decision it was a good one. Why would you move a player with bad knees into a position where, one a nightly bases, someone is trying to take your legs out? Doesn't make any sense to do that. I agree with you though on your second gripe with Tito. It made no sense to allow Wade to pitch to a left handed batter in that situation. I don't care if you have no faith in Embree at all. If you warm Embree up to pitch to a left handed batter, then put him in the game.
  25. What's really funny is that the Yanks can't even move any of their vets for some younger players in the future because they all have enormous contracts. I don't care how much money you have you can't make a team when you have no players to trade. They might as well try to get the best player they can because they're f***ed in a few years anyway.
