  1. yeah and the lefty kris johnson just came off tommy john surgery last year. he must have amazing stuff to be drafted 40th overall after blowing his arm out!
  2. we need to give him a legit shot at the rotation not just one or 2 relief outing...he does us no good being the AAA pitcher of the year...i think he will never have trade value...if he is good enough to be our #5 started then great lets keep him...but if he isnt good enough then we will have to dump him for NOTHING because nobody is going to want a blind soft throwing pitcher that cant make it in the bigs!!!
  3. my avatar is his high school senior picture...i think he is good looking!!!
  4. little something from baseball america... "Red Sox lefthander Abe Alvarez is the IL's winningest pitcher after Sunday's win over Rochester. Alvarez now stands at 5-0, 2.18 in 41 innings. Alvarez is proving himself against lefties, to whom he's allowed just five hits in 30 at-bats (.167). Righties are hitting just .205, but have been able to get the ball in the air more frequently, with 49 flyouts compared with 34 groundouts. Alvarez, 23, has surrendered all four of his home runs to righthanded batters "
  5. Alvarez got another win today. Heres the line: 5.0IP 5H 1R 0ER 2BB 2K Season line: 23IP 11H 5ER 7BB 12k 1.96ERA 3W 0L
  6. He pitched tonight and gave up his first runs of the season. Tonights line 1.2 IP 3H 4R 3ER 2BB 2K . Seasons line. 11 IP 8 H 3 ER 5 BB 12 K
  7. my batting stance is like ricky hendersons and my wind up is a carbon copy of doc gooden.
  8. i think they called alvarez up because of the looming suspension to wells. just in case alvarez needs to make an emergency start for wells.
  9. alvarez started shakey but got some help and the win yesterday. 11-4 now with 100k's. not too bad for the "soft thrower". here is a little stat i like to look at for starting pitchers...wins to games started. alvarez has 22 starts and 11 wins. usually if a starting pitcher can win half his starts he is doing well.
  10. 9 batters faced...9 batters out...looking good.
  11. why are all of us red sox fans getting mad at sheffield? i love this guy! anything that is going to cause some kind of disfunction in the yankee clubhouse should be applauded. sheffield just became my favorite yankee for the time being. f*** all those yankee bitches!!!!
  12. couldnt agree with you more, its a perfect day to get his feet wet.
  13. here is a recent interview, it sounds like the kid has a good head on his shoulders http://www.redsoxnation.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=17072&
  14. wasnt kent tekulve a schzio on crack?...i agree, i dont trust any of the young call ups to handle pressure situations. it would be nice to see them play through the season and not just be thrown into a role.
