  1. And we're giving up prospects in that trade! Theo wouldn't survive that kind of blunder.
  2. The 2-out double seems to be working tonight, now let's bring him in Billy Mill!
  3. 2-run Bomb by Garrett Anderson, 2-0 Halo's.
  4. I'm listening on WEEI, and Manny got boo'ed a little when he was introduced.
  5. Torii Hunter hurt himself trying to make the catch in the triangle. Hope he's alright. Stretcher out on the field. And, David Ortiz IS William Wallace.
  6. All of the things mentioned suck, but none of them suck as badly as not being able to spell the word "deal".
  7. Trading any combination of Sanchez, Lester, Papelbon, Pedroia, and Ramirez for Huff and Baez would be a huge mistake in my opinion. We killed Baez in our last series in Tampa. The rest of the East will as well at some point. He is the shiny kernel of corn in the steaming pile of s*** that is the 4A Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Huff can get hot, but he's still only hitting .266, and he's a defensive liability. In other words, he's Kevin Millar with a little more pop in his bat. That sounds like just what we need! We already have the best DH in baseball, we don't need another one.
  8. If Mickelson, Els, or Garcia can manage the course and stay out of the rough, then the chances are good. Singh hasn't struggled with his accuracy, but his putter has disappeared for a little while.
  9. Joel Peralta and Esteban Yan ate up most of those innings. KRod threw 1 inning. Shields threw 1/3.
  10. Reyes plays short, so where do they fill that hole once they move him to third? Which I doubt they would want to do since he is a slick-fielding shortstop. But that isn't the thing that will make this trade not happen. The money is. Wright's making 350K. That's pennies for the type of game he brings to the field. There is only one better value playing this year and it's Miguel Cabrera, who is making 350K as well, but is putting up insane numbers in Florida.
  11. Yeah, if I ever want a nice afternoon nap on the weekends, putting golf on the tube usually works for me. I'd much rather play, which I do about once a week.
  12. I don't think this trade will happen either, but your logic is slightly flawed. There is a big difference between the Mets of two years ago and the Mets of today. His name is Omar Minaya, and he wasn't in charge to not take on Manny's contract when he was on waivers.
  13. While Tiger Woods is obviously the heavy favorite coming into this year's PGA Championship, I think Baltrusol may prove to be a challenge for him to win his third major this year. Reports have the course playing very tight for this year's final major. Narrow fairways will be the norm, which will be quite a change from the Old Course at St. Andrew's where Woods either lead or was close to leading the field in fairways hit. The primary rough will be 4" long. I still think Tiger will win if he is able to continue his accurate driving, however I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the traditionally more accurate hitters (Funk, Goosen, Toms, DiMarco) come out on top. What do you think golf fans?
  14. Jon Papelbon says, "You already have several Bellhorn threads".
  15. Their pitching gave up 3 runs, only 2 of them earned, in 36 innings against the Angels. With their arms, and Halladay returning, they could pull a Oakland/Houston in a heartbeat.
  16. Portland vs. New Britain 7/28/05 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 3 K
  17. I know this is off topic, but the Guillen and Sosa play ought to be reviewed by MLB. If you watch either replay, they are both extending their legs so as to maximize the impact. The intent to hurt was there on both plays. Erstad running into the catcher to knock the ball loose is playing hard, kicking your leg "spikes-up" is an attempt to disable. I think suspensions should be issued.
  18. Any word on how long he will work-out in Ft. Myers, and when/where he will make his first appearance in the farm system?
  19. Roberts hits .333, slugs .561, OBP .407 Soriano hits .281, slugs .545, OBP .316
  20. You are the one that said name a more productive 2B. However, you didn't say name a more productive 2B from last year, or career stats. Production is, "What have you done for me lately?". Roberts is a better hitter, more disciplined at the plate, better on the basepaths, and a better fielder. Soriano hits more homeruns.
  21. I used to think the same thing from how it looked on TV, but I went to the "Trop" for the first time on Tuesday night's game, and have to say, TV doesn't do it justice. It's a decent venue.
  22. Brian Roberts is the best second baseman in baseball, but yoda says, "Available, he is not".
  23. I thought the "Rumor Mill" was for actual Rumor's heard in the media or elsewhere, not flights of whimsy.
  24. A baseball is much less massive than the human head. Much less massive things transfer very little enery to the more massive one during a collision. The skull is very hard everywhere except the temple, and baseballs, while hard, can compress and bounce.
  25. It's a joke, and a warning.......come to talk baseball and everything is hunky-dorie. Make more posts trashing NESN, the Sox, etc. and you are going to have an avalanche of taunts, jokes, and overall nastiness headed your way.......and not just from me.
