  1. Yes, steroids do make you stronger. But who do you think is stronger, a smaller Giambi or Soriano? Giambi makes Soriano look like an stick figure, yet Soriano has more HR's. Why? Soriano has been hitting the ball with the sweet spot all season long, while Giambi has only been doing it a month.
  2. Hank Aaron said it and I'll reiterate it, "Steroids don't help you hit the ball with the fat part of the bat". Giambi, who is noticably smaller this year, is still a big strong player. His MVP year he was crushing the ball and hitting .330+. He's just found his stroke again, and will be a tough out as long as he has it.
  3. I think Boston fans, due to their years of suffering, are unfamiliar with the mindset of a fan who's team has a tradition of winning. Keeping that in mind, I also think that players and coaches that were the core of a team that has already been a dynasty deserve a bit of a free-pass from scrutiny spurred by recent struggles. While the writing was on the wall the past two years concerning Bernie, this has been the first year he has really struggled. Best case scenario for Bernie and Yankee fans alike is if he decides to either hang it up after this year or take a pay cut and diminished role. Go out with class instead of hanging on to former glory.
  4. The East Div. winner will have to have a better record than the Angels for the White Sox to play the Angels in the first round.
  5. Look on the bright side, if their time on the schnide continues, you may not hear from him until the postseason when he will be predicting how badly the Sox will get beat.
  6. I really don't like the idea of trading any of our (Crespo designated) "Big Three" of Sanchez, Lester, Papelbon. That being said, I think Burnett's inconsistancy can be justified a little. '02 was his first full time starter year and he went through some growing pains while showing flashes of brilliance. '03 and '04 were shorted and disappointing due to real pains as he was injured. '05 is really his second full time healthy year and he is definitely improving. With his stuff the ceiling is still very high for him. Health is always a concern. He's at least made it to the show and performed, something that an injury could prevent any of those B3 from ever doing. EDIT: Arroyo still has some ceiling room too. With the quality of his offspeed pitches, he has the potential to be a solid middle of the rotation starter. But right now, the book is out on him. He's having a lot of difficulty locating his FB, which max's in the very low 90's. That velocity will work in the bigs if you can locate it, but Bronson hasn't achieved full command of it yet. As long as his location is struggling, hitters are going to sit on the curve in the zone and hammer it.
  7. Heard it on SportsCenter or ESPN radio, not sure, early, no coffee yet.
  8. Nevin waived his no-trade clause, the deal is going down.
  9. Have the brooms on standby for tomorrow's Mussina vs. Washburn matchup.
  10. 3 pitch strikeout of ARod......1 out from a 2.5 lead
  11. Is it me, or is the wait on gameday aggonizingly long sometimes.
  12. Darren Erstad, aka David Duval, needs a hit here so Vlad can break some NY hearts again tonight.
  13. He has been injured prior to this year, and I'm more of a "What have you done lately" kind of guy.
  14. Just checked Burnett's away splits, his ERA is 3.84 on the road.
  15. Miller at the top of his game is better than Arroyo at the top of his. They hit similar velocities on the gun, but Miller's FB has much more movement. Both have excellent curves. If the deal involves Arroyo, Miller becomes our #5. I'd like to have a #5 that can throw like he did tonight.
  16. Erstad double......floodgates have opened, 7-3
  17. Graman replaces Brown.......that guy's mlb stock photo is eff'ing SCARY!
  18. Double your pleasure Chone, 5-3
  19. Adam Kennedy, if he could stay healthy, would be in the conversation for best second baseman in baseball.
  20. Davanon leads off with a 4 pitch walk from Brown.
  21. Don't take offense, I'm a very sarcastic individual......something that doesn't come out well online.
  22. VLAD the IMPALER!!!!!!!
  23. Erstad says thanks for the extra 60 BA points as he flies out to left.
  24. Kevin "I broke my hand, but that phone will never work again" Brown walks the first two in the third.
  25. Great, Vlad DP, I get to taste my foot!
