  19. Ex-Yankee Lilly, Jays aim to improve one-run luck New York (85-62) at Toronto (72-75), 1:07 p.m. ET Left-hander Ted Lilly will take the mound in the finale of a three-game series with the Yankees on Sunday. It will be Lilly's third start since returning from the disabled list. In his last outing, the southpaw picked up the loss against the Red Sox after yielding three runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings on Sept. 12. Lilly has given up 12 runs on 14 hits in two starts against the Yankees this season. Lilly will be opposed by New York's Jaret Wright. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 3.37 ERA in his last six starts. In his last start, Wright gave up two runs on five hits in seven innings and picked up the win against Tampa Bay on Sept. 13. On Saturday, Toronto rookie Gustavo Chacin allowed just one run in seven strong innings, but the Blue Jays' offense sputtered in a 1-0 loss to the Yankees. The loss gave Toronto six defeats in its last seven games and dropped the Blue Jays three games below .500 for the first time this season. Pitching matchup NYY: RHP Jaret Wright • 5-2, 5.37 ERA in 2005 • 1-0, 0.00 ERA vs. TOR in 2005 TOR: LHP Ted Lilly • 8-10, 5.61 ERA in 2005 • 0-1, 12.96 ERA vs. NYY in 2005

  21. lets not forget the gold glove DP's he had turned last night in the end that were very clutch and help kept the A's to just the 1 run. I for one also am giving him the benefit of the doubt
  22. all we need to do is the "bellichick method", one game at a time
  23. Well that was an ugly loss me and my girlfriend had witnessed seeing at Boston College, >, it was a bad 4th quarter needless to say--we had everyone not tell us the score of the sox game, and came back to her place to watch the game in its entireity, thank you TIVO!! man sure the offense wasnt there, but as dennis eckersley and tom caron said this was basically the type of games we see in October. Bronson is starting to come around, a no hitter into the 5th inning and though encountered trouble he, Paps and Timlin combined for a 4 hitter 1 run game Good to see Manny break out of his stride, but still I worry for Tek (6 hits in last 50 at bats), Edgar (11 hits in last 65 at bats, his error though did make great DPs) and Trot (9 hits in last 47 at bats). I still give best defensive props to Alex Cora, cant believe Sox just had to give up Ramon Vazquez for this solid D of a player If Sox do hopefully get into playoffs, as it is now definitely have Paps as the 8th inning set up man and Timlin as our closer, 9 pitches all strikes gassing by the A's batters. Heres hoping later on today same game as this one in Sox's favor, but still I think we've waited long enough for a 14-5 type blowout game haha. Kirk Saarloos has been tough on the Sox in the past, Clement hopefully dusted himself off from Toronto
  24. damn he's doing a millar move right there again, thinking he can stretch the single into a double
