  9. i dont do sox threads because back in june i had done 3 sox game threads in a row all losses, so hey i didnt feel like making them anymore, and by the way dude calm down ok its called copy and paste, which is actually not that long of a time. but hey i like to keep track of these games especially now. i do what im going to do
  10. point being you cant act like yankees are dominating on the road when just this past week they went over .500, so really its close to split even on paper
  11. you do realize wake is just a thorn in the d-rays ass as kazmir is to the sox, right? Wake at Tropicana Field is 6-0 with a 1.79 ERA
  12. well thats just tough for you, I do them ahead of time after i get out of classes so can get it out of my way before I do my homework. really this is a red sox message board?? you are frigging kidding me, dude get a life and stop worrying whose making what threads and if people have more posts than you. its immature needless to say

  14. Orioles try to rebound without the Ailing Roberts Baltimore (70-80) at New York (87-63), 7:05 p.m. ET The Orioles lost more than a ballgame on Tuesday; they lost their sparkplug and leading hitter in Brian Roberts, who dislocated his left elbow in a collision at first base with the Yankees' Bubba Crosby. Roberts is likely lost for the season, and the Orioles eventually dropped a 12-9 decision. Now, they face Randy Johnson as they try to win their first game in this four-game set. Right-hander Rodrigo Lopez will go for the Orioles. He is vying to match his career high of 15 wins, which he set in his rookie season of 2002. Lopez has been able to win No. 15 in two attempts. In his previous start, Lopez allowed four runs in six innings and was charged with a loss to Tampa Bay. Johnson, who was ejected from his start last Friday in Toronto for arguing balls and strikes, apologized to his teammates afterward. Johnson has had an uneven first season with the Yankees. He is tied for third in the American League with 30 home runs allowed in 204 1/3 innings. Johnson, however, has won one of his two starts against the Orioles, striking out 12 in 13 innings over those two outings. Jay Gibbons continued to cement his status for next season with a two-run homer on Tuesday, his 23rd, matching his total from 2003. Gibbons hit just 10 home runs with 47 RBIs in an injury-plagued 2004 season. Pitching matchup BAL: RHP Rodrigo Lopez • 14-10, 4.86 ERA in 2005 • 1-1, 5.71 ERA vs. NYY in 2005 NYY: LHP Randy Johnson • 14-8, 4.01 ERA in 2005 • 1-0, 4.15 ERA vs. BAL in 2005
  15. next season is still looking sketchy for foulke coming back---figure that right now its not smart to have him on the playoffs roster and thats saying a lot
  16. Mike Timlin will handle it just fine for rest of the season and into the playoffs--Craig Hansen as Remy said could take on the role of permanent closer as early as during 2006, Billy Wagner is demanding upwards of up to $30 million, Theo will not go for that
  17. Yes hands down Gordon and Mo are best end of game pitchers compared to Sox We still have trusted relievers in Timlin, Papelbon, Delcarmen, DiNardo and Hansen---Bradford and Myers are both reliable when they are used in lefty/righty situations. I dont think you realize that this is the best month the Sox bullpen has had in a bit. Al Leiter a reliable reliever, you say huh? in September in 3 games (1 started) he has a 7.20 ERA. Let alone alot of times batters are able to make contact with his pitches, a .292 opposing batting avg is not something to hold onto for your relievers to have. September in 3 games (9.2 innings) 17 Hits, 10 Runs (7 ER), 2 Walks, 5 Ks you do realize that just this past week yankees for the first time in awhile were able to go over the 500 mark on the road, so dont act all high and mighty right there. Sox 38-39 Yanks 38-36
  18. Papelbon was only "bounced back and forth from starter to reliever" is that the team needed him to make some spot starts when wade miller was shut done for a couple of weeks, then 2 more starts when he was shut down completely. They kept him on board because of the stability he could and has brought to the bullpen. He wasnt bounced back and forth because they had any doubts or whether. Even Remy and Don said they will be surprised if hes not in the rotation for 2006
  19. whoah... well its me who put up theses stats, and i stand with what ive done---if Millar and Damon's avg drops for what they have done in sept then i'll move them
  20. there is so far suddenly sunglight creeping through the rain clouds, tek and trot breaking out big from their slumps last night and hope to see this good fortune continue, now just like to see edgar do what he had done last month updated september stats (updated September 21) September Stats, Cause for Concern Edgar Renterria- 12 for 73 (.164 avg) 2 Doubles, 7 RBIs, 9 Runs, 3 Walks, 14 Ks Doug Mirabelli- 3 for 17 (.176 avg) 2 Doubles, 1 Run, 7 Ks Jason Varitek- 10 for 56 (.179 avg) Double, 5 RBIs, 3 Runs, 8 Walks, 17 Ks In the Middle Alex Cora- 6 for 26 (.231 avg) 2 Triples, 5 RBIs, 4 Runs, 3 Walks, 2 Ks Trot Nixon- 13 for 55 (.236 avg) 2 Doubles, Triple, HR, 7 RBIs, 7 Runs, 8 Walks, 10 Ks Bill Mueller- 17 for 66 (.258 avg) 2 Doubles, HR, RBI, 6 Runs, 8 Walks, 12 Ks Carrying the Team Johnny Damon- 16 for 57 (.281 avg) 3 Doubles, 6 RBIs, 7 Runs, 5 Walks, 6 Ks John Olerud- 11 for 38 (.289 avg) Double, 4 HRs, 11 RBIs, 7 Runs, 6 Walks, 6 Ks Kevin Millar- 13 for 44 (.295 avg) 6 Doubles, 2 HRs, 5 RBIs, 7 Runs, 2 Walks, 11 Ks Manny Ramirez- 21 for 70 (.300 avg) 2 Doubles, 5 HRs, 13 RBIs, 11 Runs, 5 Walks, 13 Ks Tony Graffanino- 17 for 52 (.327 avg) 4 Doubles, Triple, 2 HRs, 6 RBIs, 9 Runs, 8 Ks David Ortiz- 24 for 67 (.358 avg) 2 Doubles, 10 HRs, 22 RBIs, 15 Runs, 14 Walks, 10 Ks
  21. Timlin did have a good season and this thread was made because I thought people like to know about him being selected in the final 10 of all relievers in the majors, a big deal. not whether or not Ortiz should win the MVP (which he should). Timlin who's turning 40 this season and in last year of his contract, I dont see Sox resigning him so far. I did remember him saying in an interview that someday he'd like to be a pitching coach, no arguments from me on that. I see Delcarmen as a viable option to be the new setup man, if said Timlin doesnt come back
  22. yes he would be a great fit as a Red Sox---prospects such as anibel sanchez, abe alvarez, and kelly shoppach i can see as the odd men out Jon Lester is of course untouchable and should start making several appearances next season, him and Papelbon could someday be like what Pedro and Schil were in 2004
  23. like its that easy to unload the kind of contract Edgar has right now
  24. edgar still worked a 10 pitch at bat to get on base for papi's 2nd homerun that clearly put the game out of reach for the d-rays. hope this is just a one season fluke edgar is having, benefit of the doubt but if he plays like this in the 1st half of 2006, i'll call Sox front office personally. other than that, great win last night and the offense finally breaking out of their 3 runs a game crap really had greatly overshadowed Schill's 2nd good start of 2005 going 7 strong innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, 1 walk and 7 Ks. He threw 117 pitches and his last pitches were still hitting 94 on the gun. Have to feel good also about Manny Delcarmen striking out the side in his inning of relief (def in bullpen of 06), and even Lenny DiNardo did a commendable job to close out the game with 2 Ks. Stretch run with 11 games left, .5 game lead, lets take one game at a time. I so far smell a pitcher's duel: the thorn in our ass Kazmir vs Wakefield who just dominates the D-Rays especially at Tropicana Field going 6-0 there with just a 1.73 ERA
