  1. This should put Coco Crisp talks aside unfortuantely, now that the Guardians have added a starting pitcher.
  2. its december guys, not april
  3. yeah it did, and aw to commemorate that they sucked up to damon's wife and gave her 18 roses.
  4. wow no Jim Rome is Burning and Around the Horn till January 3rd? In the words of Wayne's World---"Denied!"
  5. I think theres a good chance that the D-Backs could have asked Boston for Lester or Papelbon, rather than going for Wells/Clement. Which Im sure if happened, the Sox said "yeaaa im going to have to say no"
  6. There have been no indications yet of what actual players that Boston were talking about. Most likely it was David Wells or Matt Clement coupled with someone else. If this trade were to go through, Toronto would have to do another trade with a surplus of corner infielders Troy Glaus, Lyle Overbay, Corey Koskie, Shea Hillenbrand, and Eric Hinske
  7. Wade Miller's surgery will keep him out until May or June. I think that got the Sox FO to say "whoah we arent doing that again." Then there's the question, will he be dominant? Or the Wade Miller we knew who lasted 5 or 6 innings because he had averaged 20-35 pitches in the 1st inning. Overall, big no to him.
  8. again i pull this out from the boston globe
  9. Once there was a day that money didnt matter much to players, some were payed even less than the average joe. Jackie Robinson even had retired when learned he had been traded to the rival team he had been playing against for a good matter of years, now thats what I call cold-hard loyalty. Sure we have the Variteks and Bruschis that are loyal to their teams and will give the hometown discount, but most players will put on a routine for the show. Hence Damon's interview he had with MLB.com back in May
  10. Pavano and Wright are known to be injury prone very much so. Small and Chacon could have had career yaers. Have you heard about them before this season?.... That would be a no Randy Johnson will be 43 and had an ailing back problem during 2005. Mike Mussina had an inflamed shoulder and was almsot placed on the DL for the rest of the season, He also had a down year compared to others Wang was out for 2 months with an inflamed shoulder after pitching in the bigs for just a month. It could be an early warning sign.
  11. Tick, Tock... your time is up
  12. The Rangers actually tried to make that deal with Boras for 3 years/$30 million?? haha Any team knows that Boras doesnt do 3 year contracts all that much. The most Sox should offer would be 4 years/$36-44 million. In 5 games pitched at Fenway Park against one of the best offenseive teams in recent years, 3-1 record with a 3.51 ERA
  13. He mentioned Millar's name, I laughed at that. There would be riots at Fenway if Sox were to resign that declining 1st baseman. But still, current Sox who have left: --Bill Mueller was going to leave anyway, whether it be Youk or now Lowell taking over --Kevin Millar, i said enough --Edgar Renterria, questionable at first but really the Sox are looking to improve their defense. Hence good bye to Rent and his 30 errors. And we got in return one of the best ranked prospects: a la Marte --Mike Myers & Chad Bradford, Sox brass want pitchers who can get both lefties and righties out. More easy for Tito to manage that way --Wade Miller, another surgery, another wait until hes ready to start. He wasnt worth on waiting again. --Doug Mirabelli, fan favorite and Wake's personal catcher yes. But we got in return a former all star 2nd baseman. Any team would do that trade Future possibility --Manny trade is not all that likely. Just specualtion that there is still talks. --David Wells will be 42 and had recurring knee and ankle problems throughout the season. Plus this will assure Papelbon having a shot at being in the rotation. --Clement could be traded for a CF, after his lackluster second half combined with the worst start ever by a red sox pitcher in the ALDS round.... that says it right there --Arroyo Id like to keep around to work out of the pen as long innings and spot starter. But he is enticing for a Jeremy Reed or Coco Crisp. 2005 also saw a series of inconsistent outings.
  14. Seeing him don the yankees cap and his new #18 jersey utterly made me sick to my stomach.
  15. seeing this press conference has cemented it for me. Good bye Damon you are nothing but a distant memory and a player I intend on booing every chance I get. Nice hug with Torre and Cashman, by the way you got some brown on your nose
  16. it seems by now, these prospects of ours wont/shouldnt even cross the thoughts of the Sox Front Office Jonathan Papelbon, Jon Lester, Craig Hansen, Manny DelCarmen, Edgar Martinez, Jacoby Ellisbury. As well as Brandon Moss or David Murphy, look for one of them to be considered to take over right field in 2007.
  17. ken rosenthal of foxsports has just reported the Blue Jays are closer to a deal, but need to jump certain hurdles. Like... Toronto is on Glaus' no trade list They kind of already have a surplus of corner infielders as it is... Eric Hinske, Shea Hillenbrand, Corey Koskie, and Lyle Overbay.
  18. I didnt see this one coming, him and the Cards... Remaining options Trades Jeremy Reed Coco Crisp Dave Roberts Rotoworld went as far as suggesting a Wells for JD Drew trade, even though Id like that possibility... i have a doubt about that The remaining free agent the Sox have had reported interest in is Prestwon Wilson.
  19. What like we arent allowed to vent our aggression? Yes I do believe this is a red sox forum site, so laughable to say the least you are surprised about how we feel. Damon was a much loved Sox player who chose to switch sides like recent defectors in Clemens and Boggs. Plain and simple, this has nothing to do with his contract, I could care less. Its all about him going to the Yankees. So it shouldnt come as a shock at all that most of Red Sox Nation is feeling betrayed at this moment.
  20. true but all ive heard from yankee fans and media is that the "Red sox orgainaztion and all of its fans" bash every player that leaves. Screw everyone who says that, because thats nowhere near the truth. You can count on a future standing O's for Nomar, Mueller, Pedro, even Doug Mienkevicz, etc. But dont expect one for our former cult hero who said earlier to red sox nation "Theres no way I will go play for the Yankees. The Red Sox is my team, and I wont go and leave just because George was offering top dollar." He lied to all of us and became a member of boston's arch rival team, for that expect a chorus of boos at Fenway Park. dont say that you yankee fans dont do the same when a well liked player of yours becomes a Red Sox 2004: David Wells enters the mound in a Padres uniform to a raucous standing ovation Opening Day 2005: David Wells enters the mound with deafening boos and some self-made signs that ESPN had said were too bad to show on national TV
  21. sidetrack for a sec, Foxsports must trying to put even more of a bad light on the Red Sox. The link to this article reads, Another member of 2004 Red Sox champs bolts team ?? Correct me if Im wrong, but Bell didnt bolt from the team. By July/August the organization and just about every fan had it with him (offensively & defensively) so he was cut. He was obviosuly the odd man out once the rag tag duo of Tony G and Cora came onboard.
  22. the Sox should just give up Damon's #18 to first come, first serve
  23. From what Ive heard about the pitching prospects, lets just rule out trading Lester or Hansen. We can also consider Youkilis expendable, he deserves to be a starter elsewhere. This deal of Glaus to Boston as the starting 1st baseman, would keep Youk locked down as a utility man or even back and forth in Pawtucket.
  24. They are notorious for asking for way to much keep in mind the sox tried to swing marte around to tampa bay: The D-Rays asked for Marte, Shoppach and Arroyo just so we could get Lugo. Imagine what they would ask for, giving up both Lugo and Gathright.
