  1. well the concensus was the trade would be the main reason so they could swing prospects around to tampa bay for Lugo. Personally Id have Sox do this trade including LaRoche, then swing him instead to Cleveland since they are seeking a prized 3rd baseman prospect. In the end we could end up with Coco Crisp and retain Marte.
  2. It wasnt that he got tired, Tito and the pitching coaches had him on a limited pitch count for each game, keeping him on an innings watch for the season.
  3. Its the holidays and we're all sox fans here. Should really put meaningless tiffs aside here. By the way Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and Kwanza to everybody out there
  4. you just got to realize that the d-rays will be asking for way more than those 2 are worth. We are talking top prospects here.
  5. I heard on weei, the blue jays tentative plan is for Aaron Hill to be the starting 2nd baseman.
  6. well im sucking so far at my picks at 3-6 Some surprising games like (1) Buffalo over Cincinatti? (2) Dallas over Carolina (3) San Francisco over St Louis
  7. Its actually 5 now... Overbay, Koskie, Glaus, Hinske, and Hillenbrand. Another trade course seems set to follow. The current plan is reportedly to have Glaus be more of a full time DH, Koskie and Overbay retaining their regular starting positions.
  8. My girlfriend says he now has chipmunk cheeks
  9. eh, I wouldnt mind Youkilis being the everyday starter. Compiled with Snow coming as the late innings guy, kind of like what we saw with Mienky back in 04. Or it could be a Youk/Snow platoon. Either way Ill be a happy guy. I just saw his stats, and another sox/yanks players swap would happen. Snow was drafted in 1989 by the Yankees
  10. Millwood is strictly known as a groundball pitcher, but can get you around 150Ks An infield behind him of 2 time gold gloverLowell, Cora/Izturis, Loretta, and Youk with 6 time gold glover JT Snow in the running to be signed as a 1st baseman backstop--I have good thoughts about that and yes i do agree ksushi, you had a well thought out post
  11. David Wells will be gone, not could be gone. The Padres or the Dodgers are the likely suitors. I think you had missed your thoughts on Papelbon (could be in starting rotation for 06), who impressed heavily from his debut start in july to his 4 scoreless innings of relief in the ALDS.
  12. im with you there, the ultimate ass: Kevin Kennedy on the radio "sees the Sox finishing 3rd or even 4th behind the Orioles" Give me a break Kennedy. Loved his quote also "If the season were to start tomorrow, theyd be in serious trouble." Well guess what is the season starting tomorrow? no its not. He should know a team's roster changes aplenty from Christmas to the end of spring training
  13. my take on Lugo, is that the Sox need to upgrade on their defense (4th worst in majors in 05) and Lugo wouldnt not give much help, 20+ errors a season he will average. I still say the same, easier to shift Loretta to shortstop (21 errors in 300+ games played there) and retain Tony as our starting 2nd baseman. Loretta is also a viable option as our leadoff man, .300 career batting avg when leading off. Still do the Wells trade to the Dodgers, then swing those top prospects over to Cleveland for Coco Crisp. In the end we would get Coco Crisp, improve the infield defense at a fraction of a cost compared trying to do a trade with Devil Rays, and very importantly holding onto Marte. Just a thought...
  14. thank god the sox are shying away from woody williams, and what a surprise that tampa bay is still acting like their s*** dont stink and require a handful of great prospects for an average shortstop who has just 1 season left on his contract at $5 million.
  15. Boston Herald has just reported that Kevin Millwood was in Boston yesterday to meet with the Sox. Its hard for me to put my trust in the front office right now, but im gunning for this deal to happen. The Rangers might try and offer more money, but he still might take boston over texas. Considering he'd be on more of a playoff potential team than Texas.
  16. The Royals have also signed former Twins' starting pitcher Joe Mays. Their forming roster definitely is a step up from the 56-106 season they just had.
  17. sorry shouldve quoted him in my post--im not that dumb of a sox fan to comapre them with damon
  18. um what the f---? how was i, how did you get i was comparing embree and bellhorn to frigging damon?! I was commenting on 26 to 6's comments on "how we threw under the bus" those 2 players god
  19. that we dont know of yet...
  20. as in blockbusters for the other AL east teams: that would be really just the yankees and blue jays Id still take our offseason over the orioles and devil rays
  21. and theres still 3 1/2 months left, lets take it easy. Im not giving up hope yet on a season that is nowhere close to starting. Heck the pitchers and catchers dont report to spring training for another 2 months
  22. And how did you fare with Bellhorn and Embree?.... enough said In 2005 they quickly wore out their welcome, i can give you the stats if youd like. If you think they were worth not cutting, biggest laugh ive had yet You yankee fans have never "thrown one of your players under the bus?" Oh cmon
  23. Arizona got raped on this one, they gave up a 40HR/100RBI 3rd baseman for as what others said: an aging starting pitcher turned relief pitcher who hasnt shown much spark, and an average 2nd baseman, they also give up a prospect to toronto
  24. damn it all, cmon sox lets get millwood--get a blockbuster deal at least for this club
