  1. This was the only plausible trade that I was rooting for to happen. I got this big feeling that Manny will be in a Red Sox uni. opening day.
  2. Huckaby doesnt hit for much power, but is a defensive catcher as they come. He's not afraid to sacrifice his body at the plate. Yankee fans know about that Im sure. Him doing that one time had Jeter dislocate his shoulder
  3. Renterria told the Boston Globe he had requested a trade because he blamed the infield of Fenway Park for his 30 errors , even though I believe more of his errors came on the road then at home but okk. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/12/12/renteria_says_he_wanted_out/?page=1
  4. eh, the White Sox still have the best rotation as of now. Besides we'll know who has the best rotation when the season asctually starts, whats on paper doesnt always turn into fact..
  5. Agreed the Sox Front Office talking about Marte, really sounded excited to get him on the 2006 roster, even slot him in the outfield if they have to.
  6. im not sure what to think. He has surprised us before with his decisions
  7. yeaaa but hes acting like the offseason is officially over and the roster we have is the rosterwe will have on opening day. Theres still 4 months left for Boston to better themselves. As it stands right now their offense hasnt much improved. They also signed a 5 year/$47 million contract to a guy who's been a closer for just 1 season. And 5 years/$55 million to a pitcher who's below .500 and has never won more than 12 games in a season.
  8. Looks like the Red Sox wont sit idle with Roger on the market. Theres even talks they could bring on board Brad Ausmus to be the new backup catcher, to try and entice him some more. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/12/11/red_sox_discussing_clemens/
  9. I heard the Yankees are looking into acquiring Julian Tavarez. Has anyone heard of that too? Addition of him would surely help solidify their bullpen
  10. Lugo is offensively about even with Rent, not much at of an upgrade. The main thing that has me and probably the Sox FO straying from Lugo, he averages 20+ errors a season, at least Tejada could back that up with monster offense. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6451/career
  11. Likewise. This trade is of course not even close to a 100% definite. Its worth dreaming about. Sox trade of Manny for Tejada get in return: A big bat behind Ortiz, rid headaches of Manny being Manny, and acquire one of the best shortstops of today's baseball.
  12. I think I know why Sox backed up on acquiring Lugo in any trade. How about he sucks defensively? This past season he had committed 24 errors, 3rd to Edgar. Lugo past 3 seasons- 70 errors Cora/Graff combined- 54 errors I highly doubt Sox will pursue him that much. Besides, odds are that they will do what they had mentioned before, look into free agency market. -------------------------
  13. According to the Boston Globe, the Sox have put forward an offer to Baltimore of a Ramirez for Tejada swap. The O's didnt give comment, and it is known of course that Boston isnt the only interested team. -----------------------------------
  14. i know he's proud to be on a more winning team than the Brewers. Lyle you obviously are showing you havent yet played in the AL East before. Way to be cocky to completely count out two of the best teams in all of baseball, the Sox and the Yanks.
  15. If Erstad has the Sox on his no trade list, that should be a given that he wouldnt want to sign with Boston when he becomes a free agent
  16. Dave Roberts wouldnt have been able to have the greatest stolen base if not for Millar battling Mo that got him a walk. 2005 just wasnt the year for him, its said there are several teams interested him but in platooning type roles.
  17. They also signed Todd Jones, who is set to be the closer for Detroit. eh, Kenny "Youre getting me angry" Rogers doesnt scare me that much. He hasnt had the Sox's number in awhile. Sure he will help some but the Tigers have to battle out better groomed teams in the White Sox, Guardians and Twins
  18. Loretta gives his perspective on coming to Boston. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20051209&content_id=1279982&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos
  19. http://games.espn.go.com/cgi/flb/playernewsarchive?statsId=6762
  20. the Detroit Tigers' Sean Douglass has been released by the team so he can go to a Japan team.
  21. According to the Baltimore Sun, Melvin Mora is speaking out that he whole-heartedly agrees with Tejada's frustration. A shot at his current pitching staff, "Who's going to pitch for us?"
  22. Billy was one of the few batters that came our way who had good numbers against Mo. 5 for 11 (.455 avg)
  23. yes it would be great to have manny, ortiz and tejada together... but everything comes with a cost. Especially Sox having to then contend with taking on Tejada's $48 million with Manny's already $57 remaining. (1) we'd have to bargain a bulk of the best of our farm away for tejada. (2) The Orioles would most likely have Boston take on Tejada's contract which would put them near the cap maximum. Less cap space, could really seal the deal of Damon walking.
  24. Tejada in 43 games played at Fenway Park holds a .324 batting avg 1. Johnny Damon cf 2. Mark Loretta 2b 3. David Ortiz dh 4. Miguel Tejada ss 5. Mike Lowell 3b 6. Jason Varitek c 7. Trot Nixon rf 8. Andy Marte lf (Edes suggesting he could take left field if Manny left) 9. Kevin Youkilis 1b
