  1. Might this be ones of those games we look back at and say... "If LSU only made their free throws..." Maybe its just me, but it certainly seems like they're missing all sorts of free throws.
  2. When was the last time you saw a call for flopping? It's supposed to be a technical foul and it's never ever called -- no reason to start now. If you flop and it goes uncalled, you're already at a disadvantage as it leaves you out of position. And I'd agree, One Red Seat -- LSU has some athletes, but they've played a very sloppy style of basketball. Still young though as two of their best players are underclassmen.
  3. Agreed. For all the talent that he has, he hasn't yet learned to take over games. I don't watch Rudy Gay and get the feeling that I'm watching one of the top four players in the Nation.
  4. What a shocker! Never saw this one coming! I expect all of you Yankees fans that ripped Bonds apart after these very same sources told of his usage to do the same to Sheffield.
  5. Here you go... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2380226 The same book is saying that Sheffield took HGH as well. I expect all of you Yankees fans that ripped Bonds apart based on the information in this book to do the same for Gary Sheffield.
  6. They key to stopping Duke is more about stopping Williams than it is Redick, in my opinion. LSU has the potential to do that. Not saying they will, but they definetely have the potential too. As for who the best in the country -- when they play their best, UConn is. That seems to be the general concensus among those who cover the game. They're arguable the most talented and they're, with out a doubt, the deepest. The issue is focus, really. They're tall, athletic, talented -- but they don't always show up, ya know?
  7. Why do you say that? Revenues are up under him and he's never had a work stoppage. He blows any other current commissioner out of the water. David Stern is probably second best, and his league is battling the NHL to see which is less popular. It'll be difficult to find a guy that can follow in the shadows of Rozelle and Tagliabue.
  8. Want to know the difference? "playing baseball is not about the money, it is about the fans and playing for the love of the game, and more importantly, its about tonight, red sox-yankees, i live in boston, and i never want to leave, i want to play here the rest of my life, nothin could change that decision" - Johnny Damon
  9. And that's when you know he's done a good job, in my opinion, when the attention is on the league and very rarely on the comissioner (unless there's no attention on the league OR commissioner *cough*nhl*cough*). It's when a commissioner is doing a bad job that they seem to get a lot of press. Whoever fills his role has very large shoes to fill as he's following Tagliabue and Rozelle.
  10. Easily the best commissioner in American sports today. Continued nicely where put Rozelle left off. Most people don't know that he held Georgetown's career rebounding record for basketball until, I believe, Patrick Ewing broke it.
  11. Probably means Luke Walton.
  12. Yeah, that's for sure. Those Hilton Armstrong rebounds is what won this basketball game. Not sure Kentucky would've been in the game if not for the 3 pointers, though. Can't believe that, other than UConn, only La Salle went after him. As for the out-of-bounds play that ended up being UConn's ball; it's tough to tell, because you can't really tell if the UConn player is touching the ball or if he just has his hand around, but looking at that replay, I'd give the ball to Kentucky on that one. Huge turning point in the game. From a chance to tie or take the lead to a chance to cut the lead to 4 or 3. edit: Were those rebounds by Hilton Armstrong before or after Randolph Morris fouled out? I think once he fouled out, the tallest player on the floor for Kentucky was 6'7"
  13. Is Kentucky capable of missing a god damn three pointer in the second half of this game? Two point game with a minute left... now we get to see what Connecticut is made of again. edit: 2 point game with 18.7 left. Just make your free throws and it's yours, UConn. edit: Game over, UConn survives.
  14. I would love to see it with the criteria expanded. I think it'd be very interesting to see those numbers because I agree that it's currently a little bit too limited. I found it kind of interesting, so I figured I'd share. What it basically does is reenforce my opinion that, if the game is on the line, I want the ball in either Carmelo Anthony or Paul Pierces hands. Kobe, on the other hand, shot below the league average, despite his reputation for being pretty clutch. What's most interesting about 'Melos numbers here are that, having seen almost all of them, his shots are usually long jumpers with a man right in his face, some of them three pointers like the one against the T-Wolves in my avatar. Pretty interesting for a guy who's game is usually getting to the hoop.
  15. Speaking of this, I found a website through Bill Simmons' latest column that basically takes into account how clutch a player is. 'Melo is at the top! http://www.82games.com/random12.htm
  16. I think the talent surrounding Matt Leinart makes him a question mark. Let's see... he had the Nations best backfield, the nations best offensive line, and the nations best WR's. I could be successful in that system.
  17. Now Kentucky gets to play a motivated UConn team that, once they got in a rythym, outscored their opponent by 25 points over a 10 minute span. Good luck. I'm proud of my boys. They never panicked as they looked being on the wrong side of the biggest upset ever straight in the face. I bet they don't come out that flat again tomorrow.
  18. Well, if you go under cbssportsline.com you can get March Madness on Demand and watch whatever game you want, so I'm watching UConn via computer. The only problem is, I can see the score change on the television a good 30 seconds before I can watch that particular basket on my computer. 68-57 UConn, now. Albany played a hell of a game -- certainly had me scared. Hopefully UConn focus' from here on out.
  19. UConn has gone a 7 point run and have cut the lead to 5. I wish I could watch this game on CBS, rather than the March Madness on Demand, where there's a delay.
  20. Well, UConn's looking to make it's tournament stay the shortest in history for a #1 seed and CBS would rather show Cal/NC State where I am. 43-33 Albany. Regardless of how it ends, UConn ain't winning the National Championship. ... embarassing.
  21. Show me these scouting reports you speak of.
  22. Now, you have to be in good shape to play 37.2 minutes per game. You have to be in good shape to be able to run off screens all game long to get yourself open. We're talking about the NBA -- all the guys he'll be playing against are in phenomal shape. You'd have to be in Rip Hamilton type shape for it to make a difference. Read any scouting report on JJ Redick regarding whether or not he'll succeed at the NBA level that you please and you'll read that one of his weaknesses is that he's not athletic enough to be a great 2 guard in the NBA. Certainly not athletic enough to make up for his size. We, the other members of this forum, aren't just making this up based on the couple times we see him every year.
  23. AI has all sorts of athletic ability, though. Redick is average in that category.
  24. Gonzaga is currently losing 53-44 to Xavier. Anybody still convinced that this team is any good?
