  1. Nuggets defeat the Pacers on the strength of another Carmelo Anthony game winner. Man oh man is this guy clutch.
  2. I think it will be Gay. I also believe Redick will be a late lottery pick. Doesn't have the size or athleticism to play the 2, doesn't having the passing or ballhandling skills to play the point.
  3. Wasn't that game played in New Jersey, though? And if I remember correctly, it was a largely pro-Duke crowd. Regardless -- Duke still killed them. 97-66 was the final, I believe.
  4. And they already had a capable back up in Chester Taylor too. Not sure what the Ravens were going for with that one.
  5. ... how is it like saying that? I'm not saying they're the most talented basketball players in the world. I'm saying it's the most exciting basketball to watch all year. When you take a look at the skill level, the heart that the kids show compared to the seemingly care-free NBA players, and the fact that most of the games come down to the wire, it's easily the best basketball of the year. Are you trying to suggest that a meaningless Knicks game is more exciting?
  6. Jamal Lewis resigned in Baltimore with a 3 year contract that essentially serves as a 1 year contract with options. There goes that fantasy for the Broncos. Oh well, that probably makes it more likely to go after T.O. and Abraham.
  7. No... it really isn't. March Madness is the best time of the year. ESPN isn't 'shoving it down our throat' when it's something the general public wants to consume. Even people who don't care about basketball usually get involved, fill out a bracket and watch the best basketball of the year. Every time you turn on the TV there's a chance you'll see a team expected to go far in the tournament getting bounced by a team who was just 'happy to be there' going into the game.
  8. I mentioned my new beer pong table in another thread. Here it is... my baby. Lots and lots of hours have been put into this table. This table was done about 98% by one man... me. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c288/seered81/nugpics018.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c288/seered81/nugpics001.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c288/seered81/nugpics017.jpg
  9. From John Clayton on ESPN.com
  10. I was hoping that Villanova would be in the Washington DC bracket and UConn would get the Minneapolis bracket. For both National Championship runs, UConn came from a region out West. Plus, Josh Boone and Rudy Gay are both from Maryland, so playing in close by Washington DC might have them distracted some.
  11. 14-0 in the 3rd... we might see the 5th inning mercy rule where you gotta be up by 15 (I think such a thing exists).
  12. We've already explained this to you... we talk about them because they're, by far, the two best conferences. The Big East and the ACC will produce 3 of the 4 #1 seeds and the 3 favorites to win the Championship. Plus, the VAST majority of people are from the EAST, where the Big East and ACC are and where the most popular teams play -- UConn, BC, Syracuse, and Duke. People are going to talk about their teams and conferences first and foremost. edit: If we only talk Big East... then what do you call mine and MC Hammer's Gonzaga bashing?
  13. I, unfortunately missed the game as I decided to try and stay up all night and paint my beer pong table (a replica of the Nuggets court; I'll share pictures when it's done) and didn't quite make it, falling asleep too late to allow for me wake up and watch the game. Last night as I was painting I got the feeling that 'Cuse was going to win the game. Not too upset with the effort my boys apparently put out, gives them some rest before the tournament, so there's a plus. Congratulations to Syracuse for winning the game and securing their spot in the tournament!
  14. Paul Pierce has been ridiculous. Remember the rumors that he was going to be traded to Denver? I do...
  15. I wish him the best of luck with whatever he chooses to do. He was fun to watch. Glad he decided to follow his heart.
  16. 7-0. Ridiculous.
  17. Losing 5-0 to a team that struggled to beat South Africa. Embarassing.
  18. I still think Syracuse is out, as it is right now. They need to beat UConn and judging by how well McNamara does against UConn, how Syracuse as a team has done against UConn, and UConn's track record in MSG for the Big East Tourney, that's a very, very tall task.
  19. Yeah. Imagine Duke or UConn in the WCC. The only problem with UConn is that they tend to get bored when they play lesser opponents.
  20. And I think that when a person dies, we should look at their faults as well as their triumphs. Especially when the faults are as bad as Puckett's were.
  21. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/news/2003/03/11/si_puckett/
  22. Kirby Puckett tried to kill his wife, man. Barry Bonds cheated at a game -- not exactly on the same level. Besides... glaucoma, stroke -- both can be caused by steroid usage.
  23. Yeah? Says who? Certainly not the person who created this thread. HeadofSoxNation created this thread to talk about, not only Kirby Puckett, but other plays off the field as well as on the field. If what he said was in the middle of a conversation about Kirby Puckett's career numbers or whatever, then that's one thing. But this is another. If you want to talk only about what he did as a player, then this isn't the right thread. I happen to value what somebody does or doesn't do off the field, particularly when celebrating his life.
  24. If we're going to remember the guys life, we have to take the negatives with the positives, so I think the backlash HeadofSoxNation has recieved has been a little unfair. The guy was far from being the saint that most have made him out to be in the wake of his death -- the guy had multiple mistresses, would committ lewd acts in public, and attempted to kill his wife. The timing could have been better from HeadofSoxNation, but pointing out the negatives doesn't deserve the reaction it got and doesn't disrespect him in anyway. He posted it now because something that was said inspired him to start a discussion. Here's a question I'm sure I'll get grilled for, and I'm not saying this is the case, but an issue I've seen brought up elsewhere -- what would you think of the guy on the field if it turned out his glaucoma came because of steroid usage?
  25. Gonzaga's beenable to climb back in it (tied, right now), but this game hasn't done much to change my opinion of Gonzaga. I'm sure it's the same case for MC Hammer. This team doesn't deserve to be #4. They're, at best, an elite 8 team, to me.
