  1. Welcome to the boards. Hope you enjoy your stay!
  2. ... And they want to trade for Steve Francis. How has Thomas kept his job this long?
  3. I'll agree with MGB in that Amare shreds Duncan head to head. Watch the next Spurs/Suns game that Amare plays in. In two regular season games against Tim Duncan last season, Amare averaged 36 points, 7 rebounds. In the playoffs, he averaged about 37 points, 10 rebounds; including 42 points and 16 rebounds in the game the Suns were eliminated. Sure, Duncan's got two rings, then again, I don't think Amare was in High School when Tim Duncan got drafted into the NBA. Team accomplishments should not be used in individual debates or else, to change sports for a brief second, Mark Rypien or Trent Dilfer are better than Dan Marino. Quick question -- who would you take on your team, considering they're about equally as good? The 29 year old? Or the 23 year old? That's why we're talking about Amare.
  4. Ahh, ok, I figured being somewhat close to Tampa (Orlando's only an hour away, right?), there might be stuff in the paper or whatever. I'd assume that Tropicana Field is exclusive to the Devil Rays, redguitar. The Storm play in the St. Pete Times Forum. edit: I should add, my experiences have taught me that St. Louis fans are incredibly knowledgable. I don't have a vote because I don't put up with all the fanbases on a daily basis, so I wouldn't really know. I do, however, think you're excluding some worthy fanbases from the list.
  5. I do believe they're the only people who play their now. I think One Red Seat or somebody in the area would know more about that than myself.
  6. Amen. Hopefully this first game was due to a majority (I believe) of the team showing up kind of late to Torino. Though, I'm not holding out too much hope for this team.
  7. It was built starting in 1986 to try and lure the White Sox, and eventually, the Mariners and Giants, to Tampa. It was finished in 1990, but wasn't occupied by a sports team until the Tampa Lightning started using it in '93 (known as the Thunderdome). The Lightning managed to set NHL Attendance records because of the size of the stadium, since it was built for baseball. I believe the Tampa Storm of the AFL also played there during this time. I'm not sure when, exactly, the Lightning moved out,
  8. Not really all that 'new', it was completed in 1990.
  9. I wouldn't say so. If the US sent their absolute best players, the world wouldn't have much of a chance, again. The last US team didn't bring any shooters, had the least amount of practice time a US olympic basketball team has ever had, and didn't bring their best players. Kobe, T-Mac, Shaq, etc.
  10. If I'm them, I'm feeling extremely confident with Vokoun in net. He goaltended their team to a win in the World Championships, didn't he? As for the US game... this team doesn't have a prayer at medalling.
  11. Did I ever mention that if the Nuggets picked second, Kiki wanted to take Darco? :D
  12. You had some time on your hands. Nice research. Without a doubt UConn shoots more free throws than their opponents like good teams and coaches do, but late in a big game, it seems to me that Duke gets all of the calls that can go either way and Coach K is the King at getting those calls. You may see it as whining, but I also admit when my team has benefitted from a bad call.
  13. Well, the Nuggets could always use a 7', Georgian (the country, not the state) ball boy.
  14. Yeah, but the record and upcoming/last games were incorrect. It'll be interesting to see how the top 4 ends up in the rankings. I'm thinking: 1. Duke 2. Villanova 3. UConn 4. Memphis
  15. I understand that, and I was saying it tongue in cheek as a response to what you said. I think it was Josh Boone that covered him the majority of the night because Okafor had gotten himself into very, very early foul trouble. Regardless, Boone was even a great defensive player at the time. I certainly wouldn't expect UConn to come close to shutting Williams down, this year. They don't have the body types down low (big and strong) to shut Williams down.
  16. Now you just need to give the Nuggets Amare and the world will be right. Deal?
  17. Perhaps you forgot to read the difference in free throws in that game. 41-11. I don't care how good a coach is at 'teaching his team to draw fouls', there should never be that big of a discrepancy -- ever.
  18. What'd he do the last time he played UConn and Emeka Okafor sat almost the entire first half?
  19. Apparently the commentators don't either because they commented that the call in the BC game was an awful call.
  20. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks Duke gets calls because of Coach K... http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/9216412
  21. No, and nor do I believe it had any effect on any recruiting classes. However, it's still not allowed and nothing was done about it. And no, those were clear fouls in the BC and FSU game. Former Duke player Andre Sweet once said:
  22. ... nevermind that the fact that I've been defending the Super Bowl refs this entire time. I don't believe the Yankees get any more calls based on who they are. But Duke... it's ridiculous. What was the punishment for Coach K's national televised recruiting pitch... err, Mastercard commercial? Oh... none? And it's still on the air... oh, ok.
  23. Hell, I'm excited and I don't like the Suns. Just love watching Amare do his thing. Did I mention that Kiki was one of the guys that passed on him? I believe he went with Skita, instead. Great pick.
  24. You're in a class with Stevie Wonder if you don't see the calls Duke gets just for being Duke. Oh well, UConn's the most talented, UConn's the deepest, and there's no way UConn is beat on a neutral court.
  25. Oh please, against BC and FSU Williams got all body, no ball and it goes as a 'block.' Check the numbers -- Duke has been to the line FAR more times than their opponents. I would say it's safe to assume it's the largest margin in the Nation.
