  1. If he is indeed calling it a career, my hat's off to him. What a great career it's been.
  2. hahahah But yeah, this isn't done is it? For some strange reason the Dodgers have been in talks with the Pirates for weeks now for him to replace Furcal.
  3. lol thanks, I got it. Can't believe I let that one get over my head. Simple enough, thanks man.
  4. Call me dumb, as hopefully I'm just drawing a blank but what does AAV stand for?
  5. That's a good question. And of course the girl being 16 wouldn't stop Gom, that would be ridiculous.
  6. What's the need to bold that, and why do you insist it's a publicity stunt? I measn, sure to an extent it is but hey it's an upstart Independant Baseball League, it's not like it's NPB and their Minor League system doing this. Any indy baseball league in the world needs to pull a few publicity stunts to gain some notoriety, look at the GBL and how they had Jose Canseco sign on as a knuckleballer/DH with the San Diego Surf-Dawgs, a team that Rickey Henderson also played for. So yeah sure to some extent it very well may be a publicity stunt, but maybe the girl's got some skills. Let her throw a pitch before we s*** on her. I think she could be very entertaining.
  7. Apparently according to Joel Sherman (NY Post) they offerred him $10 Mil for 1 year and have yet to hear back from him.
  8. It makes no sense at all and it kind of irks me. Only thing that would make sense to em is that they intend on bringing both Andy and Abreu back , otherwise I think they made a huge mistake. We could have really used those picks.
  9. What does the division one plays in have to do with their chance of injury? Performance is one thing, but health is something unpredictable.
  10. Oh yeah true that. Thats good then. I would have liked to see J.B. protected though.
  11. CC could use a gym membership and a ban on fast food though. Admit it, if we're gonna give him all this money we gotta protect the investment.
  12. Exactly why I think the WBC should be played in November following the World Series. IF injuries or fatigue occur in the WBC the players have a whole offseason to get back to strength, and also like I've said in the past I think it would have a more meaningful, championship feel. Right before Spring Training makes it seem like an exhibition tourney, not an International competition.
  13. Not bad ideas.
  14. Maybe he'll play for Puerto Rico again in the WBC.
  15. Darrell Rasner will be pitching in Japan next year as he has had his contract sold by the Yankees to Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles for $1million. And apparently based on Jerry Crasnick's article on ESPN.com Rasner reached out to the Yankees and said he wanted to go pitch in Japan. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3705150&campaign=rss&source=MLBHeadlines So now he got his wish to go pitch in beautiful Kleenex Stadium http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2014/2485220970_af21774e72.jpg?v=0 Peace Rasner!
  16. I think it's inevitable that one of them ends up at first base sometime in the near future, next few seasons. Especially Jeter, he's gonna get to the point where we have to have him there because of his declining range and fielding ability at shortstop. Better off having the spot cleared up for when that time does come that way we're not stuck with terrible defense at short that we can't move and an overloaded, long-term burdonsome contract at first. This would be best not only now, but for the long-term as well. Swisher can adaquetely fill the hole at first base for the time being, we're not giving $22-24 Mil to our first baseman for the next 7 years, and we can spend that money on pitching and whatever other needs we have. I just don't think Mark Texiera is worth what him and Boras are commanding, and we can find another way to shore up first base in the future if/when Swisher just doesn't cut it anymore. We've got guys in the farm, we'll have more money on draft picks, we can take a look at the free agent market in the upcoing years and probably get a better value on a first baseman. This is just my opinion though, I know Tex is a real good player, but taking into account he's coming off a career year and has the most powerful agent in sports negotiating for him I would rather just pass on him.
  17. Absolutely. I was dumb in that you told me Wednesday and I just took your word for it and put the tickets in the trunk not to be seen again until Wednesday morning. I wish I went though, from what everybody told me, including you, Fanfest was awesome.
  18. Good to hear Don't forget you were gonna credit us on postseason tickets for the Fanfest mixup
  19. Haha I know it's not a huge move, but this is how I get when hot-stove season starts to heat up. It's the only enjoyment I get all winter long, and as we all know these New York/Northeast winters can get awfully cold so this just brought out a hint of excitement. Still plenty to come though. I just really like what Swisher brings to the table, on the field and off.
  20. Definitely . But I still suspect there's gonna be another power, high obp. bat in that lineup. Also I'm not entirely convinced that we don't trade one of our left fielders to free up bulk, salary, and the DH spot (Manny, Giambi, Aberu, etc.?). Matsui is getting older and breaking down, as is Damon to a lesser, more valueable extent. And in that case if Damon does in fact get moved and we a need a leadoff hitter, Swisher could even fill that spot. This lineup is far from completed, and there's still quite a long time until pitchers and catchers report. We shall see what happens.
