  1. You're still an idiot man. Reading your post at first was swaying me to change my opinion of you, but with the rest of your post that quickly changed. First off, the atmosphere of Yankee Stadium 15 years ago wasmuch different than it has been in recent years, unfortunately. 1:05 starts are nice, but not compared to a 7:05, IMO. Maybe the reason your frightened walking down those streets is because you're a bitchy little New England boy. That might explain it. I have never experienced or felt anything close to the feelings you described. And the reason they're still in the Bronx isn't because they "stole" theland, it was the public outcry when they tried moving to Manhattan or out of the city. That was the fans stupid, not the organization. We have an appreciation for our historic home. Also, it may be f***ed up to say this, but I'm glad you had to endure so much misery in that Stadium. I hope your two nights of glory and triumph were worth it.
  2. Yeah Stan's is garbage. Mainly because it's always too crowded. I've never seen something like that from a city cop (the cops where I live are a different story, corrupt sons of bitches..I usually have the utmost respect for city cops because they have a job to do and aren't going around busting people balls because they're bored) but it doesn't surprise me. I dont think it has anything to do with theory #1 because I was there Thursday and it was bumpin. Anyway I'm sorry to hear that.
  3. Good. Long overdue, IMO.
  4. I find thta hard to believe. That place ie never quiet. I dont know what the case was that night, weather, blow-out, whatever; but I feel bad that you missed out on a true Yankee Stadium experience.
  5. I know it makes me sick. Especially the role Brandon Steiner and Steiner Sports plays in this, since they've drawn up a working agreement with the Yankees in the past few years it's gotten ridiculous. They switched all 3 bases every half-inning on Sunday (and the ASG). That way they have 18 bases they can sell for at least $2,500 a pop. That's an easy $45,000 right there. Not to mention all the other s*** they make money from in that building. Go to Steiner Sports and look at the outrageous prices they charge for some of this stuff. It's sickening. That's just the way it is with some of these people. They're so consumed by their hatrid for the Yankees they'll stoop to this disgusting level. This is the cathedral of baseball we're talking about and these are the responses they have. I know that when Fenway closes it's doors I'll have nothing but the utmost respect and appreciation for what that place has meant to the game. Granted, I only have one Fenway experience, when I got to see the Yankees beatthe Red Sox one night back in 2001 when Bryce Florie took a line drive in the face off of Ryan Thompson's bat. Sure, me and my family were treated like s*** by almost everyone who saw us, but it was still a great time. And I appreciate the history of that park. I would never thinkn to act the way some of these *******s are acting with the closing of Yankee Stadium. Classless.
  6. You're stupid, dude. First off, the Bronx would be in much worse shape if it's biggest attraction were no longer there. Second, if you don't mind my asking, where are you from? I may not have grown up in the Bronx, but my entire family is originally from the Bronx and I've spent an awful lot of time there. I'm not saying it's the nicest place in the world, but you're being ridiculous. The area surrounding the Stadium is not a dangerous, ang infested place, you're just too stupid and ignorant to know any better you're too sheltered in you're white upper-middle class suburban neighborhood. A lot of people hang out there during game days. Now admittedly, it's not a big draw and there aren't too many people here when the tem is on the road or during the offseason, but that's not the point. And this line "Their are 3 places that benefit yankee home games,Stans, the Bronx bowlarama and that s*** hole up on 159th"" is just another shining example of your ignorance. That's 3 businesses within 1 block of each other, you moron. Venture a few blocks and see all of the businesses, some in pretty bad shape, that are benefitted by the Yankees. Just imagine how many South Bronx businesses would go under if the people who come for Yankee games every day were'nt there. Go up 161st street a little further and look at the diner's and restaurants that get most of their business from Yankee patrons. Look at all the gift shops within 4-5 blocks of the Stadium that wouldn't exist if it weren't for the Yankees. Get your head out of your ass and learn what you're talking about. The name of the bowling alley isn't even the "Bronx Bowlarama" and it certainly isn't $12 to park, that would be incredible. Try anywhere from $17-$45 depending on what lot you park in. Next time get your fact's right, google some s***.
  7. They came pretty damn close to leaving the Bronx for Jersey in the 90's. I know it doesn't, absolutely. However, that doesn't change their motivation for building the ballpark. One that was SUPPOSED to be privately financed. It's a shame things turned out the way they did, but just another example of greed.
  8. You guys don't seem to grasp what I'm trying to say. All I'm trying to say is that the reason the Yankees brass opted to build a new ballpark is because of the profits involved. I never claimed that the taxpayers would see any of those profits, not did I claim it was fair. So you, Crespo are the idiot. Idiot. The question was asked why a new stadium was being built, I gave you guys an honest answer. Greed and the desire for more money, and you guys are jumping on me for it. f*** off pricks.
  9. I'm not disagreeing with a word you said, but that still doesn't answer my question. The fact remains that the new stadium will bring in more revenue than the current one, whether it be privately or publicly financed. You're not making sense here. Why can't they just enjoy it? Does it offend you that they are celebrating a win at the final game of the ballpark's existence? They're not running around popping champagne and jumping all over each other. Last night's postgame display was for the fans.
  10. Exactly. So if it's gonna sell out anyway even with more seats, why would they reduce the ticket prices with the hypothetical addition of those added seats.
  11. That's by design though. The A's reduced their capacity because of their pathetic drawing ability, so that it would be easier to get a sellout. Let's face it, the capacity of that park is not 35,067. If 38,000 or 40,000 people wanted to go watch an A's game you think the A's would turn them away, or open up a section in the upper deck? Sometimes I think you're so concerned with being right you'll twist your arguements and make them so silly and ridiculous so that in your eyes your still right.
  12. What's your point? Some of the things I'm reading in this thread that some of you Sox fans are posting is making me sick. Why must you look for things to take issue with on what was for the most part a great night and a beautiful tribute. Always looking for something to bitch about when it comes to the Yankees. Grow up. If/When Fenway closes it's doors you guys would be throwing a fit if you saw reactions from us Yankee fans similar to what we're seeing from you. Absolutely sickening. Get over it, you don't care for the team or the ballpark, that's fine. Don't spoil it for everyone else.
  13. I didn't like that, but I can't really get worked up over it. And I certainly wasn't going to make mention of it on here because who knows how that would have turned out.
  14. I don't see what that has to do with the point I made? Yeah, the Yankees and the city completely lied to the public, which is despicable, but what does that have to do with the factthatthe new stadium is more profitable than the current one? Absolutely nothing. I agree with your point about the "ghosts," that was silly. But I understand what they were trying to do. The only other complaint I had I already mentioned, about how some deserving players got skipped over during the video tribute. Other than that they did a spectacular job last night. And you need to put the Jorge thing to rest, he really wasn't being honored as a special guest, as you keep claiming. The fact is that he couldn't play in the game, so what's wrong with the trying to do something nice to recognize his contributions? You're just being ridiculous.
  15. Whether or not the Stadium is 85 years old or not isn't the point. For myself, and millions of others Yankee Stadium is the setting of countless warm childhood memories. The best moments ofmy life were spent sitting in those seats. Call me a sucker if you want, but you're just clueless. I'm looking forward to the new Stadium, but how can I help being saddened by the departure of the current Stadium. I'm 19 years old and was never around to see the original, so your point about how old it in fact is is moot to me.
  16. The capacity of PNC is 38,496. The capacity of Fenway in 2008 is 37,400 at night and 36,984 during the day. The capacity of the Coliseum for baseball games is 35,067, although that's without the upper deck, so I think it's unfair to consider this the smallest ballpark (in terms of seating capacity, not size) in baseball as that was their choice and if they had the demand or desire to they could quickly and easily increase the capacity by thousands. Fenway wins. See above, take it how you want it. And although that would seem to make sense about the reduced ticket prices with increased capacity, that just isn't the case. Think about it. First, look at Yankee Stadium for one and the prices we have to pay. Just because it holds/held 57,000 and change doesnt mean thatthe prices go down, in factthey go up every year. And if Fenway were to significantly increase it's capacity, or move into a bigger ballpark prices definitely wouldn't go down for a couple of reasons. A) they would need to recoup what they spent on the renovation and addition/buliding of the new stadium, B ) they would still sell out due to such large demand, and would have no reason to lower prices, and C) they're a winning team and people pay to see winning baseball. Those are just some of the reasons we could list. When they built the Monster seats or the roof seats did prices go down? No, they went up I believe.
  17. I'm sure that has something to do with the fact that you're a Red Sox fan. Shea Stadium and Yankee Stadium are 2 very different places. Have you had the chance to see both? If so you would know that, no doubt. How is that?
  18. The structure might not be 85 years old, but the real estate and the concrete shell are. Say what you want, but some of the greatest moments in Baseball history occurred in that building, and any baseball fan who doesn't appreciate the long and storied history of baseball isn't a baseball fan at all. And saying it's just a building and has no meaning would be like saying thatthe house that you grew up in is just a house and has no meaning. That's silly. You're silly. And bitter.
  19. I didn't like that at all. I loved that they got the original 1922 AL Champions pennant and laid it out in the black seats, but the "ghosts" were a little unnecessary.
  20. I think that there were some people that should have been acknowledged on the diamond vision during the pre-game ceremonies, especially considering some of those who were honored and their lack of significance. Nothing against all of the players mentioned as they went position by position, but how does Soriano get a nod and Mickey Rivers gets ignored? I dont get it. And again, that's nothing against Sori.
  21. The pregame ceremonies were incredible, although there were some aspects I didn't like too much. All in all very touching night.
  22. Hey, at least I'm on my way to winning the consolation bracket! ....albeit for a 7th place finish. Wish this hot-streak would have came around a few weeks sooner.
  23. Yeah, I can't disagree with you too much. But hey, it's no biggie. Whatever.
