  1. As long as we win 1 Championship within the next 3 years, then that's fine by me. I'm not crazy about Sabathia anyway, as you all know.
  2. Epstein took over prior to 2003 not 2004, Boy. And if you want Lowe so bad, please take him.
  3. I know what you were getting at, I was just pointing out that there's no way we go into the season with that rotation. Yeah Aceves was real good last September, and I love seeing a player wear an unusual number like 91. I hope he sticks with it.
  4. Very interesting, not surprising. And you know what, if we win one or 2 in those three years and he wants to leave I say let him go we don't need that kind of commitment. We'll take 2 draft picks and be off the hook for 4 years.
  5. How dare you insert Kennedy over Aceves or Giese or Sanchez (I think the plan is to keep him in the pen though if I'm not mistaken)! But I think it turns out to be something more along the lines of this; Sabathia Wang Joba Andy Sheets/Lowe/Burnett/Hughes ..I'll take that I agree 100% Yeah but lets add the posting fee to the contract and see what we come up with If there is an opt-out clause, which very well may be true, I'm doubtful it would come before year 3 or 4 of the contract. If he can opt-out after 2 years then we did a terrible job negotiating this contract. He already got an extra year and an extra $20 Mil. He's played us like a piano this entire offseason.
  6. How exactly do you know he didn't talk to SF? Hopefully somewhere else. Jon Heyman said on WFAN this morning that the yanks were close on a 4 year, $66 mil deal with Lowe. There's all the Burnett talk going around. Frankly I let them both go elsewhere for that kind of bread. Re-sign Andy and bring in Sheets and we're good to go, IMO. And yes, I am happy that we got Sabathia, despite my rants yesterday. I am still a bit concerned though due to his lack of postseason success, and his weight. We will have to endure a few bad years of this 7 year contract, that's inevitable, but hopefully we have more good years than bad with him. It's going to be awfully painful to see a 35 year old overweight pitcher making $23 Mil struggling in the final year of his contract. Hopefully we have 28 or 29 Championships by then though. That would make it much more tolerable. lmao ...maybe it isn't such a good thing the new Yankee Stadium will feature a big steakhouse NYY Steaks or whatever it's called. I hope he doesn't like Italian food, because whatever happens we'll have to keep him away from Arthur Avenue while in the Bronx. After games we need to make sure he gets his ass on the Deegan and heads straight to Westchester or wherever he's gonna live. What we should do is make his fat ass walk to and from the Stadium everyday.
  7. It's just pending physical and some contract language. Jerry Manuel was joking about it with NY media. It's a done deal. Great job by the Mets.
  8. lol @ this thread
  9. I caught that when I looked at your stats, but thats over a 13 day period. Your 12 day period consists of 3 games. You have to actually count the day that the first game occurred on. I know it's not your fault as ESPN and other media outlets were making a big deal over what he did over a "12 day period" when it was going on, but still...
  10. I wouldn't be shocked to see giese brought back on a Minor League deal. edit: I stand corrected, he's still under contract, so no need to bring him back. 5G, 25IP, 33H, 22R (all earned), 22BB, 24K, 7.92 ERA, 2W, 3L What's that? Career postseason numbers. Dude just doesn't have it. In 5 games he averages 5 innings per start, gives up almost a run an inning, gives up almost a walk an inning, gives up more than a hit an inning, I'll give him credit for putting up almost a K per inning, but other than that none of his postseason numbers are very good. As for your stats, IT WAS ONE YEAR, AND HIS CONTRACT YEAR AT THAT. He's not that good every year. He was pretty darn good in 2007, won the Cy Young (although some can argue that Beckett was more deserving), but other than that he never really had another year that came close to either of the past 2. You think he's gonna have years like the one he had last year each of the next 6 seasons? It doesnt work like that, he won't be auditioning for a new contract each of the next 6 years.
  11. frankly I dont trust either of them, but if I had my choice it would be sheets, just because he won't cost as much, both in terms of money and years. We just got out from under the carl Pavano contract, and that alone is enough to warrant any Yankee fan's feeling of caution when it comes to pitchers like this.
  12. You find that to be crap? I think you're crazy. I think you need to get rid of this hard-on you have for him and stop making excuses. He can't do it in October period, and I dont wanna hear about his innings workload. Big game pitchers get it done, they thrive on the big stage, and CC just isn't one of those guys. Period.
  13. Mark Feinsand is now saying the offer is 2 years, $26 Mil. As for him being oft-injured, there's no debating that. The same is true with Burnett. If we're gonna have a pitcher go down, I'd rather it be a guy making $26 Mil over 2 years than a guy making $64 Mil over 4 years.
  14. I would love to add Sheets. He can give us what Burnett could give us for a fraction of the cost and nowhere near the length of commitment. Sign him up.
  15. Why?? Granted I won't turn him away if he comes here, but I don't want him that bad. I don't want that kind of commitment to him, both in terms of dollars and years. It's so unfortunate that this years pitching market is filled with a bunch of overrated, overvalued guys who are gonna cash in big because of lack of alternatives and good contract years. Same applies to CC, I'm sick of this bs with him, he's not even all that great. I think he's overrated, he sucks in the postseason, and with his body he'll probably start breaking down half way through his contract. Even Derek Lowe is gonna make big bucks and that's sickening. While I would certainly like to have CC, or even Burnett to a lesser extent, I won't be very disappointed at all if we miss out on all of them. I'd be content with just Andy and Sheets. I know exactly what will happen if we sign CC; he'll make $140+ mil, win 15-16 games in the regular season with a ERA of 3.50 or somewhere in that neighborhood, put together a representable season, and then when the postseason comes in his first start he'll be knocked out in the 4th inning after giving up 6 runs to a team like the White Sox or the Tigers or something. We sign Burnett, I see Pavano all over again. You realize the only year Burnett hasn't been on the DL was his contract year? He'll be hurt for an extended period of time in his 4th start. Now hopefully if we end up getting either of them I turn out to be wrong, but I just have a bad feeling about these guys. Idk what it is, but I think a guy like Sheets can give us the same performance as a Burnett for a fraction of the cost. And if he gets injured, which he also very well may do, we don't have a billion dollars invested in him over 20 years. As much as it pains me to say it, maybe Gom's right, we should have just gotten Johan last year when we had the chance. He's the closest thing to automatic ace to hit the market in the last 5 years, this one included. If CC doesn't want our $140, fine let him go be a Dodger. If Atlanta or Boston wants to get in a bidding war with us over Burnett, let him go. We're better off saving our money. I dont want to beg these guys to come here just so they can get hurt or choke in October. We've seen it happen all too often over the last 6-8 years.
  16. If it does come to fruition, great deal for Omar and the Mets. They could use him more than anyone, and for a long time I've had this image of Franky in a Mets uniform. Hopefully it gets done.
  17. I think they're the favorite. It's either the Giants or Yankees, IMO.
  18. SAN FRANCISCO I think that's where he goes if he turns down the Yankees. Not Milwaukee, not LA, but to the Giants.
  19. If one day Gom is ever rushed to the ER at the hospital where Jacko's working please alert me, I would love to be there.
