  1. whats the difference???? i saw him make some nice catches and isn't that what counts?? how about the throw in the World Series last year to get Suppan out.....David Ortiz is the f***en man and can do the job....he would just be a backup and I dont know where all this crap came from about Olerud....we only have half a season left...i think he can play for half a season
  2. I dont think we need all of them...well?? hmm....this is what we should look like.... Schilling ® Clement ® Wells (L) Wakefield ® Miller ® Timlin (closer) Arroyo (set-up righty) Lester (set-up lefty) Papelbon (set-up righty) Bradford (situational righty) Myers (situational lefty) 1. Damon (L) 2. Renteria ® 3. Ortiz (L) 4. Ramirez ® 5. Nixon (L) 6. Varitek (S) 7. Olerud (L) 8. Mueller (S) 9. Pedroia (R?)
  3. for those getting on Schilling.... I can understand where you come from....the guy makes his first appearance in the majors for months....goes into a role he hasn't been in for a long time...tied ball game with the biggest rivals and there best two hitters are at the plate....how the hell would you do???? give it a rest you s*** heads and lay off Schilling
  4. I still think Ortiz can play 1st base....he really isnt as bad as some believe
  5. yeah I say another year....move him up to AAA and trade Renteria the next year
  6. what do we do with Hanley??
  7. you think he is close to coming up though?? wasn't he just promoted or was that Sanchez??
  8. Ready to get crapped on?? haha just kidding cause I'm going to AGREE with you (go figure).....the guy isn't even 30 and would be amazing as our #2 or #6 hitter. Having Soriano/Edgar/Damon in the middle of the field would be lethal. The cost would probably be up there but what to do with him after?? Pedroia and Hanley aren't far off from moving up...but its a good problem to have.
  9. I was thinking he could replace Halama more than anything....i would prefer to bring up the young guys too....but are any of them lefty???
  10. No I would want him to start cause otherwise you have a top prospect wasting his time as opposed to getting at bats and being better in AAA
  11. I certainly don't think Pedroia will be Brian Roberts or Soriano.....everyone likes to talk about David Eckstein ....and they are probably right....he fits in perfectly with our team because he battles at every at bat and plays hard.....makes the pitch count go up and draws walks.....he would be a huge boost to the back of our lineup....Pedroia should be the first player brought up from our young talent...he it the most ready
  12. trust me its still a little early on Wade Miller....you may feel you have seen everything from him but you havent.....ive followed this guy for a long time and he will come around. So far he's had some bad luck but you have seen glimpses of what he can do. His control has been getting better and his velocity is just about back to where it was before his injury. Once the control is there he pounds the strike zone very well and has excellent movement....if you saw the Sox play against him when he was in Houston you would know what i mean....lots of potential
  13. hahaha if you are getting tired you know he is struggling. IMO he did have the biggest at bat last night where he just needed to get the ball to the outfield....and didn't....you could see Torre knew it was a big out as well. I don't see Pedroia coming in and self-imploding simply on the fact he works hard...if you do that you won't get too caught up....obviously you can expect errors but EVERYONE on the Sox makes errors
  14. Well I'm not saying it would happen and I'm not the only one who would love to have that rediculous rotation you mentioned.....the whole thing here is do you believe Arroyo is right for our rotation....I say no I like guys with a high ceiling for potential and Arroyo does not have it. Is he good? absolutly.....but he will only be as good as his potential and with a low velocity and limited pitch type its just not going to get done. I like going after guys such as Wade Miller and Matt Clement with that high potential....I hate going after guys like David Wells cause you know what they will give you (average).
  15. I agree....he is good enough to hold his own in the majors no question. The team around him is good enough to pick him up when they need to. His bat would be well served at the end of the lineup and a gutsy tough player is exactly what this team needs to get going.....he can hustle and make a defensive play that would pump up the team. He would need to jump right in though because I wouldnt want him sitting on the bench not getting any at bats
  16. With the 2nd highest payroll in baseball we can find players that are not meant to be #4 or #5 starters......look I like Arroyo but he is predictable and as the game progresses the teams time his breaking ball too well......he would be much better served in the pen where teams dont have time to adjust...he doesnt fool anyone as the game goes on cause its the same thing. Yeah he gives us a chance to win....not hard to do when your team is always scoring 6 runs....we dont need another Pedro. We do need another ace! Last year was a luxury to have Schilling and Pedro....but thats what it takes...hate it or love it thats what you need to win the World Series and we don't have it right now
  17. I'd rather have him in the bullpen where he gives us a chance to win late in the game and fill the rotation with #1 and #2 guys...with a middle rotation pitcher at the end
  18. I think the Marlins would have to eat up most of that contract from what I read....so he wouldn't cost much (not sure how reliable the source is).....but its worth a try I mean how much worse could Leiter be??? at least he has been successful before.....some notes about him this year.... His first inning ERA is 2.81 and he is MUCH better on the road (3.35 ERA) than at home (9.98 ERA)
  19. Being around athletes all the time deffinitly has its advantages...if they screw up...you get to cash in becasue they can afford it....gotta get Tiger Woods to break my arm with a golf club......$$$$$$$$
  20. I liked what I saw from Bradford last night....even though he walked A-Rod his velocity is where it should be. The command will come around and he made Sheffield look stupid at the plate. Having a lefty specialist and righty specialist will be nice to have....we just need to replace Embree so Timlin can come into games without runners always on base.
  21. Talks around the league are that John Henry LOVES AJ Burnett and a deal involving Arroyo has potential. The Sox are also looking at Al Leiter for the bullpen so if a deal is going to get done I think the Marlins are the team to do it with
  22. the Sox are looking into Al Leiter for the bullpen....experienced lefty could help out a lot if he can get his control back....then we won't need Embree I must say if i need to take away any positives....Schilling looked better once he got through Sheff and A-Rod....Bradford made Sheffield looks stupid at the plate....and dare i say...Millar hit the ball for once
  23. ill never understand how a pitcher with one pitch is so effective
  24. oh relax....we get to face Tim Redding tomorrow...0-5 with 9.08 ERA
  25. i can tell the YES guys are really sick of Ortizzle hahahaha.....absolute Yankee killer
