  1. i just said Giambi's name cause it was funny.... Seriously now...the guy for the Cubs stinks.... 119 hits through 84 games, 27 HR, 72 RBI, .378 BA.....whoever this guy is...if he keeps stinking he might get the triple crown....garbage damnit i hate Millar lol
  2. There is no way in a million years JASON VARITEK would say something like that. The only person who made a well known prediction was Dan Shaunessy...and he isnt on the damn team.
  3. steroids still give you small balls
  4. "We're much better than when we started," Ruben Sierra said, adding, "We're going to be in first place at the end." Oh Really?? And you are going to lead them correct?? maybe play some center field Sierra?? perhaps do some pitching?? of all the people to say this....Ruben Sierra?? who the hell is he to claim victory at the half way point lol wow i love it
  5. Jason Giambi (this month never happened shhhh)
  6. Just thought people would wanna see the grades the Boston Herald gave the team so far...... POSITION PLAYERS Johnny Damon (A) John Olerud (A) David Ortiz (A) Jason Varitek (A) Manny Ramirez (A-) Doug Mirabelli (B+) Kevin Youkilis (B+) Trot Nixon (B ) Bill Mueller (B-) Edgar Renteria (B-) Kevin Millar (C-) Mark Bellhorn (K) PITCHING Mike Timlin (A) Mike Myers (A) Matt Clement (A-) Bronson Arroyo (B+) Tim Wakefield (B+) David Wells (B-) Wade Miller (C-) John Halama (D-) Matt Mantei (F) Keith Foulke (F) Allen Embree (F) Terry Francona (A) http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=93343&format=&page=1
  7. I havent heard they completely turned it down because Berkman could move back to the outfield considering they have a hole there.
  8. Here some interesting notes.... -Houston may be interested in dealing Chad Qualls for Kevin Millar and sticking Berkman back in the outfield. -The Mets may also have interest in Millar but also may have interest in Shoppach (makes sense considering Piazza's age). -Jay Payton could fit into the outfield in Houston (leave Berkman at 1st). Here is an idea: -Red Sox Kevin Millar + Kelly Shoppach to Mets for Braden Looper -Red Sox Jay Payton to Oakland for Chad Bradford -Oakland Jay Payton to Houston for Chad Qualls (young reliever) -Red Sox Wade Miller + Braden Looper to Florida for AJ Burnett Just a thought
  9. thats just about every position though
  10. God I hope not....look I'm not the biggest Bellhorn fan but people need to remember he is a #9 hitter and he is better than almost all #9 hitters in my opinion
  11. Cora was brought in as a reserve not as a replacement to Bellhorn....i dont know who said that but thats just retarded
  12. The team needs to keep a sense of urgency....i hate this "we are in the lead and everyone acts like we are way behind" crap. Being in the lead this point of the season means absolutly nothing. Yes the teams in this division are better which means you need to stay on your toes. I'd rather have a team looking at what needs to be improved and look for a way to get hot then a team that sits at first and becomes relaxed if they form a big gap. That being said....its perfect we are in the mix this point of the season since we usually play our worst baseball at this time.
  13. Quoted from newsday.com..... Red Sox first baseman Kevin Millar is on the block, but he appears to be headed to the Astros in a deal for reliever Chad Qualls. http://www.newsday.com/sports/printedition/ny-spmside104338305jul10,0,2968772.story?coll=ny-sports-print I wonder how much truth there is to this??
  14. I think Ortiz should play 1st base and let the Johnny Helmet be the DH....I know Olerud is good defensivly but at his age I think he might do better just to focus on offense...we need that from him more than his defense.
  15. Yanks own Baltimore in two games....then we get owned by the Orioles in 4 games.....so you know what that means... we are going to own the Yanks in our next series to even it all out
  16. wow I f***ed that all up lol....sorry for the extra threads...first poll i tried to create
  17. Any other players besides the ones listed??
  18. Is it me or does it look like Millar gets worse every at bat???.....I have no hope when he steps up to the plate...always think of the worst and then...he hits into a double play.....my head hurts
  19. Another day...another game...and Bellhorn along with Millar get shut out looking stupid at the plate.... Starting to really get old
  20. biggest difference between Kim and Bradford.... Bradford has been pitching in the AL while Kim was in the NL More games against good teams like the Angels, Texas....he throws a hard sinker which is perfect for pitching in fenway....the ONLY question about him is his health.....I thought Mantei would be great but his injury has apparently damaged him completely
  21. I think everyone needs to relax with Curt....give him some time...setup/starter/closer.....in the end you all know he will be our front starter.....he can get us more wins by starting and Timlin is capable of the saves....have some faith in the management because its not like Schilling will be in the bullpen for the REST OF HIS LIFE Clement and Schilling will make up our 1-2 punch in the playoffs.
  22. If Bradford is back to his old self...he is a good pitcher....but I said the same thing about Matt Mantei....these guys coming off injuries make me nervous
  23. With Payton going to Oakland....Kotsay must be going to the Yankees??
  24. The Globe's Gordon Edes reported Friday that the Red Sox will trade Jay Payton - who was designated for assignment Thursday -- to the A's for veteran reliever Chad Bradford, a submarining righthander who has been on the disabled list since March 22 after a second back surgery. Edes continues: "Bradford, who is currently on rehab assignment, is expected to come off the DL after the All-Star break, which is why the announcement of the trade is pending -- the A's will need to clear a roster spot first. But in the first step toward that deal, the Sox yesterday designated Payton for assignment and called up Rule 5 outfielder Adam Stern from Triple A Pawtucket. Bradford's health makes him a bit of a risk, but when healthy, the 30-year-old seven-year veteran has been an effective setup man." The 6-foot-5 Bradford appeared in 68, 72, and 75 games for the A's in the last three seasons. Bradford's best season came in 2003, when he went 7-4 in 72 games with a 3.04 ERA. Last year, he was 5-6 with a 4.42 ERA in 68 games. The Providence Journal's Sean McAdam writes that Bradford's "sinking fastball generates lots of ground balls, and the Sox believe he can help them in the sixth and seventh innings."
  25. Looks like Payton is going to Oakland for Chad Bradford
