  1. I'd take Olerud or Papi over Millar, anyday. It's really another Moneyball[/b] theory. To put it simply, you're trying to get the best bat in the lineup because for instance, it's not likely that your first baseman is going to cost you many runs if he's an average fielder. It's like saying that we have Albert Pujols hitting DH... now who do you want in the spot at first? Papi, Olerud, or Millar? (Correct answer: Papi) You have to get the best bat out there and with the Red Sox right now that means forgetting the loyalty Francona has with Millar and get Olerud out there.
  2. I voted for the best players... that's what the All-Star game is about. I took the time to think over both the AL and NL and in the case of the NL, there were one or two positions that I wasn't sure of so I took a look at a variety of stats and decided on the best player. That's how it's supposed to be done.
  3. Schil pitched very well tonight, and it really looks like he's getting back in the groove of what it's like to be a reliever. Here's tonight's stats along with the rest of this years: H/A IP H R ER SO/BB HR BF G/F PC GSc 04/13 C.Schilling.. H 5.2 9 5 5 5/1 2 27 5/7 108 35 L 04/18 C.Schilling.. 4. If by that you're saying that it's going to take a miracle for your guys to pull it out, you're right. But don't count on one. It's probably also a good thing that you don't care what we think of you or your team.... because no one here likes you OR your team. But since it is a free nation, I'm sure you will continue on posting pictures of Derek Jeter and making stupid comments, and as much as you enjoy yourself on here, we enjoy 10x as much laughing at you. So continue on, your posts have the typical intelligence of a Yankees fan.
  5. The last time I remember you asked for the score was two days ago and we were down at that point as well.
  6. The real difference between Boston and New York, is a World Series of recently, the number of All-Stars/talent, and ball grabbing (or slapping), steroid using, cheaters play in New York. P.S. The last time you were begging to see the Sox, JetersWifey, you were EMBARRASSED by David Wells and outscored by 16 in another game. Now you WANT to come to our place? You can't beat us in New York, how are you going to come close in Boston?
  7. Well, atleast he'll be there and representing us.
  8. No, and if you want the score when you know we're down, I'd suggest looking at http://www.redsox.com instead of continually asking us.
  9. Just saw it while watching the Astros/Dodgers on FOX. They said it during the game break... the ball Halliday took off his knee will cause him to not only miss the All-Star game, but about a month after that. Also, Francona had a long meeting with Clement before the game.
  10. Because the Yankees have won a few games, tek_me_out_to_the..., that's when they decide to bug us with stupid comments. I mean, when was the last time you saw YANKEESRULE on? When you see him on, you know the Yanks have won a couple and the Sox are playing average.
  11. This MLB Radio is definitely worth it, RedSoxRooter, considering all the times that FOX decideds to leave out Red Sox fans from the games. I think on the 16th v. New York, we'll both get the game, though, I checked and there is no Astros, Rangers, or Braves game scheduled for FOX.
  12. Holy sh-t. 9-2-6-2? Geez... who are the Nats playing?
  13. So I guess Jeter being a 9 time All-Star doesn't matter either. I'm looking at his '04 and '05 stats and here are my comments: What captain?
  14. Well, the Astros have a FOX game today, so I'm getting that. Oh well, nothing wrong with listening to WEEI while posting on talksox.
  15. Yeah, I wish I could watch as well. FOX blows for cutting a lot of Red Sox Nation out every Saturday. You know, FOX, there are Red Sox and Orioles fans OUTSIDE of Boston & Baltimore. I know that maybe tough to understand, but there really are.
  16. Baltimore was the reason we didn't win the East last year. Toronto better not be that reason this year, or I'm going to be pissed off.
  17. I believe they used to put the shift on with Ted Williams, as well.... pansies.
  18. I guess it has to be, I mean.... not much else is going right for those pathetic bastards. Where's the front page about Jeter not making the All-Star team? That's right.... Jeter could hit .100 and the papers wouldn't give a rats ass because he's the "captain".
  19. Right now, I'd take Edgar Renteria over Jeter, just like elsrbueno said, there's probably 10 shortstops in the game better than Derek right now. Why do you Yankees fans praise him so much for what he's doing this year? You jackasses look at the past for everything don't you? Why is that.... is it because your team isn't good enough to compete now? What, is Jeter like the fourth best SS in the AL East? The most popular Yankee "captain" doesn't put up the numbers and can't even make it as a BACKUP in the All-Star game? I hope you enjoy going back up to Michigan and thinking about why your team has played like crap for half the year. You're an embarrassment, Jeter.
  20. I'm sure if he's a hometown guy, Theo should have an eye on him. The good thing maybe that the Cubs are buying at the trading deadline, so a guy like this that will help out in the future they may trade for someone that would help them now. Hopefully we have our eye on this guy if he's as good as you say he is.
  21. YanksHater213, I tried to figure out a way to make it bigger, but when I put it on the website that I put all my pictures on (http://photobucket.com/albums/v214/Nomar-follower2k7/?) it wouldn't get any bigger. If you want to make it, all I did was open up paint on my computer, copied and pasted a random wallpaper on there then deleted it making the white space as big as my wallpaper. Then on paint I clicked the 'line' button and chose the thickest one and divided everything into four spaces. I then went on the Boston Globe website, opened up each the Celtics, Bruins, Patriots, and Red Sox pages and chose wallpaper, here are those links: http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/extras/wallpaper/ http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bruins/extras/wallpaper/ http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/extras/wallpaper/ http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/2004wallpaper/ (2004 Wallpapers) After I opened up the wallpaper page, I just copied the smaller pictures and lined them up on paint. For instance, I used these two pictures on there: http://cache.boston.com/images/sports/bruins/neely/neelynight1_tn.jpghttp://cache.boston.com/images/sports/bruins/2003/bruins1_tn.jpg Hopefully that helps out if you want to make one. Just PM me or respond on this thread if you have any questions.
  22. Hmm.... let me look back at my statement. Now I'm going to view the upcoming schedule you have that AgentAnni kindly posted, I'm going to take a look at your OF/your starting pitchers ERAs and let me think..... Yep, I stand by that statement along with the 13 other voters who voted in this poll that you are done. Just twelve games ago, Tampa Bay finished you off AGAIN, do you really think things have changed? When you went on your run earlier in the year, did you actually think things changed then, also? You're done, just look forward to the Jets football season and sit quietly and watch the Yankees stumble begin again soon.
  23. PhillyPhan, do you see the Sox having a chance at getting Robinson Tejada? Looking at his numbers, I assume that he is a middle relief guy who can also start games. He's very young, making his MLB debut earlier this year. What's amazing, though, is his 1.96 ERA in 36.2 IP.... personally I'll take this young kid and get him signed instead for a couple of years instead of getting Wagner. Of course, I don't want the extents are to his contract right now.
  24. Payton doesn't necessarily have a designated OF position, right? I don't think I've seen him play LF, but I'd assume he'd be happy in CF or RF. If Payton went to Florida, I don't see him starting in right because of Miguel Cabrera's .336 BA to go along with 61 RBI and 16 HR. In CF, the Marlins have Juan Pierre, who's a career .307 hitter so thinking about it, if Payton wants playing time, Florida may not be the ideal place unless he wants to continue being another fourth OFer. Back to the Brew Crew and getting Overbay, what trade would work? They probably have too deep of an OF for Payton to be involved in a trade. I look through Milwaukee's farm system, and they don't really have anything special at the catching position in AAA or AA, so if we wanted Overbay, since we have V-tek and Mirabelli locked up for a while, Shoppach and others in a deal could be possible.
  25. Crazy idea: Deal Millar, use Ortiz at 1B and Youk at DH? Just throwing out ideas early in the morning.
