  1. Mora grounds out. Mariners about to bat in the bottom of the ninth inning. C'mon M's!
  2. Trouble in Seattle. Sammy Sosa just struck out, but the Orioles have Brian Roberts on second with two outs in a 2-2 game in the 9th. I'm listening to the game right now, so I'll keep you guys updated.
  3. I think when Millar asked to be traded, he was looking for some love from the Sox, some assurances that he still figured prominently in their plans for the rest of the season. Kind of along the lines of, if I'm not going to play, I'd rather go elsewhere.
  4. Can't do that for you, RedSox911, but here are some interesting facts: Bellhorn's slump is so deep right now it's looking like this -- 4 for 35, .114 in July; .187 (.299 OBP) in 36 games since June 1. Bellhorn's whiffs since June 1, 49, outnumber his hits (23) and walks (21) combined.
  5. Yeah, it's great. I think everyone enjoys the intensity of the games, and since a lot of people will post while watching the game vs. the Yankees, a lot of things that are said probably shouldn't be about New York and maybe are regretted a little later, but things will cool off after the series. There seem to be a lot of people here that really know their baseball, so I'm sure you'll fit right in.
  6. I have no clue why Damon doesn't steal more... he has 10 stolen bases on the year and has only been caught once. You'd think we'd recognize that. And Renteria has stolen eight bags and has only been caught once. I know we are into the whole Moneyball thing, and taking the risk of making an out isn't supposed to be the way to go, but c'mon Terry.... choose to send 'em sometimes, not just on hit and runs.
  7. I think you've just caught us at a bad time with the Yankees in town. After the Yankees leave to go onto Texas and the Sox take on Tampa Bay things will go back to being more peaceful. Seems like things get a little hectic around here when we are playing New York, especially with the lead as short as it is and it being a four games series. Hope you enjoy posting here.
  8. They exist... such as the one right above this response that I have you quoted with, with me giving credit to Cano and former Yankee, Miguel Cairo. I am fair to admit that, that 3-0 pitch to Williams was an easy ball and because of that lead to, we got out of the inning. To beat Rivera, you also have to catch some breaks.... and we didn't catch any today.
  9. I guess you could call him "the next Manny", but like said, he's only hit 6 HR this year, but his speed certainly makes up for that. He leads the Sea Dogs with 18 SB, and a certain plus is that he doesn't strike out very much. There's a lot of talent that definitely should be tried at the major league level. There's no doubt that Pedroia will get called up and get some ABs at the major league level, and I'm sure Hanley will be moved up to AAA for next season, if not before that. Right now, it's tough letting some of these guys hit up in the majors because of all the pitching help we're having to bring in. I still feel bad that we can't get Youk into the action anymore than we do. (He's back down at AAA now, for all those who didn't know)
  10. Ortiz: Game winning HR in game three of the ALDS against the Angels. Game winning HR in game four of the ALCS for the win. Game winning basehit in game five of the ALCS for the win. Game winning walkoff HR in the 9th against Baltimore at Fenway earlier this year. David Ortiz was 12-for-31, f***ing hitting .387 with 11 RBI and 3 HR against your pitching staff in the seven games of the 2004 ALCS. And in the four games of the World Series hit .308, walking four times, driving in 4 RBI and hitting a HR. How much more f***ing clutch can you be? Alex Rodriguez shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence with Papi.... maybe you turned off the game yesterday, but Ortiz had a grand slam and was responsible for six of the Sox 17 RBI. Congrats on your little two-run homerun A-Rod, it's just too bad that for every good play against the Sox you make, you throw a ball away and make an error.
  11. Been watching some of the games this summer... Bynum is a guy that certainly really looks like he could be a pretty good player. If I remember right, he was the kid from Georgia Tech that went undrafted. There is talks of comparing him in a way to Pierce, except unlike Paul Pierce he likes taking more turnaround shots -- Pierce would rather drive or take a jumpshot instead. For not being picked in the draft, he's supposed to be a great addition. Ryan Gomes (the guy taken 50th in the second round for the C's) looks like a pretty big guy, I think he was listed at 6'7, 250 lbs. but there's no way right now he looks 250. He's lost some weight over the summer, but still is a fairly big guy. He's a local kid who went to HS in Waterbury (Conn.) and just tore it up when he went to Providence. I expect big things out of him -- remember, unlike a lot of professional players these days, Gomes went to college all four years. Some other little notes: - I remember watching Allen at Oklahoma State in 2004... he's a very aggresive and quick guy, that is going to come up with some steals and nice defensive plays to go along with the good amount of points he puts up. Expect him to get more playing time this year and take advantage of that time he gets. -Gerald Green didn't play great, but you have to remember he's a guy right out of HS (and he didn't play his freshman and sophmore) and it's going to take a little time more him to develop. Like YanksHater213 said, if he lives up to the hype, the NBA is going to be in trouble. I also really believe Perkins and Jefferson who both came straight from high school will help Green with the adjustment. If any of you remember, the Globe had an article about the three in yesterday's paper. All in all, I'm going to state the obvious: the Celtics have a lot of young talent. Over these next few years it's going to be really interesting what this group of young players can accomplish. I still don't know how we picked up Green, but the biggest problem the Celtics have is we don't have a real veteran core leadership. I know the C's didn't need or want a HS player, so it'll be interesting to see if he can live up to all of this. Hopefully this isn't like Acie Earl when he fell down in the draft and the Celtics were so excited to get him, and you could say things didn't turn out well. I still think it'll be three or four years before Green makes a significant impact, but who knows. A final thought: With the pickups of Green, Jefferson, and Perkins, the C's now have nine players twenty-three or younger on their team -- a little scary if you ask me.
  12. I actually enjoy watching Cano -- atleast as much as you can enjoy watching a Yankee player. It must be something with Yankee second baseman, because I enjoyed watching Cairo last year, as well.
  13. Amazing, things have sure changed in New York. If I remember right, the Yankees used to not be satisfied when they were behind us. Now they are celebrating being only 1 1/2 back. Which is fine, you'll lose tomorrow and lose two of three in Texas.
  14. I still give Rivera credit, ARod2212, but I still think he's beatable. Who knows what would have happened if Renteria wasn't rung up on a bad call. Props to Rivera, but if anyone can get to him, we can.
  15. Umpires thoughts with Rivera in: Hey, it's one of the greatest closers ever... let's give him every call so he can convert another save. If the ball is outside of the strikezone, just give him the call anyway. And if Renteria doesn't go around, say he did so we can all go home. Pathetic... Rivera is still beatable and I GUARANTEE he blows another save against us this year. Quote me on that.
  16. Well.... it's up to Schil to keep this game to within three runs. Let's go Red Sox!
  17. Welcome to the site.
  18. YOU'RE A JACKASS. Do you not realize that Redding ONLY went 1.0 IP? Explain to me what happened with the next four Yankee pitchers.... Redding gave up 6 ER, what about the other 11? Or explain to me why you put up one run against Wells, HALAMA, and GONZALEZ. Halama isn't much of a major leaguer and Gonzalez has been at AAA for most of the year and we're not using that excuse about Triple-A, now are we? Yankees suck.
  19. No, you didn't have STARTING pitching.... so after your boy went 1 IP, the other 7 shouldn't have been that bad. And where were your bats?
  20. Just saw that on redsox.com, sweet!
  21. Did you kindly remind him what he just said: "his inside the park homerun." I mean, you allowed an inside the park homerun in the first place and your outfield sucks.
  22. Wow, look at the lack of class some of these guys have after getting slapped around: http://boards.yesnetwork.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51489 Proclaiming that your team should bean Ortiz because your team SUCKS and is constantly reminded of that by the Red Sox, isn't the way to go.
  23. Looks like you can shove those Friday papers up your ass, ARod2212.... should be interesting what tomorrow's papers have to say.
