  1. So let me ask you this, then Redmond: On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being a horrible job and 10 being a absolutely brilliant job, how would you rate Theo Epstein's overall running of the team since he has been here? You see, yeszir is right. Yeah, everytime I see Willy Mo walk up to the plate and strike out on three pitches it makes me want to throw up, but let's give it a more time. Two years ago, this guy hit 26 homeruns in Cincinnati! The guy is what, something like 24 years old? This is only really his fourth year in the majors ('02, he only had 18 ABs). Plus, as bad as it seems, he is 1-for-5 at the plate (an RBI double). Who says this guy won't be really great down the road? We had a loaded pitching staff, so we traded away a 4th or 5th starter in exchange for a potentially really great outfielder. I see no problem.
  2. I hardly remember those times, Soxfan#1. I think we've all realized that the real enemies are Yankees fans who try to overtake the board and we have moved on to making fun of them.
  3. Hey, Eric. Hopefully over the last six months, you haven't gathered completely bad things about all of us.
  4. Welcome from Texas (San Angelo to be exact). It is nice going to see the Sox play the Rangers in Arlington and having an abundance of Sox fans around you. Hope you post often on here.
  5. Isn't that what they advertise a fair amount on NESN during the games? Unless I am missing something, that looks like a pretty sweet deal. Pay $9.95 and you get the gameday audio all season (normally a $14.95 value) as well as some discounts for Red Sox online shopping. I have been considering it, and since I plan on purchasing the gameday audio sometime soon, I will probably just go ahead and get this.
  6. Tonights opponent, last years runner-up to last place in the AL East, including 21 games behind DADDY Boston, your Baltimooooooore Orioooooles: http://www.ncbsa.com/gallery/teams99/devo_orioles.JPG
  7. Welcome. I'm the guy that will be giving your team hell over the next 159 games and into the offseason.
  8. Clement's game-by-game vs. Baltimore last year: 04/21: 8 IP, 8 hits, 0 ER, 7/1 SO/BB, 110 PC, WIN (Camden Yards) 04/26: 4.2 IP, 12 hits, 7 ER, 1/1 SO/BB, 96 PC, ND (Fenway Park) 06/02: 6 IP, 6 hits, 3 ER, 4/3 SO/BB, 101 PC, ND (Fenway Park) 09/03: 8 IP, 6 hits, 2 ER, 4/2 SO/BB, 110 PC, WIN (Fenway Park) 09/24: 6 IP, 4 hits, 0 ER, 4/6 SO/BB, 116 PC, ND (Camden Yards) To sum a little of that up, last year at Oriole Park in two matchups Clement was brillaint. A combined 14 IP in those two games not allowing an earned run while giving up only tweleve Oriole hits. Should be a good game this evening.
  9. Tough news. Gagne is so fun to watch pitch. In other news: I like the new avatar, Beckett95.
  10. Oh geez, 26-6. Do we need another YES vs. NESN argument? I haven't seen enough of YES outside the Yankee games to make a judgement, but NESN's coverage of the Red Sox is by far superior of YES's coverage of the Yankees (pre-game show, game coverage, post-game show).
  11. I remember that game, riverside. What a beauty. Was at Fenway Park either last year or the year before if I remember right.
  12. Due up next for New York: BALCO. I'm headed to bed. You guys keep up the good work with the Yankees thread.
  13. Sturtze gets the out.
  14. C'mon Jay Payton! I loved watching you play in Boston, make me feel the same way about Oakland.
  15. Thanks, Wang! Wang walks in a run.
  16. Just noticed that Jeter had an error earlier in the game, so does this mean: Gonzalez > Jeter.
  17. I'll never laugh at the guy. What he did in the postseason for us in 2004, was brilliant. (I will laugh at Damon, though.)
  18. 4-3, Empire in the bottom of the 5th. Mark Ellis AB with Kotsay on 1st and no outs.
  19. Thanks, RSR and jsinger. Also, that is great news, mtbykr. I would personally like to see Foulke get another shot. If on Friday in Baltimore we are in a one run game in the 9th, I'd like to see if he could come in and get a save. From there, I will personally make a better judgement of him.
  20. Quick question: Is the postgame coverage still going on right now on WEEI (11:23 ET)? I am trying to listen to WEEI online, and all I get is static.
  21. Game: Great showing by Beckett. Nice shot by Nixon. Thank you, Papelbon! Other: I apologize for all who had to put up with FSN Southwest tonight. Just imagine watching them year after year everytime Boston plays Texas.
  22. Manny has looked a little uncomfortable in the batters box these first couple of games (especially yesterday when Padilla blew a couple of fastballs by him). Hopefully he gets on track tonight.
  23. Everywhere but Tampa Bay.
  24. Third game of the series! C'mon Beckett!
  25. Half the callers last night were blaming Bard, while the other half blamed Wakefield (taking it to the extent that we screwed Wake over by bring in Bard and Bard shouldn't catching or Wake shouldn't have started last night... it's ridiculous). After the 7-4 win, a majority of the talk was about Foulke. It's just how it goes. When things go good, they look for the bad. When things go really bad... well, yeah.
