  1. When your 3-4-5 hitters have gotten on base 11 out of 12 times today you're going to score a lot of runs. As bad as the Yankee bullpen is, the Pirates bullpen is giving them a run for their money.
  2. Yankee relief pitchers, outside of Rivera and to some extent Proctor, simply have very little control of there pitchers, although the 1-2 to McClouth was a strike. EDIT: Got out of it, but as I said in another the thread, I think the bullpen is going to keep this team from having any legitimate shot at the division. Even though the first four pitchers in the rotation are good, only two of them, Wang and Pettitte, are going to go deep in games. When Mussina and Clemens are pitching the bullpen is going to be heavily relied upon to close out games. As for when the fifth starter pitches, well I don't even want to think about it...
  3. Hopefully Clippard will not have the same fate.
  4. Oppurtunity for the Mets to get back in the game...
  5. In my opinion the thing that will hurt the Yankees, especially if they don't make any changes, is the bullpen. Besides Rivera and Proctor (sometimes Proctor included), their other relievers have poor control.
  6. I believe his next start will be on Friday, against the Mets, one which I will be in attendance for.
  7. Is it possible that it has something to do with the time frame that FOX owns? If so I'm not sure why YES would be able to show the game. As for the game itself, unless the Yankees score a bunch of runs in the bottom of the sixth, Roger is going to want to come out for the seventh, but I doubt Torre and Guidry are going to let him. I think he really was pretty sharp today. His first two innings were fairly rough, and he threw a lot of pitches which hurt him, but after that he really settled down. Wilson did a nice job with the two run double, and Roger would really just have to tip his hat to him. The one thing that I really liked about this is that it's becoming clear that the Yankees finally have a strikeout pitcher. His splitter, as Al Leiter is saying, was really sharp today. EDIT: I understand it's against the Pirates, and all of you guys are going to probably say that he shouldn't be giving up three runs against a team like that...and I agree. But it was his first start, and, in my opinion, he was pretty sharp, especially after the first two innings.
  8. Oppurtunity wasted, and considering they're going to have to go to the bullpen early, and Joe is going to be hesitant to use Rivera (so it's a short bullpen anyway), one run there is not nearly enough.
  9. Alright, this is their chance... EDIT: Abreu has got to go to third on that.
  10. Exactly, if he goes after it like that he has got to make the play. If he isn't going to catch it he has got to play it off the wall and try to keep the runner from first from scoring.
  11. Jeter's intangibles placed that dribbler in the perfect spot...
  12. As bad as the White Sox offense is right now, it's still a really positive sign for the Yankees that Moose is pitching this well.
  13. Oh, ok, I thought you were referring to their normal lineup.
  14. Actually, that's not true. Since Thome has come back there lineup has been Owens, Iguchi, Thome, Dye, Pierzynski, and Konerko.
  15. It's not for a lack of good hitters, it's more of the fact that they're in a collective slump.
  16. Yankees trying to win their third road series of the year tonight... EDIT: And that won't help, the Sox have a base runner.
  17. After winning a championship it is usually important to make changes, because some teams tend to get complacent if there are no new additions.
  18. May 2nd: Youkilis (by Marshall) OAK-BOS Crawford (by Bonser), Tyner (by Seo) MIN-TB DeJesus (by Santana) LAA-KC Floyd (by Snell) CHC-PIT Rolen (by Villanueva) StL-MIL Boone (by Smith) FLA-NYM Saltalamacchia (by Garcia) PHI-ATL Ausmus (by Lohse) CIN-HOU Aurilia (by Francis) COL-SF
  19. It's amazing how many "fights/stupid arguments" there have been going on here considering the Red Sox are having a great season, especially in the IGT's.
  20. I think the whole Clemens thing is pretty basic, he's not nearly worth the money they're paying him, but he's definitely an upgrade over others that have started games for the 2007 New York Yankees.
