  1. Ugh, one bad five minute stretch costs them the game. If they could get game two it would be amazing, but I'm not expecting it. Hopefully it'll be different back in the Garden.
  2. Wow, Burnett is so talented. Great pitch right there, and it's impressive to see him want to come back inside after Posada ripped the last one just foul.
  3. Well how do you want him to set the lineup up? He'd rather people like Cano batting lower in the lineup so they come up in more RBI situations. Obviously you want to get people on for Abreu and A-Rod, but he probably thinks that if Damon gets on Minky will see a lot of fastballs and that might get him going a little bit. By the way, finally a Yankee starting pitcher who can strike someone out.
  4. Why are you pitching Thomas away? He loves to extended his arms and drive the ball to the opposite field or straight away center. Try to throw the ball under his hands, like the 1-2 pitch. I'd really like to see him drop his hands on a 95 MPH fastball and line it into left. Well, he set up the batter nicely there.
  5. Even though AJ Burnett is not exactly your perfect pitcher (because he gets injured so often) Phil should really watch how he pitches to these batters. Burnett and Hughes are very similar in a lot of aspects, including kinds of pitches and velocity, but there is a big difference. At this point, Phil really just doesn't know how to set up counts and hitters. Burnett is very good at that. If he could only stay healthy he'd sure be something to watch. I'm a Hughes fan, but this is just a little too early. For one, he isn't stretched out and he just doesn't have enough experience. By the way, I'm not reacted to the fact that he gave up two first inning runs.
  6. I guess we were thinking along the same lines.
  7. Pettitte vs. Burnett tonight I think it's time for a little two game winning streak before the Red Sox come to town.
  8. Well, I'll take that one as a joke lol. Anyways good luck yankeessuck. It should be a good series.
  9. Would have been the perfect addition by subtraction. It would have gotten Melky and(might, but probably not) Myers off the team.
  10. True, however that is not really a concern at this point.
  11. There isn't really a problem with it besides the fact that he said on the pregame that he was going to try to stay away from him. Doesn't sound like he tried to hard. My problem is the intentional walk, but I've gone through that enough in previous posts. Also, Melky should have been the guy that was sent down today instead of Kevin Thompson. Melky is struggling and the Yankees should be looking to get him regular AB's. Send him to AAA and keep Kevin Thompson with the big club. Still baffles me that they didn't trade Melky when he stock was so high. Unreal.
  12. I still can't believe that Joe intentionally walked Baldelli in that situation. He has to think about the team he is playing. Even if you give up one or two runs in the inning there is a good chance that the Yankees are going to be able to score at least one run in the last two innings considering how poor the D-Rays bullpen is. Joe has to avoid the big inning at all costs. By putting another runner on base and almost guaranteeing that you're going to see Crawford again is a huge mistake. Also, it hurts that Joe replaced Damon and Melky (I'm assuming Damon's is not due to injury) for defensive replacements in a run one game where you still have nine outs to go. Joe has to realize that there is a good possibly that the D-Rays tie it or take the lead. It seems like everytime he subs out one of his regulars late in the game in comes back to bite him.
  13. Still can't lay off the sinker, even when they're ahead in the count.
  14. That was incredible. Camp hasn't thrown a single pitch in the strike zone. Giambi saw Camp throw A-Rod three straight pitches that started at the knees and ended up low. Yet he goes out there and swings at two of the first three pitches. Nice swing, but even that pitch wasn't in the strike zone. The guy has gotten two of the first three batters out yet he hasn't thrown a single pitch that ended up over the plate. And there was his first.
  15. The problem is that Camp's a sinkerballer. EDIT: He did a great job of keeping it down in the zone.
  16. What really pisses me off is that Joe isn't thinking ahead. Unless you get a double play you're going to have to face Crawford with men on base. I just don't get it Joe sometimes.
  17. At least some of that has to fall on the manager. You can't walk Baldelli intentionally in that situation because you almost guarantee yourself that you're facing Crawford in the inning. That was truly a terrible move. On top of that, Myers really has no place on a MLB roster. I can't think of anyone that is less valuable than Mike Myers. He really does very little for the Yankees. The fact that (I know it's early in the season) lefties are hitting considerably higher against him than righties is concerning in it's on right. He is being paid to get out the premier left handed hitters in baseball. Instead he's taking up someone elses spot who could give them more than one batter at a time. Think of it like this, the bullpen is so overworked and so exhausted yet the Yankees have a guy who doesn't usually pitch to more than one batter. Does that make sense to anyone?
