  1. no doubt about it, i'm not saying he's going to evolve into something. he'll most likely not do anything for us. i'm just saying that you can get a legit player off waivers. hell manny was put on waivers :-D john
  2. i believe it was 68 that they lowered the mound.. or was it 69? gibson had that great season in 68, i think they lowered the mound after that, i can't remember exactly. anyways. i'm not sure if it's better for the game of baseball, it would be better if MLB did something about it, as of now it han't changed baseball one bit. the ones rubbing cream on themselves are still doing it. john
  3. well now that i'm in a dreaming state. here is my fantasy red sox team: this is not a team where i need the best players at every position, this is a team that i can put out there everyday that will grind away opposing pitchers and opposing batters, a team of guys that i like and guys that are just awsome to cheer for. Position player: lineup order CF - damon SS - OC / Nomahh (before the a-rod trade fuss) RF - manny DH - DO C - i-rod LF - nixon 3b - mueller 1b - meinky / millar 2B - pokey bench: util - roberts util - millar C - mirabelli INF - youk OF - kapler SP: Pedro - R Schilling - R Pavano - R Arroyo - R kim - L Bullpen: Wakefield - R k-rod - R king - L kim - R nathan - R kazmir - L fantasy.... john
  4. it seems as if the yankees are finally addressing some of their problems. these were good moves by the yankees. with the addition of a few SP's they'll be a very scary team. john p.s.- when is K-rod a free agent, him in a sox uniform would be awsome.
  5. eh, i'm kinding kicking myself in the nuts here. but bellhorn was good at times in the season. i hate how he struck out so damn much. but he did get "hot" when it counted. either way for someone who was claimed off waivers he turned out pretty good. a high amount of walks, high amount of doubles, had good power and played par 2nd base. the downside was the record setting k's. but hey, for waivers, not too bad. john p.s.- was millar claimed off waivers? for some reason i think he was..
  6. i feel sorry for giambi, this never should have been leaked out. there are many players in baseball that take roids, hating on just giambi is not right. how about sheffield, he took the same stuff giambi took, but no one is hating on him, of course, cus he still bats around .300, with 30+ HR and 100 + rbi. i wouldn't feel bad for giambi if MLB was ACTUALLY trying to crack down on roids, but they really don't care, it's all about the HR's. bigger the bats the more tickets they sell. the nub fans of these days think a multi hr game is so much better than a great pitching performance. john
  7. arroyo and bellhorn were claimed off waivers too. they seemd to work out pretty well for nobodies.. john
  8. don't get me wrong here, i'm not saying i don't want tek back. but i don't want him back if we need to throw in a no trade clause and spend more than 8 mill per year on him. tek is extremely overrated in boston. yeah, he's one of the better catchers in mlb, but honestly, i'de rather have TWO of the better pitchers than one of the better catchers. as for the pedro loud mouth. yeah, he has a big mouth, HOW does that make him an *******? you people are rediculous, have you ever met pedro? do you know him, do you hang out with him? how can you cheer for a guy every 4th or 5th day when you are here calling him an *******? i hope i don't ever see you or hear you cheering for pedro if he comes back. why would you cheer for an *******, right? lets be reasonable now, everone has their ways of negotiation contracts, what makes you think that PEDRO is the one that is telling the media that the mets and yankees have made him offers or met with him? is it not POSSIBLE that the yankees are the ones that told reporters that they met up with pedro (so the sox would offer more) or the METS that told the media that they made pedro an offer? that my friend, is REALITY. john
  9. lol of course tek isn't meeting with other gm's who in their right mind would give him 5 years 55 mill with a no trade clause? pedro meets with others because they are offering something he is willing to accept. NO ONE but the sox are offering tek even anything close to what he wants. think OUTSIDE the box. the problem with the "fans" is that they react with the media. the media makes too big of a deal about pedro and nothing about tek. it's easier for them. tek is the quiet guy who says nothing, pedro is the guy that has a big mouth. it's easy for them to make pedro look a bad guy and tek to be a good guy. you guys fell for it like suckers. john
  10. ahhchon + crespo = eternal lovers boras is just a fling. john
  11. john
  12. you guys are so blinded by your love for tek that you blame everything on boras. it's pathetic. an agents job is to get the most money possible for their clients. the ones who do so are the best agents. simple as that. tek gives boras numbers that he at least has to get, it's boras' job to get him more than that. anything less is obviously unacceptable, resulting in the firing of boras. john
  13. what planet are you on? tek: (talking to boras) i want this this and this boras: (talking to sox) we want this this and this. sox: (talking to boras) we'll only give you this much boras does all the negotiations and does the best he can to get trot what he wants. he's the best agent because he gets it done the most often. i'm sure tek only wants the no trade clause and about 9-10 mill a year. but for the sox to offer him that boras has to ask for MORE than that. if he asked for 9-10 mill a year the sox would counter with LESS. john
  14. tell me, why is boras the bigger ******* again? i thought tek was the aging catcher that is demanding a no trade clause and 5 yr 55 mill. last i remembered the players sign the contracts, not the agents. tek isn't worth more than 7 mill per. PERIOD. john
  15. i'm so lost.. so rules was highlighted, what made you want to click on "in"? the hint would help too. john
  16. where is the first clue? john
  17. even at his lowered 4 year 44 mill + no trade clause he's rediculous.. no more than 3 years guaranteed at 27 mill for tek imo. john
  18. don't blow it out of proportion. the ones you inject are steriods, the others are more like enchancers... john
  19. hudson is the only one of the big 3 that i honestly fear. but i don't see how we need to get a big name pitcher to compete with the yanks, maybe to win the al east. but in a 5 or 7 game series we match up with them very well. remember, the sox are trying to CUT payroll. getting hudson for 1 year only to have him be a free agent after that is not really the best way to do that. giving up trot, who's only making 6.5 mill (or so) for 1 year of guaranteed tim hudson is not worth it. i don't see what's wrong with the current sox team. didn't this team just win the world series? resign pedro (if possible), sign pavano, let tek, oc and everyone else go. pitching wins championships, not catching. did sandy koufax, gibson, rj, schilling etc need an aging catcher to win championships? don't get me wrong having a catcher that is capable of hitting is great, it makes your lineup that much deadlier. but tek is on the decline and we have to realize that paying him 11 mill (if it's not backloaded) for a 37 year old catcher is crazy! not to mention that no trade clause he wants.. i'm rambling, i'm shutting up now. john
  20. with hudson on the market? i wouldn't be surprised if it was the truth. a javy hudson trade would be weird. the yankes would have to eat part of javys contract, probably 3-4 mill. hudson is a free agent after 05. so if the yankees sign hudson for (oh lets say) 14 mill a year they'll actually be paying 18 mill a year for hudson. yeah, hudson is good, but not 18 mill good. pedro was barely being paid 18 mill in the older market and put up sub 2.5 era's multiple times, not to mention 2 cy youngs, triple crown, multiple league k and era leads.. either way i see it is this: if the yankees lose javy it's a good thing. i think he's still a decent pitcher and if they get hudson or rj in return they will only be yankees (guaranteed) for 1 year. after that it's free agency unless the yanks outbit everyone else. john
  21. hop diggady dog.. i'm excited. john
  22. umm, you forgot about them eagles. right now i'de put money on: pats eagles steelers indy john
  23. i was under the impression (cus i swear i read somewhere) that rj is making 17 mill next season.. add the 4 to that and it puts him to 21.. pretty crazy if you ask me. john
