  1. umm, i believe bellhorn is allready under contract... ? john
  2. wow, stop dreaming.. sign lowe? no thanks, he's way too up and down. who knows if he'll ever pitch like he did in the post season ever again? i'm not going to risk 8+ mill a year for that. zito- i'm not impressed with zito, he was good. this year he was absolutely terrible. he'll get shelled @ fenway with that curveball. hudson- good pitcher but is a tad overrated imo.. it would take nixon + to get hudson, not worth it imo. nixon is an important part of our lineup, that L bat is huge. as for pedro, that's how the cookie crumbles. it's obvious he wants to stay with this team, he convinced ortiz to stay for 3 years 19.5 mill.... he's friends with ortiz and manny, i don't see him leaving. it's a ploy to get a bit more. 2 years 25-27.5 is the right offer, in our eyes. he's looking for a bit more.. i say give him the 2 years 14 per and a 3rd club option and see how it goes.. not yet though.. not yet. john
  3. you guys REALLY gotta lay off bora$. it's his JOB. tek PAYS BORAS to get him that kind of money. do you think boras just goes out and says i want 50 + for 5 years with a no trade clause? no, he discusses it with tek. tek has the FINAL say, boras WORKS FOR TEK. let tek go, there is no way he deserves a no trade clause, let alone a 5 year deal, especially at 11 a year. i can see 5 years at 6 a year TOPS. trading minky and youk for a catcher is stupid, even for pudge, imo. trade millar, minky will be great with a whole year at fenway. sign mirabelli, we scored more runs than anyone, if we focus on signing pitching we can afford to lose a few runs here and there. nixon will be back healthy, we still have damon, manny and ortiz. those 4 right there are better than some teams lineup. if i was theo: sign mirabelli for a 2 year contract with a club option for 3rd year sign pedro sign pavano sign williamson (if he proves his elbow is healthy) sign someone as stopgap for 1-2 years (pokey isn't that bad).. what are the chances of hanley and or dustin are going to be busts, next to none imo. let tek go, let oc go, we obviously can't afford him. lineup: damon R mueller switch manny R ortiz L mORm R/L nixon L mirabelli R pokey R sp: pedro schilling pavano arroyo wakefield/kim i like that.. if you haven't noticed, i'm all about pitching. john
  4. hmm 2 yeasr 25 mill or 3-4 years 14 mill.. i'de do the same thing.. he allready helped the sox win a ws, there is nothing more anyone could possibly want in baseball.. other than money. john
  5. let me tell you something, pedro signing with the yankees is not for the best of the team. not im my eyes at least. this is his first season in which he had none amazing era. damnit, i can't even grasp this, it sucks so much. nothing worse than seeing your favorite pitcher pitch for an opposing team. but hey, if the yankees are going to offer 3-4 years @ 14 per he'll most likely sign there. if the sox could counter with 3 years 13 per with a club option for a 4th year i honestly think he'll stay with the sox. the 1 mill per year is too little of a difference for him to leave. BUT 3-4 years at 14 mill SO MUCH > than 2 years 25 mill. if he leaves, i don't blame him one bit. john
  6. i won the lottery, some guy at store 24 said so.. john
  7. why would they do that? they have 2 catchers who are very good defensively. they also have a great lineup that grinds down pitchers. they don't need a aging catcher that is a compiling hitter. john
  8. you need to realize that bonds was on that team ALONE. he is the giants offence. it was bad with kent, it is even worse w/o kent. pujols is great, but he also has edmonds AND rollins. they split votes but they also helped him score all those runs etc.. not to mention the pickup of larry walker. w/o bonds the giants would be a .500 team. without pujols the cards would have still been right up there. as for beltre, bonds numbers destroyed his, simple as that. john
  9. manny and ortizzle split votes.. hence why sheffield came in 2nd.. who cares anyways. manny basically won every award out there this season. and papi was the division series mvp.. awards don't mean much anyways. they have the 2004 RING. that > any single player award. they don't care at all. john
  10. boras might be bluffing but it's HIS JOB. hate on tek, not the guy he hired to do his dirty work. john
  11. IGNORANT, how is someone guilty before proven guilty? i hate bonds to death, but i'm not about to charge him with something before i have proof. you're just a dumb hater. jealous that he's putting up numbers better than any player you've ever liked or admired.. john
  12. what makes you think bonds is on the juice? and if he "is" on the juice, what makes you think beltre isn't? bonds has been consistantly hitting very well since his career started and exploded into a monster. beltre hit par with the league then all of a sudden exploded.. john
  13. he was FAR from robbed. barry bonds will and should keep winning mvp's until he can no longer put up those rediculous numbers.. my question is HOW do you dare say beltre was robbed? in 225, that's right TWO HUNDRE TWENTY FIVE less at bats barry bonds only hit THREE less home runs than beltre.. think of it this way, in 225 MORE at bats beltre only hit 3 more home runs. beltre only hit 20 more rbi's than bonds in those 225 at bats. beltre had ZERO triples, bonds who is 40 had THREE. beltre drew 53 walks and struck out 87 times... that's a 1.64 k/bb ratio bonds drew 232 walks and only k'd 41 times that's a .17 k/bb ratio. bonds ave was 28 points higher than beltres and 2nd in the league (i believe) bonds obs was .221 HIGHER than beltres. not to mention his slg % was almost .200 higher and his ops was .400 higher. this is the MVP award. the MOST valuable player. i don't like it when people say that it should be given to someone who is the most valuable to his team. it should be given to the BEST player period. the most valuable player on any team. put bonds on any team and he's immediately the center of attention when it comes to the opposing manager. numbers don't lie, bonds is an absolute MONSTER. without him the giants would be no where. beltre had an amazing year. if there was no barry bonds he would have won it. but to say he was robbed, no way. robbery was pedro in 2002 john
  14. 2 years 25 mill is NOT way too high for pedro.... i think it's just right. john
  15. boras represents the players.. it's his job to get the most money possible. john
  16. kudos to cashman for acknowledging that a-rod slapped the ball.. i think instant replay in baseball should happen, it shouldn't be the umpires job, there should be people in booths that watch every questionable play/call. that way the correct call is made. if it's too close to tell the call on the field stands. john
  17. who the hell wants delgado on the sox? he's one of the last free agents i would want on the sox. too expensive for a 1b that will soon become a DH only type of player. john
  18. i think tek signing with the yankees would be amazing. i get to beat down on all the people here who think tek is the most loyal/greatest player on the damn sox team. yeah, he's great, but he's not this so called leader of the sox, like i have stated before, this is baseball. there are no leaders.. not that i would want to see him sign with the yankees, but at 5 years 50 mill, i would love to see the yankees more crippled than they allready are. even if we sarcrifice tek, which we arne't really since he's asking for such an outrageous offer. john
  19. dougie all the way. millar isn't as bad defensively as everyone says he is, he made some great plays in the playoffs. dougie is just amazing defensively. as for hitting. dougie had a rough year. i think he'll be fine at fenway. especially with the monster. john
  20. i know that it isn't meant literally...... but that's the point, i love the sox more than i hate the yankees, i see no point is chanting that i hate the yankees, i'de much rather chant "lets go red sox" john
  21. why is everyone hating on bora$, in the end he's just doing his job. honestly, i don't like what the guy is doing BUT if gm's didn't give in to him he wouldn't have that kind of power. if NO one in the league will sign tek for 5 years don't you think he'll have to lower his contract.. what's he going to do? play in japan for nothing? in the end it's the players who are greedy, the agent is paid to get the player the most amount of money possible. when there is a salary cap issue do you see the agents striking? no, it's the players. john
  22. yeah, i've never been a fan of yankees suck, i'm more of a red sox rules fan.. john
  23. bruno, the problem is that so many people are too infatuated with hating the yankees. they forget how to love the sox. i don't hate the yankees, i hate a few specific players, some just happen to be on the yankees. i love the sox wayyyy more than i hate the yankees john
  24. stop overrating tek. he's awsome, we all love him but we need to realize that he IS replaceable. i don't buy the whole clubhouse leader etc. baseball is not that type of sport, it's not football, it's not basketball, or hockey, it's different. unless they are willing to negotiate dramatically tek is gone and i won't miss him a bit, not when he's asking to be paid 10 mill per year at 36 and 37 yrs of age. john
  25. see the key to the left of the letter a on your keyboard? HIT IT john
