  1. we're in too deep. forget signing anymore big agents. DO NOT SIGN: tek, renteria, delgado etc. SIGN: polanco, trade/sign for a cheap catcher, trade for burnett, trade for hudsno and sign him long term. put the rest towards ben sheets in 06. john
  2. because people are hypocrites... pavano is a legit pitcher. the yanks made a good signing. even if his numbers worsen by .25 (era waise) he'll be a 3.25 era pitcher. that's most definately worth 10 mill a year. pedro got 14 mill per. if he keeps putting up 3.5+ era then pavano is the legit choice. then again pedro can and probably will be sub 3 at least once in the next 4 years. john
  3. there are no future hof on the market. pedro was the only one. john
  4. theo, please don't overpay for clement, renteria AND tek. john
  5. i think that also played a very large role. pedro should be the #1 guy. just going by senority, it could be diff in the post season but in the reg season he should be #1. been like that for so many years. i see no reason to change unless it is needed (ie post season). but that's just the way life is, you can't get everything you want. it's going to be so sad seeing be favorite pitcher of all time, going to the mets. john p.s.- not done deal yet :-D p.p.s.- it was 3 years 37.5 with 2 mill incentives. i'm saying if it was 3 years 42 mill guranteed that would have gotten it done, the mets would have HAD to counter with 4 years over 52 to get it done.
  6. who youk? i wouldn't, i think he's a great guy. he was more excited about the ws win than half that team. heh. john
  7. something odd came to my mind. i guess i want to share to see what anyone else thinks. the mets, known for making bad decisions might have fooled everyone. it all started with the signing of kris benson. everyone thought he was being way overpaid. yeah, he was, but look at the outcome. the mets caused all pitcher prices to go up. their # 1 target pedro went up to the point that the sox could not afford him. the mets and yankees were probably the only teams that could. the yanks settled with pavano (obviously) and the mets and the sox were the only teams in the running for pedro. i think the signing of benson at such a high price was to setup the singning of pedro.. i mean seriously, in a market where Russ Ortiz got 34 mill, Jaret Wright got 24, Milton might get 24 million, and Carl Pavano gettign 44 mill from the yanks. they are not really overpaying that much for pedro. anyone else? john
  8. f*** no. why would you? it's part of baseball. only an idiot would trash pedro for leaving the sox. you would do the same thing. 14 million dollars dude. FOURTEEN million dollars. that's a lot of money. damn. i'm sad, sorry soxfan, no more argueing from me today. it seems more and more apparent that he's gone. sigh. john
  9. wait wait wait, let me get this straight. because some of you came from BDD i shouldn't think it sucks? i never have until now. the stuff posted about pedro is just stupid. anyone who knows anything about baseball, or has any sense of maturity would not put any of that stuff up. like i said, they've prepared for the worse and were ready to bash pedro once he signed elsewhere. they don't suck, they're idiots. john p.s.- most your sources come from them.. good one, you know where their sources come from? espn and other legit sites. which i use as my sources, why delay the process huh?
  10. and bellhorn his? bellhorn 6'1" 205 youk 6'1" 220 15 lbs.. i'm sure he could lose 15 lbs and be as affective. john
  11. you do realize that pedro had pretty poor run support those years right? it seems as if everytime i see pedro pitch the sox can't score more than 1 run until he's out of the game lol. john
  12. until it's on epsn. i won't believe it. the a-rod trade was "DONE" about 50 times. john
  13. what are you talking about 02-03 was amazing. he had no run support at all last year. lets put it this way. how could you say that pedro will never have a sub 2.8 era ever again? he's only done this for at least 40% of his career. in 02 and 03 he was not touching 95 mph, he still had sub 3 era's. in 03 it was like 2.22 that's friggan crazy, especially in the AL and in such a hitters era. "IF" pedro gets back on tract 14 mill a year is nowhere near overpaying. it's most def worth it. look at it this way, pavano is 10 mill a year, wouldn't you rather pedro (even at 3.5 era) for 4 mill more? he comes with more strikes more pitchers to throw, more experience. who knows how pavano will do in the al, he could post 3.9 era also! don't sign that overrated ss renteria, sign palaco for 4 mill per and spend the 32 million saved ( that's right, THRITY TWO over 4 years, since palaco would sign for 2 yrs, probably) and put 8 of it towards pedro. theo is starting to stink things up, especially with those manny rumors. if i was manny i would be flipping out right about now. yeah, he costs a lot but where would ortiz be w/o manny in front or behind him. john
  14. btw, BDD SUCKS. you see the crap they made about pedro? i bet that's been there for weeks waiting to be posted. utter ******** and no respect for the man who's put up HOF numbers for the past 7 years. BDD blows. i never want them to report anything on pedro if he signs with the sox. john
  15. gammons sucks.. i don't know what you guys are talking about. if you had half a brain and any of the connections he had you would be able to say everything he says. lol john
  16. i don't have a tv at my girlfriends.. i've been ignoring everything she's been saying and hitting refresh on espn nonstop. keep be updated guys.. yez- if we don't overpay for THE most dominationg pitcher for the past 7+ years we shouldn't overpay for a declining catcher who has not been dominating. i don't see why the sox won't overpay for pedro but will overpay for tek. the way i see it is that if you overpay for pedro (most likely it'll take 2 mill per year of overpay) you'll get a very good pitcher (at least) in return. if you overpay tek (he's only worth 6 per MAX imo, gonna need 9 for him) that's overpaying 3 mill per year for tek. what is the upside? someone who hits .280 with 20+ hr and 75+ rbi. too bad only 2 catchers have ever NOT had a sharp decline at teks age. they are: carlton fisk (immortal) pudge nuff said i'm sick of all this hudson and other pitcher talks. we are losing pedro here guys. not some #3 starter. aj burnett has a ton of potential, but hasn't the marlins been waiting 5 years for him to reach this potential allready? pitching the al won't help. hudson is guaranteed for 1 year. he's no pedro either. sigh john
  17. i know you didn't someone else did. i put the quotes together. as for espn. show me where it says it's a done deal.. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/index COULD BE. COULD is the key word. john
  18. i would, s***. who knows about dlowe. he's a friggan headcase. for all we know he could never be a sub 5 era pitcher again. i'm not liking it, especiall with his pricetag. as for winning being more important than a few mill. we're talking about 1 year 14 mill here. that's FOURTEEN MILLION dollars. something that you and i combined will NEVER see in our lives. he could see that in 1 year. i don't blame pedro, i would do it in a heartbeat. it's the best deal for him. john p.s.- it's NOT a done deal yet. nothing has been confirmed. also, who else hates BDD's? anything against the sox and they rip them apart. pedro is all of a sudden some sort of evil devil figure. they are lame. anyone who passes up 14 mill a year and 1 less season is a moron. p.s.s.- it's not confirmed unless it's on ESPN.com saying so. espn > all other sources. if you boo pedro when he comes back you know nothing about pedro and know evel less about baseball. PERIOD
  19. why, if the mets offered you 4 years 50 mill as opposed to 3 years 38 mill you'de probably do it too. you cannot say you won't because you are not in his situation. 12 million dollars is a lot of money. most importantly so is that 1 year. he could be injured and never pitch the same (under 4 era). he would still sit there and be paid for it. it's not a done deal YET. so we'll see. i don't know why people HATE players that sign elsewhere. if another company offered you more money to work for them you would work for them too. that's how it is in real life, not imaginary extremely biased red sox fan life. heh. if the sox's counter offer was 40 mill to 41 mill he probably would have signed right then and there. oh well. i await the news. it'll be tought but the money we save will come in handy when ben sheets is a FA in 06. i hope we don't overpay on renteria and tek. john
  20. i wouldn't trust bdd. unless it's on espn i won't believe it. john
  21. LOL schill. anything under 14 i think pedro is worth. 14 for 4 years is really pushing it. he'll be 37 and i'm not sure if he'll be as good at that age. it's tough to say. the dodgers didn't let him start because they said he was too little to be good. he only become one of the most dominant pitchers to ever play the game. the sox will not match that offer. i COULD see them giving him 4 years 52 mill offer but i honestly doubt they would take that gamble. if i was pedro i'de be a sox, unless the mets can prove they are going to sign some better players and rid of some of those crappy contracts. but the again that's a crapload of money. john
  22. kicks myself in ass.. DUHH it was reported by gammons.. i await real stuff. heh john
  23. people have said it was said via peter gammons on espn radio.. anyone got any links to confirm or reject?? john
  24. or polanco for about 4 mill a year. lol john
