  1. we allready have insurance in the name of dustin perdrodia (sp) lol. no seriously. 10 mill dollars per year for renteria is absolutely ludacris. eve 8 mill per is. john
  2. post with reputable link or i call SHANANIGANS!!!! john
  3. why would the dbacks want to take on the contracts that were given to milton or wright? better yet, why would they want to take on BOTH contracts, because that's essentially what it would probably take to get johnson. john
  4. OOOOOOF! the only way i see this happening is because it's ONLY for 2 years whereas signing someone like rent or OC will have to be at least for 4 years. john
  5. i don't. what are you going to do with dustin when he's ready? which seems to look more and more like a wee bit after hanley. renteria is not worth what he's asking. he's not putting up 8+ mill numbers. check out OC's numbers. pretty close for 4 mill less. zen also pointed out polaco (sp) #'s are very similar for LOADS less. pedro is the best pitcher on the market. as long as he's under 14 mill he's a must sign, sox would be dumb not to sign him. for hudson you'll have to give up arroyo and another spect. arroyo is an awsome #3 or #4, especially at 300k per year. you're giving that up for one year of tim hudson. bad idea. john
  6. that is a good roster. it would be much smarter for us to not sign renteria and tek at the price they are asking. save that 18+ mill for future free agent pitchers. ie sheets. how long do you think schilling can be very good for? and how long can wells be decent for? john
  7. i'm hoping we trade dougie M to the mets for kaz matsui. we'll have a stopgap until hanley is ready and we could move kaz to 2nd where he belongs when hanley comes up. does anyone know kaz' salary. i'm too lazy to find out. john
  8. gotta build for the future bro. if you build for today you become the yankees and you have no future. john
  9. renteria is NOT better at EIGHT million MORE per season. i'll tell you that much. save the money. guess who's a free agent in 06? BEN SHEETS, i think zen pointed that out. how long do you guys think schilling is going to be around for, how about wells. what if arroyo stays around where he is, we'll need a #2 by then. ben sheets will be our man. you gotta build a team that will allow you to build in the future also, spending all your assets and money on today will turn you into the yankees. a team that has a bunch of top notch players with no future. john
  10. or you could sign palacido (sp) for 8mill less or OC for 4 mill less and have the same production. john
  11. it happens bro, the internet should have voice recordings! john
  12. like i said, as long as he posts a sub 3.5 era during his contract years he'll be a good sign. john
  13. no, you read it right. hanley will become a better hitter than renteria. i don't know what the fuss is about renteria. he's a solid ss. one of the top 5 in the game (due to the fact that there really are not that many awsome ss). but his numbers don't blow me away. last year was his career year. his career is plagued with ups and downs. granted he's still very young but there has still be lots of ups and downs. i can easily see hanley being able to hit more than 16 hr's a year and batting in more than 80 rbi's per year (renteria's ave, give a few). that with better defence for league minimun. i'll take that any day and spend the money on extending contracts (when the time comes) of damon, nixon, mueller, ortiz, youk. john p.s.- i didn't say he'll be a better hitter next year. i said in 06.. if you read what i said you will see that i gave hanley 1 year to get used to mlb pitching.
  14. ok, so he'll be ready at 2 years TOPS. lets also give him a year to get aquanted with mlb pitching. so would you rather be paying leauge minimum for hanley who will hit (most likely) better and play better D or would you rather be paying 10 mill a season for rent? john
  15. which is just stupid. his OPS last year was under .750. no way worth 11 mill a year. i'm hating this move more and more. paying big bucks for renteria is like playing for a name. cabrera is just as good as rent for 4 mill less. plus, i see no reason to HAVE to spend the money that isn't being used on pavano. hell, save it. give free t-shirts to sox fans. damn. no need to block up hanley's spot. this will the the first bad decision theo has made if he signs renteria. he will be almost untradable in 2 years unless the sox eats up part of his contract. i'm sure he'll be back heavy too. john
  16. hahaha, so true. as for rent.. WE HAVE NOT signed him yet.. so lets not get too stressed about this. john
  17. hahahahahahhahahahahaha, i love that new avatar crespo. as for pavano, i think he'll be on tract to be a decent pitcher. i don't think he'll ever be sub 3 era. but i think he'll be a 3-3.5 era pitcher for most of the rest of his career. i think he got what he deserved if he can stay below the 3.5 era range. john
  18. don't you just want to push gammons and see if he falls over and dies? i know i do. lol john
  19. i'm not sure if we can get a non biased kelley shoppach review from zen. he has such a shoppach fetish :-) john
  20. take everything you hear from gammons with a grain of salt. the guy bugs me. yeah he's a sox fan but he's so god damn biased towards the sox on espn, it's redonKulous. as for when i said that signing rent is stupid. it's stupid if we sign rent just so we could use hanley as trade bait. i'm going to cry when hanley is hitting 25+ hr's, 95 + rbi's and batting .325 with GG defence for leauge minimum. john
  21. maybe he spends hours upon hours because he's slow at picking things up  lol, just kidding. i look up to his work ethic, but most catchers spend a lot of time with their sp's. mirabelli spends just as much time with them than tek does during practices. if he were to have the starting role i'm sure he would put a ton of effort into videos of the opponents. as for "clubhouse leader". i think that's an overrated position in baseball. baseball is not a sport where you can pump guys up like football and basketball and cause them to run harder etc. baseball is pure mechanical skill. you can't pump up a guy and have him hit a baseball better. that just doesn't happen. not to my knowledge at least. john
  22. worst idea ever. why would you want johnson. a 40+ year old pitcher for 2 years. he's also making over 15 mill a year. if theo made that trade it would take away from everything he's done allready. worst trade ever. you would have to include bronson arroyo, who's making friggan 300k a year and is only going to get better. not to mention a friggan prospect by the name of hanley ram. why would we do that. it makes no sense whatsoever. yay, we have have a killer lineup for 2 whole years. and pay up the rear in salary taxes (not sure what the term is for the yankees, lol). don't sign rent. it's stupid. john
  23. longest 15 mins of my life right here man. lol no doubt, getting along > than argueing. and PLEASE PLEASE sign pedro. i'de really hate for my all time fav pitcher to be elsewhere. as for wells. those numbers are pretty sexy for a #3 guy. (assuming we sign pedro). personally i think he'll do well. but i think he'll get eaten alive by the monster. his home road stats are going to be poor imo. john
  24. damnit, don't let off so easy man. minus the insults we were having a friggan kick ass debate. pedro is the man, but he can be such a bitch sometimes. i'm not a fan of some of the things he does, but the media really blows it out of proportion. john
  25. lol. i feel like i'm pressuring you to believe what i believe. i want to convince you that tek is on the decline with facts. i still don't think i have done a good job yet. the stats i have provided are iffy. it has been pointed out that some of his numbers have increased in the past 3 seasons. i want to show/prove that it is because of the amount of poor pitchers he has faced compared to the good pitchers. i think one way is to show how the pitchers in the al east have gotten worse and worse. the yankees/baltimore/toronto/tampa have all had worse pitching this year than they have had last year i believe. maybe zen can help me out with this one. john
