  2. orioles management also have no idea what's going on. they signed 3 huge bats during the offseason, what do they have to show for it? .500 record. if they signed 3 pitchers they would have been contenders. (good pitchers that is) javy lopez also had 35+ hr's the year before he was signed. john
  3. there are so many boston fans that hate clemens... it's not even funny. he's one of the greatest pitchers to ever pitch and people hate him. it's retarted. sox let him go and he signed with the blue jays, then he was TRADED to the yankees. i don't think he had a no trade clause in his contract. as for clemens winning the cy young, that's a huge negative, it should have went to randy johnson, hands down. john
  4. 5 year 50 million LOL. no one is going to offer an aging catch that kind of money. see you later tek, nice knowing ya. john
  5. since when do we have terrible pitching? def not this year. i wouldn't consider pedro and lowe to be worse than pavano and radke, maybe just this year their numbers were not as good. john
  6. i wasn't dissing you, i was basically poking fun at the irony. randy johnsons era was nowhere near 2.22. pedro only had 14 wins last season. point proven :-D john
  7. i don't understand why these proclaimed sports writers talk about the sox aquiring more offence. isn't #1 in runs scored 2 years in a row enough hitting? nubs. john
  8. excuse me? the red sox offence helping them. do you not recall 2003? you know, the year the red sox offensively destroyed records? pedro also had a 2.22 era that year, he only had 14 wins.. don't tell me that any pitcher can have a better chance with the sox offence. they score 20 runs one game and zero on others. hence why their average is so high. they play teams with scrub pitching too often. this year tampa, orioles, toronto and even the yankees had subpar pitching. john
  9. welcome, prior is a stud, i saw his first game in the majors, right then and there i knew he was going to be awsome. unfortuantely he gets hurt too much, so far at least, i hear a lot of people say that dusty works him too hard, i'm not sure. i don't follow enough. input would be great. i don't know how you cubbies don't destroy everyone, great lineup, incredible pitching staff.. it's tough being a cubs fan.. i would know, i'm a sox fan :-D. john
  10. i take back when i said his 3.06 year doesn't count, it does, what i'm saying is that with a full 30+ games it could be worse, or better. john
  11. you guys are kidding me right? you guys make it sound like pavano and radke are the best pitchers we've seen during free agency in the past few years. how is it a win win situation when you lose pedro? it's not, it's a situation where you lose, unless he's asking for 14+ mill year. that's my point though, radke or pavano will NOT make up for pedro. pavano has had ONE year when his era was 3.0 or under, wait, his era has NEVER been under 3. this was his lowest at 3. his 3.06 year doesn't count because he only played 15 games. his career era is 4.21. radke hasn't seen a year under 3.48, that's this year. pavano's career high k's was this year at 130 something.. radke was 174 SEVEN years ago. pedro struck out 227. of course radke will be cheaper but pavano will barely be cheaper than pedro. pedro schilling or if you prefer, schilling pedro is the best 1,2 punch in the majors. there is no doubt about it. no matter how you see it losing pedro is a down grade, no one knows how pavano will do in a hitters park such as fenway. priority # 1 is pedro in my mind. i've said it time and time again. john
  12. shutup yez, you act like you're the god damn admin, i think you should eat s*** you jackass. you are the biggest hypocrite, you force your opinions on everyone all the time. you stupid admin wanna be. john
  13. nixon for zito is a terrible trade.. who knows if zito will ever be the same. his curveball comes with a huge ? nixon for hudson is more respectable. john
  14. wow, people amaze me. so in the past 8 years pedro's era is an average of only what 2.6 tops.. TWO POINT SIX. he had one bad year and you're all writing him off. that's what they said about clemens too. he stayed healthy all year this year, was pushing 97 mph against the angels. how is he not worth 10 mill? he's one of the top 10 pitchers in the league and on any given night can be the BEST there ever was. 25 mill for 2 years is not enough, that's not what he's looking for. if you give him 3 years at 36 that's much more respectable.. with a 4th year club option. 3 years is just not enough for pedro, unless it's for crazy money. john
  15. i-rod can and usually hits for more power than tek, i-rod hits for a better average than tek- i-rod has a much stronger arm than tek, i-rod has had 10 consec gold gloves, i-rod can steal bases when needed, i-rod is an obvious leader (not saying tek isn't).. he brought the detroit team from dead last to almost .500 team. not bad in 1 year. i-rod > tek in everyway possible on paper with the exception of fpct behind the plate. tek is awsome, but 10 mill a year is too much, 9 mill is too much. 8 is acceptable if it isn't long term. john
  16. 45 for 5 years is too big of a contract to give a catcher of his age.. i wouldn't give tek more than 3 years. if he wanted 5 years i wouldn't pay over 7 a year. john
  17. you act as if none of us watch baseball and none of us know anything about baseball. let me tell you something buddy, i watch baseball, i read baseball, i follow baseball, i breath, eat sleep baseball. i'm not saying that you don't know anything, just don't make it seem like we don't know anything, don't just randomly join and forum and disrespect everyone. no one is going to take you seriously. john p.s.- k-rod = my number 1 pick for closer next season. if you have EVER seen him pitch you would consider him a top 3 closer (yes, i know he's not a closer)
  18. that explains everything.... john
  19. classy name... john
  20. do i think the yankees can do all that? umm.. yes.. do i think they will? no. if they did that it would push their team payroll upwards of 210 + million.. that's just rediculous. john
  21. they can go ahead and sign nomar.. they'll have a starting infield payroll of 80+ million if giambi plays.. the d-backs want posada and a young pitcher. if the yankees do posada and vazquez for RJ they'll go after tek. if they offer tek enough money he'll sign with the yankees, no doubt about it, his agent is bora$$. just imagine: giambi nomar jeter a-rod tek RJ that's their opening infield game 2, mussina will start game 1. that infields payroll is aprox: 90+ million dollars.. that's just crazy. john
  22. why? he's had one good year. i want to see him do that again before i commit 12+ mill into him. plus we have a former batting champ that plays the hot corner decently well. we don't need another bat, we only scored more runs than anyone this season. pitching pitching pitching.. period. john
  23. word is that there will be a nixon hudson trade.... as much as i hate to see it happen the trade will help us more than it will hurt us. we didn't have nixon in the lineup almost all year and did well w/o him. adding hudson into your rotation NEVER hurts.. such a bittersweet situation.. john
  24. so you're basing your opinions that trot nixon is overrated because of a few morons on the radio? good one. base your opinion on facts. trot nixon is probably one of the MOST underrated right fielders in all of baseball. in 03 he had almost 30 hr's, almost 100 rbi's and over .300 avg. he was also top 5 (i believe) in obp. no doubt there are better right fielders, you also need to realize that you were listening to a LOCAL radio. the fans in boston love trot, of course they are biased. they praise him because he's good and we love him, not because they think he's the best right fielder ever. on the yankees singnings: it's possible that they would sign v-tek, they are looking to het RJ. the backs want posada and a pitcher, it's possible that they will trade posada and vazquez for RJ and sign tek, although i just can't see tek signing with the yankees. nomar would and could sign with the yankees, just to stick it to boston. if they offer him enough he'll do it. talk about all TOTAL all star infield.. that's just rediculous and uncalled for. but most likely they will not get rj because they would not sign tek and nomar will most likely play short for for the dogers or angels or cubs. john
  25. are YOU looking at his numbers? how can you deny that those numbers are not good? congrats. i've been a sox fan for 14 years. i don't care if you've been a fan longer, that's almost 70% of my life. good enough for me. for a guy who's been a fan for over 20 yrs you don't know much about baseball. john
