I don't think they're weak more that they are all close to the same talent level. There is 1 clearly dominant team in Duke and many other 2nd tier teams who have all beaten each other up (UNC, BC, Maryland, NC State). Georgia Tech and Wake are the only 2 usual powerhouses in the conference who are having weak years and teams like Miami and Virginia have picked up the slack and gotten some quality wins.

With the way Brodeur has led the Devils out of nowhere and to become one of the elite teams in the East (they're record does not show it but by the way they have played lately they have proved they are) you have to go with the hot hand and one who has experience. Luongo's never even played in the playoffs. He's not having one of his best years and Brodeur has proven his greatness time and time again.

Going undefeated in the ACC is no easy feat. I don't think it has anything to do with the schedule, it's because they're a damn good team.

David Ortiz was friggin waived by the Minnesota Twins. Great hitters can come out of nowhere all the time.

I don't know how you can put Showalter in that class if he hasn't even won a World Series. Sure he's been fired twice before a team has won the Series but him personally has not won it yet. He also has kind of underacheived with that team in Texas. Granted they don't have the best pitching staff but I think if he was that good of a manager he could have finished better than they have the last couple of years. -
They won't make the playoffs I don't think you need to worry about that. But if I were a Celtics fan I would not openly root for them to lose. This team as constructed right now and the uncertainties of the injuries to Perkins and Jefferson and already being 4.5 games out of a playoff spot has little to no chance of making the playoffs.

Jalen Rose not being able to inbound the ball has nothing to do with the team sucking. Jalen's been on the team for like a week so you can't really blame him for the Knicks' sucktitude yet.

I'm not going to even respond to that question, it is that ludicrous. Who would ever want to win a game.

Why would the players tank? It makes no sense for them. None of their jobs with the team are secure. Why would they lose on purpose to get a draft pick for next year when it's possible that they may never even play with the drafted player if they get traded or sign somewhere else. Especially with how quick some players can show potential and can be out of the league in 2 years. It also hurts the psyche or young players. Players tanking to get draft picks is one of the stupidest ideas in sports today.

I like that idea as well. As I've said they do that on a Yankee board and there's just a permanent chat room that they could go in all the time. Like for instance we could designate Chat385238903098398039 as the "official talksox room" and people could go in there all the time and if they wrote down the number, they wouldn't have to be invited every time but this would take away from game thread discussion.

Well we do have the gamethreads which are very active when a game is going on. I know this has been suggested by a few members here but the decision is ultimately yeszirs. I for one wouldn't mind it. But I think a lot of people here have conversations via AIM but I don't want it to take away from board discussion.

I think they did that long ago. I don't have any sources on this but I have a gut feeling that all this Manny to the Angels crap is fabricated just to make Manny feel like they attempted to trade him when now there's just no takers.

Yeah I went to the game last night. I'm not a Celtics fan in fact I consider myself to be Anti-Celtics. So I was pretty bored last night as I was at least hoping to see a good basketball game but it was anything but. Portland just looked pathetic especially in the 3rd quarter. I think my biggest ovations were for Scalabrine (which drew the ire of the crowd around me) and for Ha-Seung Jin (a big 7 foot guy) who we were rooting for the Blazers to put in the whole time. It was good to see some future stars in Green and Webster but overall I'm happy I didn't waste 38 bucks on the game and got the tickets for free.
