If you have the need to put something on someones wrist take some handcuffs and put them on tony's francona's wrist and chain him to the bed post in his hotel so he cant come to the ballpark. I agree with els...pedro has always used the media to set-up various positions prior to negotiations, he may not be the old pedro but if we ever could get manager that could handle him inteligently there is no reason not to thnik he coiuld still be among the best picthers in the league. thank the Lord, Lowe has seen his last game in a redsox uniform, and I cant say I am sorry to see him to go. He has been a headache since before he was reliever. I think he has a pretty good sinker when he's on, but he has proven time and time again that he simply doesnt have the temperment to be a really good major league pitcher. I cant say I am upset by the fact that with every s***** inning he has given us over the last month, he probably loses another million off his next contract. I dont think he has learned one from his mistakes. It isnt like that stupid pedro decison was the first time that happend. The entrie season has been like that. He is always the last one to know. I think pedro is way too proud to have something like this become p[art of his legacy. He is bright guy. I think his arm is tried. I think he has mis used this seaosn. I think its pretty easy to see Schilling gets the nod. I would think pedro is embarassed more than anything. Last night he just sucked. I cant believe pedro would tank consciously or not. Obviously, we are limping into the playoffds, but I guess who isnt. Our big problem stems from having the worst manager in baseball. He has no clue what to do or when to do it. It should be pretty obvious why our starting pitching is unraveling now. Why Pedro looks awfu and why lowe stinks, and why wakefield has one decent start for september...Because Francona has over used them. While it sounds great to say you've used the same 5 guys starting all year. Big f***ing whoop. Now when we need them most they've ppitched too many innings. Pedro for years hasnt pitched a whole season...they used to keep his pitch count down to about a 100 a game. Not so any more. After it was clear he stunk last night why would leave him any longer than say 2 or 3 innings. Perfect example of stupid managing. Why would you bring Kim in--you're only down by a couple the yankees could have split there was no way of knowing at that point, but again Francona makes the wrong move. Why is lowe even still pitching.. WE have a dangerously fatigued staff, a clown and idiot managing and the playoffs around the corner... go sox!

millar is clutch. Lowe should be left off the roster. He is so bad it isnt funny, ther is nt even a sign of anything good in any of last 3 or 4 outings. I say leave him off the roster and let him go re-sign elsewhere He's dead to me.

OKay, I say he's through with this team. He cant beat the rays, he cant beat the yanks, and I say its bullpen...then new team. Tony has given him way too many chances, and coddled him to the point of making me sick. The guy just sucks, and I dont care about his ERA or what is earned or unearned, he just is a s***** pitcher and should have no role in thepsost season. He has done nothing to indicate a turnaround and I say its time to put him in the bullpen and forget about him.

I agree els, but luckily most of this comes down to business as usual. Tony is way too stupid to do anything different , and some of our pitchers are way too bad to really make this too complitated. Lowe by tanking it last night really put the hurt on the buillpen--but I noticed he didnt use laskanic or timlin so if he plays his cards just right like that we'll be fine. And the other point is that francone's impact on the team is so incosequential, it doesnt matter. This team runs itself and they are playing such limited competition that any line-up can be explosive. So my point is that no matter francona does or doesnt do, we can take the yankees--beacuse all we can do is keep winnnig and we have the horses to do that no matter what Tony is trying to do with the pitchers.

you're absolutely right. Lowe has ot pitch well for a lot of reasons. Plus, the O's always give us fits and they will make us use our bullpen a lot. I think well see quite a bitof Terry Adams.... The one good thing is the Jays are pesky for the yankees. Plus, the jays are in a battle for aldsy and I would like to think will play tje yanks hard to avoid a cellar finish

he was a s***** closer one year, but I thought he led the league in saves the year before. I dont know what they shoud do with Derek. If he pitches well tonight it will guarantee him a start. If he doesnt I think Dumbass will start him anyway...

I agree his goal seems to be resting people and not winnning, but we are so deep in spite of his inability to ever make the right move, we win...Like you say "granted the score was 6-2", and the fact that McCarty had a homer. So as much as Francona tries hard, and i mean very hards to look like idiot most of the itme the players rise above his ineptitude.

els, you always have insightful posts and I like reading them, but there is no way Gabe gets left off no way. Youkillis, or pokey are easliy expendable. Youk hasnt been hitting and pokey cant hit. I think Youk should be the one left off..Pokey can be used defensively, plus if Bill goes down Bells can play third and pokey at second. Youk has helped but Gabe is veteran, he can run and he play right, and he is clutch at times at the plate. I think Youk has been scuffling, he caN only play third and he he aint swift. I think Leskanic should be in...Of course, personally I dont think Embree should be allowed to buy a ticket for the games much less be on the roster, but I know Francoma likes him, but if I had to make a choice today I would take leskanic over williamson.

I was thinking that Francona would do that also, anf forget about the yankees in the procees. PLay everyone.... but last night's lineup seemed pretty good. Just one or two regulars sat out. Hopefully he'll play it to win and play it smart, though, that would be rather late in season to do something so out of charactaer like be smart. However, our lineup is so deep that guys like MCarty can still win...he hit a homer last night...so against the rays and the O's we probably dont lose too much either way...Personally, I would keep pushing to try and at least keep winning as much as possible and that means not using Kim unless, it's like 3000-3, that means not leaving guys to get shelled, and not trying some dope on the mound in a tough situation "to get experience" I noticed dumbass took bronson out in the 7th I think after one hit...maybe he has finally learned his lesson!

my proverbial fingers are crossed that this dumbass doesnt mess the team up over the next week or so--he's just the type to start resting everyone--get us slaughtered by inferior teams and suck any momentum out of our sails. Line-up juggling, stupid moves.... I hope not but why should now be different. Mark my words the stupidity we've seen all season will be magnified now that games mean something and then in the playoffs, when actual managing may be necessary we have Francona, pity the players and fans.
