  1. Brown in the hall of fame, you have got to be smoking a huge crack pipe to suggest that. The only way that dick gets to the hall of fame is if he takes his kids to see it. The rest of your post makes some sense but I dont mean to be critical but the part about Brown, has to be one of the ost absurd things I ever seen on here-ever! That being said, I am upset about Gabe too. I read that he agonized over this decision, but inseeing that the starting outfield is set and signed through 2005-I guess he saw this as opportuntity to play full time, earn some yen while he is still in his prime. I wish him and thank him for everything. The guy was gritty, had a ton of heart, was a key part of the team. Gave it his all--filled in when Nixon was hurt. I loved that guy! I would rather have guys like Kapler any day of the week than over paid, greedy *******s like pedro-regradless of how well he can pitch. Sinara, Gabe and good luck!!!!
  2. I would never punch Varitek in the face--thats for sure. Slow down...Pedro is one to talk about respect, and he also said he wouldnt go to the yankees. He is constantly whining about his contract, and about the writers,e tc. He was a great pitcher in his prime, now as he starts to slow down he's damn good but not what he was. That said I dont think it's realistic to separate players and their contracts from the scheme of things. Some guys better deals through aggressive agents, etc...some just have a great year and parley it into gold. But in this case-I think the redsox made a great statement and di show pedro a lot of repsect by offering the same amoutn of money as thier No#1 pitcher.. I have never heard Varitek complain about his contract in the papers, I have never seen or heard about Varitek wanting to go to the Dominican during the season, etc... PLus, Varitek never said he wouldnt play for the yankees and he certainly never went ot meet with them. I dont begrudge a guy trying to make as much as he can, and I wish pedro lots of luck...he's mid 3 ERA, was avctully more like 3.60 and he doesnt last more than 100 pitches. He's career is great, again, but he is oging down the hil--and stilwants more money-fine I say but dont play games with the sox--and the yankees ofr that matter...
  3. I checked on our boy crespo! I was stunned to find that he has a three year deal and makes about $310,000 a year... Thats about $75,000 a hit!!! I guess it off to pawtucket for Cesar hopefully we wont see him EVER again!
  4. This article ran in today's new york Post,-- Poor pedro, he's not getting respect from the fans...boo-hoo...or the from the newspapers...awwwww f*** him, let him go--greedy bastard.. He being a greedy f***, has no idea how good he had it here. Theis might be the only franchise that would put up with his s*** during the season.... Tootle -loo... Have fun in new york.... The cover of the sports section had picture of pedro holding a pitch fork with horns on his head, and it said "To Hell With Him" And I couldnt agree more....!!! YANK FANS SAY 'NO!' TO PEDRO By MIKE FORDE Do you want to see Pedro in pinstripes? Vote now! November 18, 2004 -- The people have spoken, and nearly three out of four want the Yankees to avoid adopting a Red-headed stepchild, Pedro Martinez. According to yesterday's nypost.com Internet poll, 72.3 percent of the 5,358 fans who voted do not want the Red Sox righty in pinstripes. Said e-mailer Chris Woodard, "Do not sign Pedro Martinez! It is a horrible idea for several reasons. It will destroy team chemistry. Pedro will be a cancer to this team. He is the opposite of what a Yankee should be. Even if you make him shave his head, ban midgets from the clubhouse, and keep him away from saying dumb things in the media, he will still be a crazy guy who everyone hates." Martinez, a free agent, met with George Steinbrenner and other Yankees brass in Tampa on Tuesday afternoon, and the get-together spurred rampant talk of the hated headhunter joining the Yankees' starting rotation. After the Red Sox's World Series victory, Martinez vowed he would return to Boston to defend their first championship in 86 years. Tuesday's breaking of bread seemed to be a breach of that promise. Most Yankees fans hope the only discussion Steinbrenner and Martinez had was about the Florida weather. "If you ever disgrace our pinstripes by allowing that bum Pedro to wear them, I, along with many of my other die-hard Yankees fans, will disown the Yankees," reader John Lynch said. "I don't care how desperate we may be for pitching. We do not need him on our team." Martinez reportedly wants a three- or four-year deal, but the Yankees are dangling only a two-year contract with an option for a third year. Handing over buckets of money isn't the issue for Yankees fans. Most are more concerned with how petulant Pedro will fit into the calm Yankees clubhouse. And how, more specifically, Jorge Posada will welcome his least-favorite person. "No way do we need that shower-cap wearing freak in New York," said message board poster "mafew." "The wins wouldn't be worth having to look at his greasy head shaking 'No' at Posada." There is a minority of fans that remembers how Kevin Brown imploded in Game 7 of the ALCS. Or how Orlando Hernandez waited for his right arm to rise from the dead. Or how Javier Vazquez is still recovering from whiplash after Johnny Damon's grand slam. "Their pitching was horrendous last year," diner Joe Mahoney said at Mickey Mantle's restaurant in midtown. "Joe Torre will make him fit in that clubhouse. He's like a psychic with his players. I don't know how he does it." Posada, asked of a possible Martinez signing, said he could co-exist with the pitcher who one time threatened to bean the Yankees catcher. That prompted one Yankees fan, Frank Negron of The Bronx, to say, "If Posada can welcome him with open arms, so can everyone else."
  5. Now after reading that pedro met with theo, et al, after his little date with georgie, I think Pedro is a bigger ******* than I did yesterday. Talk about playing both sides against the middle. If I were the sox--I would sit down at that meeting listen to his ********, sit quietly while he reviewed the yankees offer and then look him right in the eye and say: Pedro, you helped us win the series and f*** you very much--adios! What a dick, he certainly doesnt deserve more than Schilling, that is an insult--to Curt...
  6. In some ways ..yes. However, he spent a lot of time whining about respect etc, I think the contract they offered him showed a lot of respect. I suppose a side of me still believes in team loyalty but I guess these days it is all about money. All I know is the red sox under this management show a lot of class--and it appears to me they do right by the players. Thats all we c an ask for. But I still think pedro is an ******* for doing this--and I hope he leaves now, I will never look at him the same way. He take his gerri-curls and his spoiled attitude to new York, he'll be miserable and they will eat him alive. He thought the globe was tough on him, just wait until he misses a team photo in new york! Ha!
  7. ( "I promise, I'm not going to the Yankees. I want to stay right here."-- 10.29 Pedro Martinez to The Boston Globe's Stan Grossfeld I guess he lied. Hard to believe.
  8. Certainly winning the series has transformed francona into a genius from the chump he was earlier in the season, but how in the wide wide world of sports could they re-hire sveum. wendall kim was better and that aint saying very much..Dale almost got DO injured is right he almost got him killed actually --among others... My God, winning has blinded a lot of poeple.... ON the other hand... oh well, if aint broke....and well, we did win with the worst third base coach and manager in baseball so why not bring 'em back for more fun. congrats dale--you are indeed one lucky MF.
  9. I am afraid if this unravels--as much as I cant stand boras---the villian is Varitek.. well, not the villian, but he can say work it with the sox...and amazingly it would. f*** these guys are greedy-- I am getting pissed at pedro too.that offer was way too high and still he has to shop himself around. All this f***ing "latino" pride s***...f*** him...scrawny f*** (I dont mean that but it felt good) He is either whining to the media about all the respect he deserves, he says he wants to stay, he says this he says that- Meanwhile the redsox have shown their respect by offering him a great contract--equal to schilling..come on Pedro---show the team and the fans some of your famous respect and sign the f***ing contract!
  10. true, but I love tek, and its easier to balme Boras-if you must know the truth. I am hoping this all grandstanding and little negotiating ploys at work here. Tek in pinstripes is just too hard to imagine. He'd have to be in the same locker room as that homo A-Rod-less and that would be worth passing up a million or two here or there-kust to avoid.
  11. doug all the way.
  12. I agree with noon. It's hands down. Dont forget that Millar complained too. they all do and basically thats okay. Millar is a defensive liability plain and simple, he is a good guy to have in the clubhouse, but these days that's not enough. I say go Mink and get rif of millar. delgado is a raging ******* and doubt theo would bring him into this clubhouse.
  13. what I want to know is who vacations in India and why...Travelling there maybe..but vacation...?
  14. I think we can all agree that Boras-shole is a bad guy, a greedy guy. Personally, I love Douigie, but at his age I dont think he can be an every day guy I think the shoppach solution doesnt really do it either. Sandy Martinez is a stiff. So I would think the answer would be to go out and get someone. I think before things get harsh they ouutta tell Bor******* to shove it and move on. I am sick and tired og agents running the show. I am disappointed in Tek for letting this guy f*** tthings up so much. Ads much as we all love Tek, he could veto anything the agent does. It's always surprising just how greedy these guys can be...just when you think the guy is a loyal good guy, boom something like this brings you back to reality. Ortiz is more of a God because he genuinely wanted to stay.
  15. scott boras is a whore and I am so f***ing scared he will price varitek out of our range...sad thing is probably would get 5 years from someone else.. 5 years no trade for a catcher his age.sheeesh.. I forget how old fisk was when we lost him, though, and he lasted forever...so maybe this time we bite the bullet and give him 3 with an option for 4 or 4 with an option for 5.. When Boras grabs you by the balls you cant shake him unless you cough up the dough.
  16. it supposedly has potential for curing that disease and others. But not proven yet, which is of course why they should restrain people from using it for research. Because at this rate the answer to your question will be no.. Can you imagine someon saying they would vote for bush becasue schilling endorsed him. I say I dont give a f*** if he votes for Bucky Dent for president as long he pitches well and gets healthy. He's entitled to say what he wants, vote for who he wants, use his celebrity to push whatever he wants. Clearly, he's a misguided moron, but if he keeps pitching like he did, I'll love him as a pitcher as much or more than I do now.
  17. he'd probably bobble those balls too.
  18. yeah, but he's a pretty good one too, and when he's healthy I think he'll have a break out year next year.. I just saw this on ben maller: All-star shortstop Nomar Garciaparra has told friends he would be open to a position change to either second base or third, which could open the way for the Yankees to pursue the free agent as a second baseman. The Yankees' top offseason priority is improving their starting pitching, but if they signed Garciaparra to play second, they would have all of the famed "three shortstops" playing in the same infield - Garciaparra at second, Alex Rodriguez at third and Derek Jeter, who won his first Gold Glove yesterday, at short. "Obviously, his preference is short, but he's open to third or second," a friend of Garciaparra's said. "He could play either one and he'd be happy to play either one. He's comfortable playing any of those positions. My god, I odnt know what to make of that?
  19. trot in right is a no brainer. Period. I am worrried about the signings, though... I heard nomar might go the yankees, Tek , too... This is going to be wild off season. I dont know about you guys, but all this s*** about what we do now that we won,. I say the best thing is too win again... How can anyone question Trot. I think he is underated actually.
  20. i think he reached 95 right after the three hits. I think he got pissed off. One thing I'll say for petey is that he ahs a lot of pride. I bet he has his A gamre tonight, the world series... Come on, Petey should be spectacular.
  21. i saw this in the Globe today... Even though David Ortiz has started only two games at first base in the last three months, he will play the position when the Red Sox face the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in Games 3, 4, and 5 (if necessary) of the World Series. The way the Sox see it, they have no choice but to go with Ortiz, their least skilled defensive first baseman but their postseason hitting star. Millar will sit. that's our answer.
  22. wow, I am in a good mood. What made that play cheap and classless, wasnt the play so much as when A-Dick was standing on second complainging and whining about being called out... "Who me?" "why".. I have coached little league and I have never seen anything as girlie man as that. Yeah he didnt try and hit Bronson over the head with a chair or climb up in the Book Depository and shoot at some one but I dont care what the other boards say..that was the move of a scared, desparate, and classless chump. Little Leaguers wouldnt even do that. It goes against everything any one ever teaches about baseball. I wonder if anyone has ever tried to do that, in my opinon-it was among the stupider and weaker moves I ever seen in my life. It shows the true colors under the image. And it aint pretty
  23. whats even more amazing is that he pitched last night on 2 days rest.
  24. okay, I'm still a little croggy and still basking in the joy of beating the yanks, but I have had a nagging question roaming around my noggin for awhile. I was reprimanded by so nameless friend of Talksox for bringing this up before we demolished the yankees, but it is safe now. The national league games with no DH are going to mean DO plays first? Millar sits I guess-is this the only option or am I missing something?
  25. i think your right, but with so many pitch hitters and stuff like that in the NL one could make a case for bringing youk back.
