  1. Brandon McCarthy will be an good pitcher some day, but he doesn't appear to be quite ready, which will hold that deal back. Contreras is 35 years old which also hurts, and the Marlins can't make up their mind if they want him or don't. I think the Marlins should take the White Sox deal, because they might also offer Brian Anderson a CF prospect for the White Sox, (reminds me of a righthanded Jim Edmonds), and the fact that White Sox ownership has given Kenny Williams (White Sox GM) the green light to go get Burnett.
  2. I agree with you, and on what you said about the Orioles being retarded. They don't deserve to win, they had the perfect deal sitting on the table, and they turned it down. If you think about it Lowell is as bad is Larry Bigbie is, so it wouldn't hurt their offense as much as it would greatly boost their pitching staff.
  3. Throw him right back out there again, he needs to work that ankle out. What we should do is go with a pitch count in each start. Start with 60, then 75, then 90, and then turn him loose.
  4. Not really, Nevin gets out of San Diego, which might help his anemic power numbers. Ponson's has the highest ERA of any starter. It also allows the Padres to move Eaton into the bullpen.
  5. If the Red Sox have to give up one of the "Big six" I don't want to see it happen.
  6. Peter Gammons reported yesterday (WEEI Radio) , that the Red Sox would prefer to trade Wade Miller rather then Bronson Arroyo, and also that the Red Sox wouldn't need a 72 HR window to negotiate with Burnett. Gammons also said that Burnett wants to come to Boston.
  7. They might give Hayden Penn a chance in the big leagues full time.
  8. Thoughts? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2114944
  9. He's in the bullpen, because he can't start right now. But he will be our best starter, Wells is right now. EDIT* http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/07/23/schilling_ready_to_start_right_now/ Mr. Schill is ready to go.
  10. Rate your top ten prospects for the Red Sox, in your opinion. Mine are: 1. Jon Lester SP, Portland 2. Jon Papelbon SP, Pawtucket 3. Dustin Pedoria 2B, Pawtucket 4. Hanley Ramriez SS, Portland 5. Anibal Sanchez SP, Portland 6. Manny Delcramen RP, Pawtucket 7. Brandon Moss OF, Portland 8. Kelly Shoppach C, Pawtucket 9. Abe Alvarez SP, Pawtucket 10. Jacoby Ellsbury CF, Lowell I'd say our first 6 are untouchable.
  11. The best place he could have winded up in, would have been Toronto.
  12. Oh defiantly not, I much prefer to have Wells pitch in Game 7, I was just saying that Clement isn't a choke artist.
  13. He was struggling, because he got hit on the wrist.
  14. Ellsbury went 1-5 with 2 strikeouts last night and had a stolen base. Season Line: .257/.409/.400/.809 (8/5 K/BB Ratio) 1 HR 2 XBH's 9 SB
  15. Lowrie is off to a hot start in Lowell, and might be on his way to Greenville. Season Line: .341/.400/.500/.900 (5/8 BB/K Ratio) 5 XBH's 1 HR 13 RBI's
  16. Clement did win Game 3 of the NLCS, though.
  17. If that were the case, they should have made it Nashville, but the problem is nobody still cares about Hockey. David Beckman could play over here, and no one would watch soccer still.
  18. A.J Burnett's stuff is better then Oswalt's. Oswalt is a better pitcher, but Burnett has better stuff.
  19. No, absoulety not.
  20. Comes down between Pittsburgh and Anaheim Not that anyone cares....
  21. Can we talk about Jacoby Ellsbury, I don't mean to sound like an ******* but you guys can AIM to talk about that.
  22. I'm throwing out the Oakland start because he was clearly not ready when he came of the DL. Wells didn't throw all that bad against Toronto after the HR's, he retired 11 in a row after that.
  23. Francona is the manager of the year, runner up to Ozzie Guillen. You name any other manager you can get this team into 1st place with no bullpen, and having to go through what he does everyday (Manny, Damon, Millar)
  24. If you throw out the Oakland start, Wells' era is a high 3.
  25. Clement's been good all season? He's ERA is about 7.5 this month.
