  4. OK, now it's the Top of the 4th.
  5. Haha, I love it when I'm wrong.
  6. "Turn him loose" Score another point for McCarver. CLUTCH TUFF GRIT!
  7. Wow. Anyone see B.J. Ryan completely melt down in Toronto? Doesn't look like we have to worry about them.
  8. Have an unbelievable pitching staff from 1996-2001, then completely forget how to construct one.
  9. You know we could just trade for Barry Bonds. :dunno:
  10. Gom's assesment of you is looking more correct with every passing day.
  11. Justin Morneau? Seriously, Justin Morneau? The 2006 MVP Justin Morneau? The same Justin Morneau who hit 34 HR's in 2006? Who has told you that Aaron Bates resembles a Justin Morneau? Some guy at Fenway? No one has EVER likened Aaron Bates to another Justin Morneau. I saw the Conor Jackson comparison, which is reasonable. For you to begin to compare the two is flat out dishonesty, at best, and probably stupidity. Aaron Bates is 23? So, when he was 22 he was battling ACC pitchers to the tune of a .354/.479/.560/1.039 with aluminum bats. Justin Morneau was f***ing terrorizing AAA pitchers to the tune of a 1 HR ever 13 AB's. If Aaron Bates ever hits 22 HR's in a season, I will deposit 1,000 dollars into everyone's bank account.
  12. Pros: 5 HR's in early season. Cons: 24 years old. Bunts, are hit out with great regularity. It's Bubba Bell.
  13. I know a 14.52 ERA is really bad, but that ballpark is like playing on the Moon. If someone throws a shutout there, they should give him the Cy Young.
  14. This guy is definitely billmueller11.
  15. It's only the most popular sport in the United States. :dunno:
  16. If I'm Dan O'Dowd, I'm looking for an upgrade in CF, and at 2B. I'd probably go with Carroll to see if his hitting spike was legit. His career OBP numbers suggest that they were, and he's a tremendous asset with the glove. Compare him and Matsui: WARP3: (Wins over Average Player) Carroll - 7.9 Matsui - 2.1 (if you multiply by three you get a 6.3, but I'm skeptical that Matsui is a .333 hitter) EQA: Carroll - .264 Matsui - .300 (with the .333 hitting spike) FRAA: Carroll - +26 (!) Matsui - 0 Matsui's probably the better bet with the bat, but Carroll's glove make him a better player to pencil into your lineup. He also manages to get on base at a decent clip. Outside trade possiblities could be Ray Durham from San Francisco? As for CF, Tavarez needs to be permanently relegated to a pinch-running role. Baker is intriguing, as long as he keeps hitting HR's. I don't know how he is with the glove. Reed Johnson is probably expendable in Toronto. He got on at a .390 clip, and hit 12 HR's. He's an average glove in center, with a plus arm. My hypothetical Rockies team would be: 1B: Helton CF: Johnson 3B: Atkins LF: Holliday RF: Hawpe SS: Tulowitski 2B: Carroll (or Durham slide to 6 hole) C: Ianetta Pitcher
  17. Oh, I'm not good at detecting sarcasm. :dunno:
  18. Yeah, I've got to add a ? here too.
  19. He gets on base 40% of the time, and the Rockies have a lot of good young power hitters that can drive him in. If you look at Atkins, and Holliday's RBI stats, each are over 110. That number would soar if Helton was in the leadoff spot. Helton would probably represent a 20 to 30 run improvement for the Rockies, as the leadoff hitter. Besides, it's not like Helton's raking down in the cleanup spot.
  20. He is a lousy $17 million dollar single hitter. He's 33, and will be 41 when his contract is up. The Red Sox will probably be burdened with a .250 hitter for the last 3 years. Probably. Absolutely. For six million I'd take him, for $16 million, he can stay in Colorado Tavarez, Lowell, Delcarmen, and $65 million dollars. I'd make a deal with Colorado.
