  1. Did Remy just say the Rays plan to use McClung as their closer next year?
  2. I will go apeshit if the pen blows this game.
  3. But wouldn’t the start be during the Baltimore series?
  4. Speaking of Shea, isn’t it odd that the Jays have started to spiral out of the playoff race since he left?
  5. Other than the Zobrist HR and the throwing error, JJ has been solid. Hopefully today serves as a positive for him to build on.
  6. Youk adding some life to the #5 spot.
  7. After a good day yesterday Coco strikes out for the 4th time. Probably won’t be seeing him leading off when Lowell comes back.
  8. How many bases loaded situations have Sox catchers crapped out on lately?
  9. These games in Tampa suck. It’s like the Sox end up playing down to the level of the D-Rays.
  10. Well said. The problem I have with using Paps for other than a 1 or an occasional 2 inning save is that he’s been the only part of the pen that has consistently fulfilled his expectations in his role. I just don’t want to mess with that success. It’s really not fair to expect him to pick up the slack for everyone else out of the pen.
  11. Wow, 6 in a row retired by JJ.
  12. I wonder if this will be Johnson’s last chance to prove himself. His last outing showed signs of improvement but basically the same overall results.
  13. From the reports it sounds like Foulke will be coming back within a week. I’m not counting on a whole lot from him but if he’s at least close to how he started the season in effectiveness, then he’d be a better option than some of the other veterans. Bridging the gap to Paps has been a problem as of late so I hope he can step it up. I’m wondering what the corresponding roster move will be when he comes back, presumably during the KC series. If Mirabelli is ready then it would be Miller sent back. If not who gets sent down…Hansen? DFA Seanez (who by the way has been effective now for a month, in mop up).
  14. I was happy to hear they think Lowell will be able to come back Tuesday after the day off.
  15. I’m not sure I like the idea so much given it’s success when tried back in 2003. If you mean go with the hot hand, the person who's had the most recent success, then we probably would have seen Seanez come in the 8th last night, and not Hansen. Either that or Paps get used over and over until he’s cooked by September. A lot to ask from a young arm. It all goes back to the problem of how inconsistent the relievers have been, basically since the beginning of the season. A bullpen by committee might work if the people in the pen weren’t so up-and-down all the time, but you can’t always judge them on a game by game basis. One day they look unhittable and the next game they suck.
  16. Hopefully Johnson can stop the bleeding tomorrow, but I wouldn‘t bet on it. Too bad Tito couldn’t shift the order of the rotation somehow in the near future so Johnson doesn’t follow Wells.
  17. Yahoo Sports dumb error of the day http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20060806/capt.7461853d74dd4a51bdfaf52e8a396af4.red_sox_devil_rays_baseball_spd108.jpg
  18. What a suck ass ending. Thanks Javy.
  19. Please Javy, time for your biggest hit as a Red Sox.
  20. And to think, not too longer ago there was speculation that he could be next season’s closer.
  21. Tough night for Gonzo. 0-4 with 5 LOB.
  22. Nice AB for Gabe. Better than getting hit by Fossum.
