  1. Vintage Boomer tonight and the best starting pitching from the Sox in quite a while.
  2. Nice throw WMP. Even before the Sox got the big lead, I was noticing how comfortable Boomer seems to be pitching to Lopez.
  3. And the hits just keep on coming. 8-0 Sox
  4. Gonzo with a 2 run triple. I like games like this.
  5. Yes Javy delivers Lowell from 3B.
  6. Nice steal Lowell. He's on fire tonight.
  7. Lowell says f*** YOU Loewen.
  8. Manny with another screaming RBI.
  9. This would be a perfect time to pound Loewen.
  10. What a catch Mike Lowell. This guy is a true gamer.
  11. Millar still helping out the Sox, hitting into the DP.
  12. What a ******** thing to say…”who cares”.
  13. Oh my God! No way. Lowell beaned...it can't be happening.
  14. Boomer looking sharp early on.
  15. Sorry, but I don’t buy into that. But if that’s true then f*** them all, including Tito. Jesus, these guys are well paid professionals who must know how important each game is at this point in the season. To not get motivated after losing to the bottom feeders of the AL is unacceptable. I believe the opposite is true. They know how things are going and they’re pressing more and more to get it done. Sometimes s*** happens.
  16. My take is that Tito doesn’t have any trust in WMP, especially defensively. And if weren’t for Theo stepping in, he would have him benched for most games in favor of Kapler. It’s almost the same story as last year when Millar was used over and over instead of giving Youk a chance. This practice is probably what pisses me off the most when it comes to Tito.
  17. Lineup announced on WEEI: 1. Coco 2. Loretta 3. Ortiz 4. Manny 5. Youk 6. Lowell 7. WMP 8. Lopez 9. Gonzo
  18. It probably won't be until near the end of this month before any more appealing names show up as possibilities. As the waiver restricted trade deadline comes to an end this month more teams will have a better idea if they stand a chance to make a run for the playoffs. That might free up a few more names from teams that still felt they were in contention back in July, or even now in early August. That being said I still feel that Theo won't deviate from his philosophy or long-term plan and give up any significant prospects to make this happen.
  19. Forget Zito as Boras will be looking for a multi-year deal for something like 5 years/$75M. Given the Sox FO's dislike for long-term contracts, I see no chance in hell the Sox will even sniff on this one.
  20. Any updates on Daniel Bard?
  21. Somebody made a point about how having a different catcher (other than Tek) has had an influence on the young pitchers and I think it applies to Paps. Lopez, Huckaby, Miller, and to a lesser extent Mirabelli don’t have that same relationship that Paps has with Tek. I’m guessing there’s a level of uncertainty that goes through Paps’ mind when he’s pitching to the other guys where he doesn’t have that same comfort level. If you recall early on his first blown save was with Mirabelli catching. Maybe he’s just reluctant to throw the out pitch (the splitter ?) that’s worked when he’s been paired with Tek. So to answer the question, I don’t think it’s a matter of overuse or being worn out or injury. But rather it’s more a lack of feeling comfortable with anyone else but Tek. I think it’s safe to say that Tek brings out the best in the young pitchers.
  22. In a way the luxury tax threshold has served as a "cap" for the Sox this year. It's been reported Theo refused the Abreu deal because his contract next year would put the team over the limit for the second year in a row. Apparently Theo has chosen next year to be more mindful of that and has capped the team's payroll. I know it's not exactly a cap per se, but basically it's put a limit on their spending, even though we all know that the Sox could probably afford it.
  23. I know. But if you think of the way they’ve won their last 3 games (2 Carmona meltdowns and Curt coming up big in TB ) and they way they’ve lost, it kind of describes the Sox right now.
  24. I don’t like the fact that it kind of sums up the way the Sox have been playing lately.
