  1. This sucks. I just found out it was official today. I'm glad to see he's sticking around the game. The game needs more guys like Bill Mueller in it. Thanks Bill
  2. If Beckett were to go on the market today I bet he'd get more money than Zito this offseason. Even after last year.
  3. Part of the blame has to fall on Wily even though I agree he hasn't been given a shot at a full season. I honestly see him with 40+ hr power, but he does lack defensively even worse than Manny. He strikes out way too much for a guy who has percieved MLB superstar tallent. That said, all he needs is one year to pull it all together and put up a 2003 version of Ortiz and he's in for a long shot. He's got to get past whatever is causing the holes in his swing and just put up good enough numbers so that he actually wins a spot in the lineup. I swear I know the answer to his problems... He swings way too heavy a bat. The thing's HUGE. It's a redwood. Lighten up and get a Kevin Millar style bat and the dude would rake everything.

    LMAO

Good move or not, it does bring up the question of Tom Brady's health. That would explain some things.
  5. I can already tell I'll hate Drew. He comes off like a dick everywhere he goes. They hate him here in Atlanta and they gotta hate his ass in LA right now. He's a Boras suck-off. Between Trot and Drew, I'll take Pena.
  6. This is a great trade for the Yanks. Maybe the Tigers don't think that this year was a fluke and have the Win Now attitude. But sending off a projected stud pitcher for a really old steroid freak/clubhouse cancer is a bad trade any way you look at it unless it puts you over the top at some point in the next 3 years. And to throw in two good young arms makes it even worse. Smart move for the Yanks.
  7. I'd do it. Nooo problem. I don't like Magglio but I would love Bonderman for a few years. Then go after Willis. Schill Willis Beckett Bonderman Papelbon I would cry.
  8. Kevin Millar is an A?
  9. someone's getting a spanking tonight.
  10. Congrats to the Cards. They had me fooled. Anyway, the celebration they had was really kinda sad. Very emotionless. Rolan or whoever quoting Kevin Millar of all people with the "shocked the world" comment and then calling the team "idiots". This is probably the team with the least amount of chemistry or personality I've ever seen win a World Series. So I went back and watched the bottom of the 9th of game 4 of the '04 WS (just to be sure ), and yup, the Sox win was much cooler! And Manny was a complete ass in his WS MVP interview. I could swear he said "We want Alex!" before saying something else about how good he was and how he always knew he'd be the WS MVP. ugh. Also, I just don't get the Foulke problems the last two years. Watching him pitch, he was throwing 90/88 mph fastballs then 77/78 mph change ups. He was what? 87 or 88 tops this year with the fastball? How can 2 miles an hour make you lose your mojo like Foulke has??? I mean, guys can light up a 96 mph fastball from Beckett then a 90mph changeup and we all say there's not enough difference in the speed of the pitches to fool the hitter. Foulke can't adjust and drop the speed of his breaking stuff to say, 75, to compensate? He'd still be fooling the hitters because he was never a power pitcher. I don't get it.
  11. Under the terms of Mike Timlin's new contract with the Red Sox, he will receive: $150,000 if he is traded. - Possible Base salary: $2.8 million. - OK $125,000 bonus for 39 games; $125,000 for 50 games; $125,000 for 60 games; $125,000 for 70 games. 500k at most. $75,000 for 25 games finished - possible $100,000 for 35 games finished - not happening; $100,000 for 40 games finished; -nope. $100,000 for 45 games finished; -nooooooope. $250,000 for 50 games finished; - are you kidding? Never gonna happen $250,000 for 55 games finished (maximum of $1.35 million). - If Timlin finishes 55 games ate 41 years old, he should earn $100,000,000,000,000.00 Other bonuses: $50,000 for All-Star selection; - possible $50,000 for MVP of LCS - possible $50,000 for MVP of WS - possible - though I will say that if this happens he should recieve another $100,000,000,000,000.00 $50,000 for Gold Glove; - not happening $100,000 for MVP ($50,000, second; $25,000, third) - I like coke $150,000 for Cy Young ($100,000, second; $75,000, third) - and crack; $150,000 for Rolaids Relief Man of the Year ($100,000, second; $75,000, third; $50,000, fourth or fifth). - doubt it. So the Sox would owe him salary plus 150k if he's dealt. If he gets into 70 games, finishes 25 games, makes the All Star team, wins MVP of the LCS and the MVP of the World Series AND wins the Rolaids Relief Man award, he'll make 3.5 million total this year.
  12. 2.8 is league average pay right now. Timlin's good for it. I can't believe the guy gets injured and has a crappy half year out of 3 and everybody thinks he's garbage from here on out.
  13. Welcome to the site.
  14. Verlander reminds me of Jason Lee so GO TIGERS!
  15. No Josh Papelbon in the top 65?
  16. It should also be noted that with the Red Sox essentially out of the playoffs by Sept. 1, Beckett pitched all the rest of his games. If the Sox thought he may have arm issues, they probably would have shut him down just to be safe. Like someone else already mentioned, until something pops, rips or snaps, you just gotta keep pitching him like he's healthy.
  17. Who the hell writes about baseball like this?
  18. How great would it be for the Tigers to beat the Yanks and then the Mets to win the WS? Going back to NY a second time for the win?
  19. And if you think about it the FO just fkn killed Corey Lidle because they didn't make the Abreu/Lidle trade. If he were already out of the playoffs and back in California today he wouldn't have died. Think about that while eating your puffs. Crazy stuff!
  20. ... poor guy
  21. damn. I was hoping they'd make that mistake. Guess this means A-rod will be the odd man out.
  22. I always forget how old Sanchez. He's 28 - older than Youk.
  23. Congrats and THANK YOU to the Tigers!
  24. tee hee hee hee hee
