  1. Yeah, the Sox game is next on channel 460. Right now it's Cubs 6, Pirates 5 in the bottom of the 11th.
  2. Living in Atlanta, trust me, it was the offense that let the Braves down in the playoffs. What won them 15 straight divisions has been the starting pitching until this year.
  3. jeez. will this stupid Pirates game ever end? 5-5 in the 11th vs the Cubs. I'm blacked out right now!!!!
  4. Teams usually win the WS with starting pitching.
  5. Are you being sarcastic?
  6. And if we had another ace, it may not have gone 7 games.
  7. Well that's the thing. Command of your pitches. Being able to put them where you want, no matter how much (or not) they move. You want movement, Matt Clement's got movement. He can't control it. Beckett can throw 100 mph, if it's down the middle where he didn't want to throw it, he's in trouble.
  8. You never know. The Pads and Dodgers may fight for him. It will be interesting to see if Theo can screw them out of something good.
  9. Schilliing Beckett Papelbon Wake Lester I don't think Clement will be a factor, but if so, I guess Lester or Wake could hit the pen. Edit: Only because Clement can't come out of the pen.
  10. I agree with ATG13. What the hell is happening to me??
  11. And Beckett's supposedly trying to throw more accurately with less gas. Anyway, no need to fight over this. I"m just looking forward to seeing how well he can do it.
  12. Just curious, but can Nathan start?
  13. We're selling what, 8 starts left in the season (for the Sox) to the highest bidder. This is how we got Tek and Lowe - not that something like that will happen again, but it's worth the shot.
  14. ... and they added Schilling to the rotation.
  15. Padres, Dodger or Cards? What could we get??? Buster Olney supposedly just reported an 80-90% chance Wells will be traided to one of those teams in the next 48 hrs. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2565280
  16. Beckett needs command of his fastball. Spot it on the corners like he did last start. It's not how fast your throw it and you can't magically put movenment on your pitches if it's not there. Look at Wells and Schill. They're not throwing 97mph but they can spot the fastball. Beckett's supposedly trying this tactic. Worked last time and that's why I want to see if he can do it again.
  17. I said I wanted to keep Youk, but that he may be one of the few people other teams may want. Again, gotta give up something to get something... Lowell is not a 9 million dollar player. Sure, if there is a team out there than can afford him, it's the Sox. But the Sox will have what, 30-35 hrs out of the corner infielders? And Lowell is the king of the slow bat. Great guy, great glove, good doubles hitter. That's it. Not worth 9 million and if the Sox could get rid of that contract they would. As for Paps, you can get a closer (look at Atlanta) for a LOT less than you can for a good starter. I'm one of those who thinks that Paps is more important as a starter. Take this week for example, with all the s***** starting pitching we've had, when was the last time we've seen Papelbon in a game? Besides, if all goes according to plan, Hansen will wind of the closer at some point.
  18. I'm looking forward to seeing how Beckett pitches tonight. Listening to Schilling on the radio this morning got me pumped. Seems Mr. Beckett is trying to trade a couple of mph on his fastball for command of it. Sounds like a good plan to me.
  19. I think Clement is signed through next year and NOBODY would take him. He's done for the year anyway. Foulke will probably pick up his option for next year. For this reason the Sox should try to move him now. Wells is supposed to retire after the year so I'd say send him off to a contender ASAP. Trot is done with the Sox after this season. He won't be dealt before he's a FA. Cora will return. He's one of the best utility guys in the league. I don't think Hinske will be back and I don't think anyone wants him right now. It's funny, the more Loretta plays right now, the more I like him. He's really banged up and he's still willing to help out by playing 1b. I think he may actually return next year. I do think either he or Gonzo will be gone, but I don't think both. And honestly, I can't decide which one I'd keep either. Lowell will be here next year unless the Sox eat a ton of the remainder of his contract. And considering how this year turned out, I think they'll hold onto him. Worst case scenario is he sits behind Youk at third next year. Youk himself is pretty interesting. He's one of the few younger guys I think the Sox would/could trade. He may or may not be here next year. He's cheap and other teams may want him. I figure Mirabelli will be here as long as Wake will be, so a few more years I suppose. He's not that bad - once a week. Tek has two more years and of course he'll be here. Manny will be back unless they get Andrew Jones. That's no given. Honestly, I think Manny will be back. I'd give Coco another shot at a healthy season but he may be moved. He's cheap and teams may consider him. Of course, if we get Jones, Coco's gone. I suppose another half year next year like this one and he'll be moved midseason. I think Snyder will only return if he's the long man. If the Sox find a better one, he's gone. Probably gone anyway. Tavarez should be shot. Kapler's gone. Lopez is gone. I think the team will hold onto Timlin and hope that the last 2 months just a bad stretch. Then again, they could probably get something for him right now. If that's the case, I'd trade him to a contender. MDC will take his place next season. Hansen could be traided as his name has already come up. Same with MDC - though I'd keep one of them. So the players I'm pretty confident on returning are: (one of) Gonzo/Loretta Papi Manny Tek Lowell Pedroia Belli (or another weak hitting defensive catcher of the same ilk) Pena Cora Schilling Beckett Papelbon Lester Wakefield Clement (pick one) MDC/Hansen. I'd personally keep both, but we're going to have to give up something to get something. Trade bait/returns/bubble: Van Buren, Murphy, DiNardo, Snyder, Timlin, Hinske, C. Pena, Youk and/or Coco (not both) Tito will be back. Contracts to eat if you can: Clement, Lowell Players to be named later in deals: Pauley, Stern, Gabbard, Alvarez. If I were the GM, I'd keep these guys. Youk, Coco, Hansen, MDC and see what happens next year. But these are some of the few players other teams may look for in a trade. Lester is still off limits. I'd try to get a closer and move Paps into the rotation.
  20. Kason has a no hitter going!
  21. At least he had spaghetti before he died.
  22. http://www.twhgrafx.com/images/zzz-warning-bloody-dead-cat-is-exactly-what-you-get.jpg MOJO IS KICKIN TONIGHT!!! Seriously, man, it's getting old. For the love of God at least understand we already know this is how you feel! Get a punching bag or something.
  23. Damn. Well, I hope he's ok. When I was a kid my mom's car was rear ended and her back was never really the same. No broken bones or anything, but disk problems.
  24. Get your facts straight! It was 49-26.
