  1. Brady Quinn is a pretty good QB, and that halfback on the Irish is one hell of a player. Notre Dame can win a few games this year.
  2. Regardless that isn't the point. He wants to spurn the Yankees by going to Boston good for him. But don't come out bitching that the fans booed you and you don't like them anymore. The only two teams we wouldn't cheer for him are with Boston and the Mets, and I'm not even sure about the Mets. He should know and accept what he was getting into.
  3. Better hitters should get more at bats. Matsui has an .834 OPS, Robby Cano with a .713. We get Matsui more plate appearances, there are more chances to score.
  4. If Mussina can come back, I would go with Johnson, Moose, and probably Wang and Wright. I know Small and Chacon would be very capable out of the bullpen and be able to eat up innings. I'm still undecided, because Chacon's last couple of starts looked a little shaky. If we get all the guys back and healthy that can be back, I go with Johnson, Mussina, Wang and Wright. If Wright or Wang is ineffective in a couple of starts before the playoffs start, I switch them for Small without a doubt. If Mussina can not come back effective, I think I keep Small in the rotation. I go with Johnson, Wang, Wright and Small. Although I do see where you are coming from with your rotation, and really would feel confident with all four of them starting I just don't think Wright will be able to provide much if anything out of the pen, and I think Chacon could be a huge help out there. And if Mussina does come back, I think they need to slide Small into the pen as well to eat up innings. Even though he can be better than Wright and possibly Wang, I think he's more versatile. Somehow, I think that Sturtze will not recover, and Chacon will need to take his place in the bullpen. Just a gut feeling.
  5. Only place I want to see Ponson in the Yankee organization is possibly in Single A ball. Until he proves he's a pitcher, screw him he sucks. We've got enough starting pitching for now anyway.
  6. Quite frankly, Al Leiter sucks. He can only get hitters out who get themselves out. For example, Oakland is a very patient team and they lit him up. KC is a very aggressive team and they were shut down. He faces a real MLB lineup in the playoffs, and I don't trust him. Let Johnson, Chacon, Small, Wright and Wang be our 5 down the stretch if Mussina can't come back.
  7. I went a Rangers/Leafs game a couple of years ago the day after Christmas at the Garden. There were a lot of Canadian fans at the game, in for the holidays so it was loud for both teams. (They booed the American National Anthem, that didn't sit well with us). Toronto got out to a 4-0 by the middle of the second period and the fans were being loud and obnoxious dancing with Canadian flags and such throughout the aisles. Of course, as my luck I'm sitting next to two of them. The Rangers scored to make it 4-1, so we got up and started cheering, and everyone was giving the Leaf fans dirty looks. Toronto went ahead 5-1 and then they starting getting very bad. They were picking fights with Ranger fans and it got ugly. We had to sit there and take it. Towards the end of the 2nd, the Rangers rattled off 3 goals and each time the siren went off we got louder and louder and the game was become incredibly fun. Going into the 3rd we were down 5-4 and right off the bat we put up the tying goal, and the place was ROCKING. Loudest I've ever heard the Garden. The last 15 minutes were tense, with no goals on either side sending it to overtime. In the extra session, Tom Poti rang the puck off the post which set up a 2-on-1 for Toronto where they scored the game winner. Despite the fact they lost in OT, it was easily the most fun I ever had at a hockey game.
  8. Hey what do I know? Good call, 7-0. Now can we please put to rest the 'Al Leiter is a big game pitcher' theory as to why he should be in the rotation? Small is a better pitcher, period.
  9. Watch out for Small, he's been nothing but clutch this year. He's quickly become one of my favorite players.
  10. hahaha, yes by beating up on our ace Al Leiter and shutting out our AA team for half the game. I'm shaking in my boots.
  11. nice, nice.
  12. From Opening Day to now, sure was. I think Chacon, Small and Wang have all been better than Mussina. And since he got back, Wright has pitched better too. I think 3 of those guys, plus Randy Johnson are far better than whatever rotation Boston wants to throw out there in the playoffs.
  13. I don't believe it will sideline him for the entire season. Not at all. The Yankees have the best team out of the contenders for the WC and are a whole 1 game out. Not insurmountable. 'A little presumptuous' would be a fan of Minnesota, who is fading and far back.
  14. Al Leiter proved tonight that he won't be able to get out a Major League lineup. As a team, Oakland is one of if not the best in pitchers per plate appearance and Leiter is one of the worst. Don't want to see him start in the playoffs if we can help it. Gotta go out and win tomorrow, it is pretty damn important. I was planning on watching the whole game, despite the fact we were down big. However I saw Forrest Gump was on so I watched that instead.
  15. If you are Boston, you don't worry about facing the Yankees in the playoffs because they are in your division. You are more concerned with running into a hot team in the short series. And if I am Boston, I'm petrified of Oakland.
  16. He said his proverbial 'f*** you' to Yankees fans by signing with Boston. Again, he played with San Diego, and he got a standing ovation when he threw 8 great innings against us. The point isn't he shouldn't have signed with Boston, he could sign wherever he wants. The point is he shouldn't have signed with Boston if he wanted to remain loved by Yankees fans. Yankee fans are going to do nothing but jeer Red Sox players. If he thinks he's going to be a special exception, then he certainly is dumb.
  17. I'd avoid Ben like the plague. His stats were never good last year besides winning percentage, and he has the looks of a guy who is bound for a sophmore slump. In my mind Losman is a better bet as your #2 starter.
  18. Take it easy on the sarcasm and hyperbole there. The kid is poised, he doesn't pitch like a 'rookie'. Remincent of Pettitte back when he came up. It's better that he isn't a strikeout pitcher, because he'll know how to get hitters out. Coming off the DL, I'd take a Greg Maddux type (a smart pitcher with average stuff) over a Kerry Wood (lights out stuff, no real thought process). Wang doesn't overpower hitters, but does a damn good job in getting them out. The injury Wang has had is not as bad as you would think. I have heard that Pedro has pitched with the same injury all season, it is just a matter of handling it. Wang didn't know he was hurt until he got looked at, he had thrown I believe 7 solid innings against the Tigers before going on the shelf. Wang is capable of coming back and bolstering this staff. I would be vey confident going into the playoffs with Johnson, Mussina, Wang and Chacon. In my mind, the jury is still out on Jaret Wright, but if he proves healthy and dominant down the stretch, Chacon can also be a huge help to the bullpen, slotting Jaret in the 4th slot.
  19. Stealing my style, ok. Just remember, I was ARod on these boards before he was going to win MVP. Welcome aboard.
  20. I've never been one to put someone on an ignore list, but redsoxrules is quite close. I feel like I lose points on my IQ after reading each post by this person.
  21. If Owens quits his bitching, he'll make Donovan more of a threat. However, if you put both those guys with the same situations, I think Daunte puts up better stats.
  22. LOL GAY! IT RHYMES WITH A! IT'S A PLAY ON WORDS!!! Alex Rodriguez is most the most qualified for AL MVP, and should win it. Great offensive player, and great defensive player at one of the most difficult positions on the field. (60 consecutive games w/o an error at third, tops in the bigs)
  23. So, you are going to penalize Chacon for pitching in the worst pitcher's ballpark in history for most of the season? I guess you were one of those people who thought Russ Ortiz should have won the Cy Young award back in '03 because he won 21 games. He's 3-2 with a 3.13 ERA with the Yankees. That is all that matters.
  24. Ponson sucks and I don't want him. Johnson, Mussina, Wright, Chacon, Leiter, Wang and Small will take care of starting duties the rest of the season.
  25. QB- D. Culpepper WR- L. Coles WR- E. Moulds WR- P. Burress RB- T. Barber RB- J. Jones TE- T. Heap WR/TE- K. Johnson WR/RB- F. Taylor K- Longwell DEF- Baltimore Bench QB A. Brooks TE J. Wiggins RB T. Jones WR J. Gaffney WR T. Edwards K D. Brien I missed the end of the draft because I had a softball game, but not bad with a 9th pick.
