Jack Perkins has a minuscule ERA of 6.75.

And the only Sox "hit" after 4 innings is an HBP.

Moonslav is right that flying west makes the time zone difference a lot easier.

Nice DP by Wong after a leadoff walk.

Sox not hitting a high ERA thrower

Doesn’t matter what his ERA is up to tonight.  What matters is how he’s throwing tonight, and that sweeper has had a ton of movement on it.  This is an abnormal game from him but those can happen.

It’s a bit difficult in both directions.

Cease is fully capable of being that dominant multiple times a season.  This kid is not, but any pitcher at the major league level is capable of doing it. How often they do it is what separates the great from the good from the average from the poor.

Duran cannot time a change up nor layoff it with that useless exaggerated leg kick.

I'm becoming convinced he can't be coached. He is what he is

It didn't take Mead long to get injured.

First game —- That has to be a record for going down with an injury.

He’s been inconsistent in July

No doubt.  But so far tonight the Sox hitters are the pikers.  They have yet to hit a ball hard.  And we just saw Duran at his worst for out #14 without a hit.

It does not matter where Perkins throws the ball because the Sox miss (or refuse to swing at) fat pitches and relish swinging at pitches outside the zone.  End of 5, no hits. Our brand new bat struck out and got the HBP.
