What GM got better bang for their buch, last winter?

$21M Gray (STL paying $20M out of $41M)

$16M Contreras (STL paying $2M of $18M)

$7.6M Suarez (I know you dislike using AAV)

$6M IKF

$1M Coulombe

That’s nice. He also failed to get help with the offense. As a result we are in last place.
And signing IKF doesn’t earn points with me

You think he left serious money on the table?

I mentioned IDK to be fair to all he spent.

BTW, he did better than many others who signed for way more.

How about answering the actual question? Name just one GM. I'm waiting.

I don’t care about the other GMs. I only care that our GM put a last place team on the field. I’m a bottom line kinda guy. And the bottom line is that he gave us a team that isn’t competitive.
Are you happy with his performance?

You do realize if Brez is fired we will hire another one, and you can't name one who did better.

Am I happy with his performance?

That's hard to answer, but unlike you, I won't give a non answer.

I think he has done a great job changing the focus on pitcher acquisition & development. We needed that badly.

I think he put too much trust in the everyday players we had, as many of us did. The players have failed to play up to expectations and I blame them more than Brez, but ultimately, it's his job to be a fortune teller and he did not do well on that side of the game.

I agreed with you that he failed to add another big bat that we needed, but unlike many here, I did not view Breggie or Bichette as "big bats." I think you'd have been happy had he signed them, then you convince yourself he could still have signed Suarez and paid Gray's $21M, and if JH wouldn't let him he should quit. That's your view of what a good GM should do: quit.

I'm glad he signed Suarez over Breggie or Bichette. I don't think Schwarber was a true option, but I'm fine with dingning him for not trying. I was high on Alonso, but am happier we got Contreras, so I can't ding him there. I get your point about not worrying about positions, but signing Alonso to be our 5th DH is not a winning strategy. Could he have traded for a bat- certainly yes. That is a big strike against Brez and keeps me from giving him a B or B+. I'm glad we didn't give Tolle for KMarte, as KMarte is not meeting the threshold you set for what we needed. Yet, you blame him anyway- "for not trying" when he would have failed on almost every "try" you, others and I suggested last winter.

To me, he trusted a team that looked pretty good, last winter and did way more good than bad and bad by omission. this past winter and the one before. I think dumping Devers was a bit lucky, but hey, a GM gets blamed for being unlucky, so he should get a plus when he gets lucky, too.

He gets a B- from me. I blame the players and JH way more than him. Like JH 50%, Players 40% and Brez 10% for not getting a bat.

I don't discount all the good moves because he failed to make one more good bat add.

B- isn’t good enough for me. BresLOW made a few good signings but he put a last place team on the field. I hold him 40% accountable for the dregs we’re watching this year. While you can point out glow these guys that were available during the winter are performing now we didn’t know how they would do. We only knew their history. You sign talented players over the winter based on how they have played historically. We could have had Alonso and at least made a competitive offer to Schwarber-or traded for someone else.
The bottom line is that we are in last place AGAIN and it’s getting really old. For that BresLOW should be fired and Henry should at the very least tell the fans that in fact he prioritizes $$$ over winning-if not sell the team.
There needs to be some accountability as opposed to excuses.

No GM can ever keep you from saying "fire him."

Fred hated Theo with a passion, and most of the world will acknowledge that Theo was the best GM in the history of baseball.

Breslow gets a full F.  He knew we needed offense, he failed to get it and then pretended like it was a choice.  The pattern of him acting like a full dictator align with how he answers questions, which i see with my own eyes.  Hes like one of those vegans who cant stop telling you that they are a vegan (no offense to any vegans).

"Im the CBO, you see Im the CBO.  I make the final call.  IM in charge.  Did I tell you yet that Im the CBO?"

I think the difference between 2025 and 2026 was Coras magic running out.  We had a team of limp noodle bats who overperformed last year like Toro and Lowe and Eaton and these guys created an illusion that we had bats.  Breslow cant get real bats and fired the guy who made him look good because he got spooked that the guy who deserved the credit was going to get the credit.  Now we get the leftovers.

And Im not really getting won over by the but who would we replace him with concerns.  I lean towards plenty of people would want CBO of the red sox, and if you cant get a top applicant, you jsut fully guarantee the salary.  Very few people will turn down 3 yrs/ 20m guaranteed.  And you can prob get CBO notin for half that.  My concern, however, is that NOtin wont prioritize fixing the offense either.

Id take the job, but I would just use it to try and resuscitate my missed WWE wrestling career dreams.  So think breathy promos with extremely bright colors and very animated gestures and over the top caricatures.  Like full blown Macho Man.  Id prob get along great with Tolle.

Breslow did get rid of Devers and his ridiculous contract and he canned Cora. I give him high marks for those two things, or is that three things?
